I'm needing to lose around 3st. Looking at options, Joe Wicks, SW, or Noom current frint runners,
I don't know much about his program. How are the recipes? How hard are the workouts? Is it quite structured?

They're as structured as his stomach (tbh I don't know about the program but I'm aware of his stomach)

I've used and subscribed to body coach app just over a year or so ago. The programmes start off as beginner with 3 stages, increasing in length of session and reduced breaks over time. Complexity increases too such as more difficult sustained moves over time.
There is also intermediate and experienced levels. There are some live sessions that you can join in with and also yoga and other programmes and challenges.
I found it difficult due to my work hours but if you have the time, the sessions vary in length and there are also shorter sessions you can do.
You can also set up your own schedule by adding sessions to a calendar.
I never really followed the food but there are some good ideas with higher carb and lower carb options for working out and rest days.
I wouldn't do it again only because I'm unfit with not exercising for a year having lost almost 4 stones with WLI and prefer following some female youtubers Growwithjo and Lucy Wyndham-Reed which also have less down on the floor mat work.

The amount of exercise you need to do to lose a pound of weight is quite extreme and not really sustainable. Exercise is excellent for your health and fitness but exercise alone will not lose you the weight.

Weight loss occurs through one method and one method only and that is through creating a calorie deficit. Literally putting fewer calories in then you expend.
It’s the reason why GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-receptor) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptors in Mounjaro is such a game changer. Because one controls your insulin and stops you feeling hungry and the other controls gut emptying, making you feel fuller for longer.

It is of course possible to manage this on your own if you don’t want to try WLI but it is very hard and the statistical outcomes of sustaining the loss, is very depressing.

Agree. I did Joe wicks solid 4-5 times a week and lost 2lbs in 6 weeks with a deficit of 1500 cals. With WLI I lost 5lbs in a month without barely trying.

I do need to add a caveat to my post. In case I’m making it sound like WLI have some miracle ability to overcome the Holy Grail of weight loss - sustainability.. it doesn’t . There’s been a lot of nonsense spouted about ‘retraining bad habits’ . It’s just not reality. WLI reduce your appetite. All studies have shown that when replaced with a placebo - the vast majority of dieters regained 80% of their loss by the 5 year mark. The same amount as the diet/exerciser. The only current way to maintain the loss is to remain on a maintenance dose of MJ - which maybe financially impossible or carry a potential worry that long term use for weight loss is not known yet. However for some of us, who were looking premature death in the eye due to obesity, it’s a risk worth taking.

Colefra · 21/10/2025 11:59

Can anyone add any more feedback about Joe Wicks please, as that was my question and I have no interest in WLI. If I did I'd be over on the WLI board asking about them!
(Thanks to mysticmaiden for the helpful info about JW)

I was a member of the Body Coach app for 2 years, I didn't really stick to it but it is absolutely not about quick fox weight loss. I actually lost nothing at all in the first 8 weeks, but he focuses on measurements and inch loss (which I actually lost 8cm off my waist in that 8 weeks!)

I stopped as I found it hard to stick to the meal plan with a picky family to feed, also found the meal plan really quite expensive and time consuming compared to what we're used to, but I have been considering rejoining just for the fitness kick.

Apologies for derail. Just that you said you wanted to do this program for weight loss of 3 stone. It simply won’t work unless done along side any method of calorie deficit. With or without exercise. It will improve your fitness however . Like any form of exercise. When /if you decide to do it, you need to work out your TDEE (ChatGPT can do this for you in a nano second) and stick to it like glue. Then you’ll get the results you want.
