Food noise

Am lying in bed thinking about some chocolate peanut clusters I got from Aldi.

I wish I could turn off the food noise…

I gave up sugar 4 years ago

it took 2 weeks for headaches to stop
9 months for M&S style images to stop dominating my head space
well over a year to stop salivating at actual adverts.

in the last year stupidly my sugar intake started to creep up again and the noise and images were coming back. I decided to quit again on Saturday, the noise levels are down so much more than the first time round.

Fruit was the way I did it, for me mid afternoon was the worst time as I’m home alone in between jobs. So big juicy orange and copious cups of tea. Also knitting and gardening as it kept my brain and fingers focused on other things

Oh do you know what, I get that! I went low carb for a year (and obvs sugar) and the same thing happened - just it took just one ‘cheat’ for it to come flooding back and I’ve never been able to do it for a sustained amount of time again.

iIs all or nothing, isn’t it…

Pretty much for me yes. I did cut sugar once before my big boycott and it was so much harder the second time like the body knew what I was doing and went nope. But this time I think where I was off it for so long touch wood 🪵 it’s been ok. I think last week I was fully aware of the noise again so Saturday decided that’s it back to where I was and just a couple of days and it’s stopped. The bag of plain non upf crisps is uneaten in the cupboard. I do avoid upf as well as that definitely increases the overall noise.
