Weight loss sabotage

At the end of October I started the 1:1 Cambridge diet. I did two weeks of step 1b (4products a day) then went on to 3 products and a 200cal meal. By Christmas Eve I had lost 7.5kg comfortably and with no issues. On Christmas Day I relaxed a bit and since then I just keep eating rubbish. I was so proud of my weight loss and love the difference in my clothes. I’m not hungry I just keep putting things in my mouth. Crisps and chocolate most days. Family bags not a few in a dish. I can’t identify why I am doing this and I am struggling to stop. I have dieted my whole life and yo yo from 15stone down to 11 then back again. This time I thought it would be different - any advice would be welcome .

Hello! Yes! This is me! I cannot have the food in the house, is the answer. I self-sabotage and emotional eat or just because I am bored and not being mindful.

Honestly, if you're off work or out of your normal routine, it's also super easy to slip up. Getting back into a schedule and routine is key to helping with this.

Despite the cold I am out exercising (I walk, don't go to the gym as I find it dull so just walk) as this also helps me - I eat when I get back as the walk makes me hungry (particularly when its cold) OR after a meal to help with digestion but then have something eg a hot drink when I get back in again.

Be kind to yourself right now - find the inner coach who motivated you to get this far, and lose the inner critic thats beating you up right now. You've had a period of not being in your routine, just keep going!

Wow thank you! I love the idea of finding my inner coach. I was doing sooo well. You are right about being out of my routine. I have written today off but did go out for a 20 min walk (after the crisps) - hopefully tomorrow I will wake up in the right frame of mind!

You would very kindly encourage a friend who might be commenting on their Xmas weight journey - we go straight to critic but can train ourselves to be our coach and friend too. Sometimes we have to be harsh with ourselves (yes, just one WILL matter becuase then you'll want another ...!) but now is the time to be encouraging. You have done this once already so can absolutely do it again.
