Aiming for 20lbs loss in 10 weeks

Hey Hey,

So, as the title says, I want to do 2 lbs a week for the next 10 weeks. That would be 20lbs and will leave me probably only a few pounds away from my goal of 180.

I'd love to try the 'slow and steady', but I think I need a proper kickstart, some intensity and some accountability. I haven't actually weighed myself (out of fear) so will do that tomorrow morning. Once I know what I currently weigh, I'll set my weekly goals - I know its said that 1-2lbs is average, but at this point I'm going hard for the whole of summer. I'm tired of where I am!

Plan: Low carb, IF & Cardio

Would anyone like to join for some accountability?

I'll post my SW tomorrow with a plan for the week
And then every Monday, share my weight and new plan for the week.
I love a NSV (non scale victory), so will share those as and when they come around!

Someone....anyone.... join me on what I'm hoping will be a success!

Just want to say good luck OP and don't be too hard on yourself if your losses aren't as fast as you hope.

Are you following any particular low carb plan?

Journeyto180 · 01/07/2025 09:01

Hi @BIWI 👋

At the moment, I'm winging it and going with what I know have always been my biggest carb intakes.

Over the years, I've almost completely cut out rice/pasta/spaghetti because of the bloat that i noticed it caused me. Bread & potatoes are still a staple and so I'm starting with those. No breads for now and minimal potatoes.

Sugar again is something that I struggle with, but have got to a place where if I don't buy it in the weekly shop, I probably wont have it (biscuits/cakes etc). I still have honey in my coffees or teas and will keep that in.

So in a nut shell, I'm going for meals that are protein & veg/salads.

Are you doing low carb? Any tips on how to get the most out of this challenge Ive set myself?

Also, I weighed myself this morning!

SW: 204.6lbs

🌟So the goal is 202.6lbs by Monday 7/7/25

We have a busy weekend which will most definitely involve lots of food, so I need to be completely clean until then to hopefully balance it all out.

Did a 45min walk this morning and will aim for another 45 this afternoon or evening.

If you wanted something with a structure that you could follow, as sometimes that helps, look at the Low Carb Bootcamp topic on here.

Two important things:

  • drink lots of water (especially in this heat!)
  • in the first week you may feel a bit ropey, so make sure you’re keeping your electrolyte levels up. This means sodium, magnesium and potassium. A supplement like High5’s Zero can help. But it’s also important to make sure you’re using/eating salt (and particularly when you’re drinking a lot of water)

Also, as well as the scales, take your measurements. It’s not unusual for the scales not to shift but for the inches to be disappearing!
