2 stone - accountability and friendly support thread

Hello! I have around two stone to lose (ideally a little more, but two stone would be great). I am going to do a weigh in once a week, and use myfitnesspal for calories. I will try to move more, but my main focus is going to be on food. I know I don't have a good relationship with it, so I need to fix this if I'm going to be successful in the long term. I am in my 40s and weight doesn't fall off the way it used to!
Would anyone be interested in sharing a similar journey with me? I thought some accountability would be good, but also encouragement and maybe even some distraction (from the snack cupboard)!

Im interested! Same goal as you. I keep starting and stopping and then bingeing. Im not planning my meals in advance which i need to do something about as I'm just failing!

labamba18 · 15/10/2025 04:28

Interested here too!

mellongoose · 15/10/2025 09:17

I’ll join. Although I’m not known for my staying power on these threads 🤣 hence needing to join. Again!

Same goal as you and aged 49. I’m out of work at the moment and slightly panicking but have done loads of applications. That’s just for context as it’s not helping with emotional snacking!

unicornsandchocolate · 15/10/2025 15:22

Emotional eating is one of my downfalls too, and I tend to eat more when I'm in the house a lot. I think I should do more meal planning too. I struggle with healthy, quick breakfast ideas.
I weighed myself this morning even though I was scared to! I'm recording this as being my starting weight.
I cant decide what day would be great at to weigh in. I'm worried that if I close a Thurs/Fri then my weekend will be a disaster, but if I chose a day early in the week then I'll not enjoy my weekend at all! What day do you think is best?

Maybe midweek then? I’ve seen threads on here go for a Wednesday, which is about as far away from the weekend as you can get!

mellongoose · 17/10/2025 07:18

My scales are not working even though I have replaced the battery. Need to fix!

Banjo79 · 17/10/2025 07:47

Count me in too please! I'm mid 40's, been overweight all of my life, would be comfortable with a two strone weight loss, although I should probably lose more, like you, I'm also an emotional eater too.

unicornsandchocolate · 17/10/2025 07:53

Welcome Banjo!
Wednesday it is then for my weigh-ins.

The weekends are my downfall, so I am trying to make a plan for this one. I always think I deserve a treat on a Friday. But then continue that into Saturday and Sunday too.

@unicornsandchocolate that's me too, although I'm pretty bad in the evenings too after the children are in bed. I've cut down on alcohol a lot recently, but then I'm still eating a lot of biscuits and chocolates!

Mammyloveswine · 17/10/2025 08:35

Oooh can join?

unicornsandchocolate · 17/10/2025 10:39

Hi Mammyloveswine. Of course! I also love wine. Another downfall!

Can I ask how you are going about doing it, I've tried SW, 16:8, calorie counting, 5:2, had a bit of success with that, but get too hungry, which can then lead to overeating.

unicornsandchocolate · 17/10/2025 19:56

I'm just trying to calorie count.....but will try to work on increasing my protein. But essentially I'm hoping to be consistent with limiting my calories. It'll take lots of will-power though!

How is everyone doing this weekend? I did well yesterday. I'm going out for a meal this evening for a friend's birthday though. I think the need to be mindful of my alcohol consumption more than food tonight through.....both because of the calories in the drinks and my tendancy to binge when I've had a few drinks or am tired (tomorrow). I will let you know how I get on....but any tips welcome!

I'd love to join please. I am on a couple of threads which seem to have now tailed off.

I was very focussed leading up to the summer but since then have found it hard to keep focussed.

I am a classic emotional/stess eater too and go through phases of bingeing and self-sabotage.

I've just signed up for counselling and hope that part of the work can be exploring this pattern and making some changes.

I've also joined the gym but currently finding it impossible to find the motivation to go!

I am currently 11st 6.5lbs at 5"3 and ideally would like to be down to 10 stone.

Throughout my adult life I have constantly yo-yoed and was 18st at my heaviest. I am now in my 40s and would love to keep myself healthy for the next chapter(s) of life.

I'm going to do a Wednesday weigh in each week 😊

unicornsandchocolate · 23/10/2025 20:43

Hi happysnail12!
I will am still at it. I lost just 1lb this week. I would have loved to have lost more, but at the same time my aim is a slow and steady one.
I'm using chat GPT to help me meal plan and it's been great.
