Found out I'm pregnant - do I have to stop my diet?

Just found out I'm pregnant - only just 3 weeks but have been dieting for the last 5 weeks and lost half a stone. I don't starve myself (I eat porridge for breakfast, soup and a yogurt for lunch and a healthy dinner). I really don't want to pile loads of weight on during the pregnancy but don't want to harm the baby obviously and I'm irrationally scared of miscarrying again after mc in February. Anyone been here and have any tips or advice?

you can diet for the first trimester and after that you need to make sure you have the right amount of calories i think it is about 2000 for woman but may vary depending on your size so you should check with your midwife and the last three months you need an extra 200 calories a day.

if you are going to diet you need to make sure that you are getting enough calcium and other nutrients abnd you are not cutting back too far on your calories. tbh i would speak to a doctor or dietician before i went on a reduced diet during pregnancy.

just try and eat healthily and take planty of exercise and you shouldnt put on too much weight ( i put loads on, but then i lived off cheese sarnies and pork scratchings). your babies health is more important than your figure, you can always loose the weight after.

HI there, it is o.k., as long as you diet sensibly. Obviously a slow weightgain is better...however, the body is clever really, i.e. it will put your Baby first. But if you loose to quickly, then to many toxins from your fat depots (where we store all our toxins)will be released into your bloodstream and that is, I believe not ideal.
If you are overweight, then it is probably healthier to loose some weight anyway, iykwim

Oh and Slimming World do a plan for pregnant women, might be worth joining, even if you don't want to go to the groups etc. for long term...
