Has anyone here had a gastric sleeve?

I had one 2 weeks ago and I’m experiencing a lot of heartburn, nausea and regurgitation

How long did this last for you?!

Before anyone asks I couldn’t use WLI for medical reasons

Any tips for recovery?

I did.

I would be checking back in with your team often at this stage.

Are you still on just liquid or moved to soft foods?

Keeping fluids up with little by little and really slowing your intake might help. Try 1/4 teaspoon amounts and wait a minute then then next amount.

I recommend dr Weiner bariatric cookbook but use your teams reintroducing phases.

You are early early days and it does get better.

Definitely check in with your healthcare provider.

I had a gastric sleeve but didn’t suffer with the same. Are you on a phased return to eating? I seem to recall on week 2 I was only on protein shakes.

With my team I am on puréed food for the next two weeks then soft food. The heartburn is so bad in the early mornings it keeps me awake. I have spoken to my team about it and I have to prove a threshold for an increase in Lansopozole and can’t have my usual omeprazole. Everything else I can cope with but the heartburn is A LOT. Thanks both for replying.

My sister did c5 yrs ago. Vomited all the time for about a year until she sorted out her meal sizing. Still does vomit if the meal is too large and not enough simple veg (eg cheese, meat v acid forming)

vomited for a year

I’m not vomiting around meals thankfully. I’m vomiting around early morning when I have terrible heartburn and I was dry heaving this morning. I’m also struggling to take medication without heaving
but food is fine.

I'd talk to your teams dietitian. It maybe you can change what you eat at night.
