Where the hell am I going wrong????

Right before the first lockdown I lost 3 stone. Due to the Fast 800 and cardio exercise. I’m not into carbs so keto eating suits me well. Maintained for the last few years. Since recently turning 50 it’s gone to shit!

I’m currently a stone and a half over my desired weight. I’ve been calorie counting (I really do do it properly by weighing it all) and recently doing weights in the gym. I’m always in a calorie deficit (to lose a pound and a half per week)and I do include my wine consumption!!
i lose half a pound so slowly and it’s not consistent at all.
where am I going wrong - very keen to drop a stone in the next month?! Any tips?!

Are you taking an supplements to ensure good gut health, not saying this is the cause but it might help, also look at electrolytes these are essential to maintain bodily function and can easily be a contributing factor to not losing weight.

Thanks for your reply @Slawit. The only supplement I take is Willpowder Collagen plus Magnesium. No electrolytes. What would you suggest? Thanks v much

Welcome to menopause @OhCobblers . I found menopause slowed weight loss right down to almost nothing. Every ounce became a battle. It wasn’t like I wasn’t doing it properly, it’s just that a major calorie deficit seemed to have little if any effect.
Now on mounjaro and back to losing 1-2lbs a week.

OhCobblers · 27/07/2025 15:30

@igiveini have seriously considered Mounjaro but any questionnaire I complete tells me I don’t qualify and not sure where to go from there?

I’d love to be able to give you a positive suggestion @OhCobblers . I do think before long the parameters for WLI will be loosened, but until then I think you’re stuck battling for every ounce.

A stone a month is ambitious op...I've lost a stone in six weeks on wegovy

londongirl12 · 27/07/2025 17:58

What weight do you want to be? What are you eating calorie wise now? How many steps a day?

OhCobblers · 27/07/2025 21:38

@londongirl12i eat between 800-1000 calories. Protein and green veg/salad. I don’t get to 10k steps a day but I’m at the gym 3 times a week mostly using weights. I’m 5”5 and currently 11 stone 4 and works like to be 9.10
I’d be happy with losing a stone in 6 weeks! @Comedycook

You’re not doing anything wrong other than being impatient. You’d like to lose a stone in a month/6 weeks, but if you lose it in 12 weeks you’ve still lost it and would be at your goal. So if you are losing weight consistently then just keep at it and you will get there. Even if there are minor fluctuations week to week.

An easy thing to do would be to cut out the wine though.

OhCobblers · 28/07/2025 09:45

@SilenceInside That was my typo it should have read 2 months which I hoped was do-able?! You’re right about the wine though - will do that too!!

What you're doing wrong is being 50. I've found weight loss impossible without the injections. It's like my body just adjusts my metabolism to cling to every fat cell. Mounjaro un-does that.

Sasssquatch · 28/07/2025 09:53

I found wine incompatible with keto, although ostensibly it’s low carb

stop the wine for a month and see if it makes a difference

That’s a very small amount of calories, especially if you’re going to the gym regularly.
