Hello, just need some advice please. I’m 51 and have gained weight. I’m only 5’3 but have gone up to just over 64kgs- I feel huge ; I know I’m not- it’s just my mid section that’s making me feel uncomfortable) I did have an eating disorder when I was younger but thankfully have that under control but the anxiety is still there when I step on scale- however I do accept at my age - my body shape will change and weight gain can be due to premenopause etc. Anyway- I would like to started using dumbbells - does any know of a good link I can follow targeting belly fat especially please?and any other advice to
lose these pounds? I’m looking to lose 5-10 pounds and would be happy with that! Thanks for listening! X

Hi there,

I really recommend Caroline Girvan for dumbell workouts, she's amazing! There are loads of free ones on her YouTube channel. The Iron challenge is probably where I'd start. Don't be put off by the very heavy weights she uses, just use what feels right for you.

As for targeting stomach fat - I'm afraid nothing can do that. I know it sucks as that's where I carry extra weight too. Get yourself into a mindset which is more about lifestyle changes rather than 'diet'. Are you safe counting calories with your ED history? If so I'd recommend the nutracheck app, but only if you feel OK with it. I'd say nutracheck for getting into a slight calorie deficiency, weights workouts and walk as much as you can. I'm 47 and doing all of that has helped me drop a stone and feel much happier about my body (even with my stomach!). Good luck x
