When to down size clothes?

I'm about a stone down - yeah, 13st to 11st 11lb.

Most of my stuff is 16s, (I was pouring myself into them at one point).
I've only gone up sizes when smaller was too tight.
How do you decide when to go for smaller clothes?

When your trousers fall down get new ones and a couple of correctly sized tops too.

I bought new trousers when my old ones were starting to look comical and new bras when the girls looked like they were “lonely” in there! (Down from size 16 to 12 this year, almost into 10s, so I’ve down this twice already this year!)

When I can slip my jeans off without unbuttoning them and have to keep hoiking them up as I walk.

Tops when they start to hang off me.

I've gone from a size 16 squeezed into 14, to a comfy slightly baggy 14 with a 1.5 stone weight loss.
I have plenty of size 12 clothes I'm looking forward to fitting back into by Christmas hopefully but once I am comfortably that weight and continuing to fall I might buy a few updated items?
Have you no old clothes in smaller sizes at all?

When I reached the mid-low area of a size I never bought another item that size and started buying the size down. Oddly my pants are the first thing I size down - M&S granny pants though so massive anyway!

I've just started a new job, so kind of need some work clothes, the 14 tops I have are looking dated.

Congratulations on the weight loss I know how hard it is!

Can you buy some things from Vinted or similar to keep you going for now? I find sizing is really difficult but you can ask for measurements, across bust and waist and maybe length for a dress or skirt. If you set up a search for an item and put a maximum price and maybe select a few brands you like then something will come up. I’ve recently bought 2 skirts and 2 dresses (Seasalt and White Stuff) and a jacket for a total of £35 after losing a stone. Some sellers provide measurements and most will respond quite quickly if you ask.

I’ve been really happy with all my purchases and everything looks so much better now (most of) my spare tires have gone! I’ve also sold some old outfits that had little wear and used the credit to buy some new things. I’ve also found that the quality is better than th stuff in the shops and has mainly been cotton with lining.

I’ve down sized as my clothes look too big. But bought a lot on vinted while I’m in between where I want to be
