Hi! I'm new to losing weight, I would like to lose 3 stone in total. I have a desk job and struggle with the afternoon because I'm bored by then, tired of looking at the screen etc and I get an afternoon slump where I snack. Instead, I have been having a can of zero sugar pop. It's like having a sweet treat but without the sugar. Probably not very good for you but there's zero calories! Also, I've found that most of the time I'm not actually hungry so I have a drink, get up and move around. If I'm in the office I go for a 2 min walk around or if I'm at home I clean or tidy something or go in the garden. I've only been on it a couple of weeks but these things are working for me so far.

High protein stops me from craving. Sometimes I'm hungrier after a meal than before and get crazy sweet cravings, I have to follow savoury with sweet. I now realise when I eat carbohydrates they kick start this 'hunger' but I don't get the same reaction from high protein foods. Similarly if I eat carbohydrates early in the day it sets me up to crave food all day. Everyone is different but for me the mental energy needed to say no 1000 times a day is too much and I eventually give in. Preventing the cravings in the first place seems to be the only answer for me
