2 months until Christmas. Anyone up for losing half a stone with me?

happysnail12 · 24/10/2025 08:04

I am on a couple of these threads and lost over a stone on a focussed "summer holidays" thread earlier in the year. However, they seemed to have naturally tailed off and so have my efforts! Since returning to work/school in Sept, I have been less motivated and have been gaining and losing the same couple of lbs.

Anyway...I am currently 11st 6.5lbs (I'm 5"3). Ideally I would like to get down to 10st, but I never seem to get there before gaining again.

So, I thought I would set myself another manageable mini goal of moving into the 10s by Christmas to help me re-focus.

Since turning 40, weight loss has slowed right down, so I am going to aim for half a stone loss by Christmas as a first step.

I am going to weigh in on Wednesdays

Anyone is welcome to join me 🙂

Can I tag along too? I know what to do, just need to do it.

ErmThisOne · 07/12/2025 22:49

@happysnail12half a bottle of baileys and a curry this weekend. One weekend doesn’t mean it’s over though.

Absolutely , @fataroundthemiddle the more the merrier. Feel free to share current weight, height, bmi and what not if you want to.

mondaytosunday · 07/12/2025 22:56

Checking in. I’ve lost just over 8lbs since I posted last (29/10). I had a couple days my son visited and we ate rather too much but not over maintenance for my current weight so I didn’t gain any, but it takes a few days for the scale to start going down again. So I’d like to lose another 5lbs between now and Christmas Eve, when all bets are off and I will enjoy myself for a week then back on it January 1! I have a big holiday booked for Easter so need to lose another 15kg (33lbs) between New Years and then. Sadly that still puts me in the obese category.

happysnail12 · 07/12/2025 23:01

@ErmThisOne glad it's not just me! But, yes, one weekend does not mean throwing in the towel! We can do this!

Well done on your loss @mondaytosunday you are doing amazingly 👏

And welcome @fataroundthemiddle 👋

That's wonderful, well done!
Anything in particular you've been doing?

ErmThisOne · 08/12/2025 07:24

Weighed in this morning. Still 11st 4 and a half. Please let me get to 11st 3 by the weekend! I think back to those weekend nights out and question if I made the right choices 😂

happysnail12 · 08/12/2025 08:55

Well done on maintaining @ErmThisOne

Somehow, I am 11st 3.5lbs this morning!
I'm guessing all my period bloating has disappeared and balanced out the weekend cheese! 🤣

I will officially weigh in on Wednesday, so fingers crossed I don't go up again!!

JG24 · 08/12/2025 09:31

@happysnail12thats a nice start to the week!

I'm 2 lbs heavier but expected that after the weekend. Tbh I didn't go completely wild which I was proud of, 1 sizeable glass a baileys, a bottle of wine spread over the weekend, a cheese board out for lunch Sunday and a very creamy/cheesy pie Saturday. But all was planned and I snacked on fruit and didn't crack open the Xmas chocolate! So I see that as a win

ErmThisOne · 08/12/2025 12:43

@happysnail12thats amazing! Well done you! @JG24alcohol holds longer as you dehydrate so make sure you drink plenty of water.

happysnail12 · 08/12/2025 18:45

Definitely a win @JG24 and well done for staying in control whilst still enjoying yourself.

@ErmThisOne Thank you. I'm not sure I deserve the well done, but still glad to see a lower number this morning (and makes up for last week when I was so good yet gained!) Just hope I can maintain it for Wednesday

Wednesday weigh-in. By some miracle a much better loss this week - just over 2lbs. I'm guessing my body has adjusted after my period week. Just shows how much these things impact the scales for women!

So, 4lbs down overall. Slow but steady (as always!) Although looking at the pattern of my weigh ins, I'll probably gain next week! It's so strange, I have (mostly) stayed so consistent, yet the results are so varied week to week!

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well and fingers crossed for another loss next week 🤞

That’s amazing! I am 11.4.75 today, I do need the loo though so will get a quick coffee to move things along then weigh again. I need to change something as I am hovering around 11.4.5 to 11.5.5 waiting for a miracle to happen.

happysnail12 · 10/12/2025 07:23

Thanks you @ErmThisOne hope it sticks!

I'm fed up of 11st 4/5 too. Feels like I lose a bit, then keep going back to that number! 🙈

Hopefully the coffee will work it's magic for you! 🤣

Well done, only a couple of lbs then you'll be in the next stone bracket

So close, yet so far!

Well done on the dedication everyone..
I have failed miserably! Probably about a pound down since I first started. I've been walking 2 miles on the walking pad every day and eating less but I'm still so bloated 😫 It's so hard since I've hit my 40s!! My twenty something self would not believe her eyes!!

happysnail12 · 15/12/2025 20:56

Hi @pushthebuttonnnwell done on all the walking and changes you've made despite the lack of big movement on the scales. I understand how frustrating it can be and I completely relate to the slow down of the 40s! We've got this though 💪 slow and steady wins the race and all that!

JG24 · 16/12/2025 08:19

I had a bad cold for about 2 weeks do stopped watching what I ate and weighing.
Just reading the latest messages and I'm going to go for a walk/jog on my lunch today and get back on it!

happysnail12 · 17/12/2025 06:48

Wednesday weigh-in. Stayed the same this week. A bit annoying but better than a gain.

It's been a busy week with a million Christmas related school activities! I've stayed on track with food but no exercise!

Hope everyone is doing well? X

Same here too. Not impressed but my own fault.

I can do 2lb by next week surely?

happysnail12 · 17/12/2025 06:59

I need to lose 3lbs to meet my 7lb target! 🙈 Definitely not happening! Just going to keep aiming for the elusive 10s and I'm sure I'll get there eventually!! 🐌

OP posts:
ErmThisOne · 17/12/2025 07:27

Yeah I was hoping to hit the 10s for Christmas but not a cat in hells chance now. Doesn’t matter, I will keep going.

Might need to change something in the new year though as I would love to be 10st for Easter as that’s when we go away.

happysnail12 · 17/12/2025 08:26

Yeah, think I need to too. I've managed thus far by being mindful of portion sizes and loosely following intermittent fasting, but I think as my weight goes down, it's gets harder to lose using that method alone.

I feel a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place, because if I restrict too much I end up falling off the wagon. Maybe, I'll have a think about cutting down on carbs somewhat.

Anyway, that's 2026's problem. For now, I just need to stay motivated over Christmas and avoid eating my body weight in turkey and chocolate!

happysnail12 · 24/12/2025 08:21

Well here we are the final Wednesday weigh-in before Christmas. 11st 2lbs this morning so only half a lb this week (bit annoyed because I did see 11st 1lb on the scales yesterday but hey ho!) I didn't make my half stone target but I am 4.5lbs lighter, which is better than the usual lead up to Christmas gain!

I am going to loosen the reigns a bit between now and January (I am away with family between Christmas and New Year) but am going to try as hard as possible to be mindful and not go completely off the rails.

Wishing everyone here a wonderful day tomorrow and thank you for coming along for the ride with me. I'll probably start a new thread in January and hopefully 2026 will be the year I finally lose that last stone and meet my target!!

Happy Christmas 🎄
