Is anybody watching? It came up on Facebook as I like watching My 600lb Life and I thought I’d give it a go. I’m on episode 2 and episode 1 was set in Japan where only 4% of the population is obese (or overweight, I can’t remember) and weight and health are the responsibility of the employer and there is government exercise programmes that employees stop and do every morning. Their culture is about harmony and being fat disrupts the harmony apparently. There was talk of the Japanese being very disciplined. I found it fascinating. Also chopsticks slow down eating and that helps digestion. Work canteens are full of healthy meals.
Episode 2 is set in Tonga. big obesity problem since the westernisation of their diet. Lots of raw fish is now the order of the day to go back to a traditional way of eating.

Yes, I have watched it. It was really interesting. Especially the one in Japan. And the part about how when western fast food places popped up, people became more overweight.

@Number456i found it interesting how one woman said that you can’t avoid chicken shops because take aways are everywhere and they “will get you” as though she had no agency at all. Such sad stories. I find Tiffany’s body positive approach is such a contrast to the rest of the group. She believes she can be healthy yet obese but the chicken shop lady said she’s just in denial.
The amputations from diabetes in the young is shocking and still people won’t get checked in Tonga. Crazy.
