Calories counting & not losing weight

Julsi · 20/06/2025 12:25

I really am determined to lose weight, about 43lb to be precise. I am calorie counting along with one or two replacement meal shakes. I'm having 1200 cals which includes the shakes & so far I have lost 3lb in 10 days. I have no clue why the loss is so small when I'm very overweight. Any help / advice pls 🙏

3 lb in 10 days is not a small loss! 1200 calories sounds like you could be eating too little though, what’s your BMR?

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 20/06/2025 12:32

That really isn't a small loss. Your expectations are unrealistic.

DumbbellIdiot · 20/06/2025 12:32

Are you weighing all your food?

Swapozorro · 20/06/2025 12:35

Yeah that’s definitely not a small loss. Keep your sugar intake minimal and up your exercise and that will speed things up more

greensidepatch · 20/06/2025 12:37

so you are losing weight?

healthy weigh loss should be 1-2lbs a week so 3lbs in 10 days seems pretty normal

My BMI is 39. I do weigh most of my food but if something is 2 items for so many calories, I take that as read. I've cut out, bread, biscuits, cakes, chocolate, use skimmed milk, no sugar. I'm not giving up though.

If your BMI is 39 then 1200 calories is going to be well below your BMI and isn't sustainable long term. With a BMI of 25 I eat 1600-1700 a day to loose weight!

Julsi · 20/06/2025 13:56

Oh, so maybe I should up my intake & see what happens. Thank you 😊

Im having a similar nightmare with very low losses despite being v overweight and having 1600 cals a day

Im looking at perimenopause causes to try and help but sticking to low card blood sugar diet

Its slow work!

1lb a week is a healthy weight loss. How much do you expect in 10 days?
