Morning
So today I tipped the scales at 15 stone 6
Before lockdown I was 11 stone 10

I have lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and severe osteoarthritis and to add insult to injury my only non troublesome joint being my right foot....I broke in 2 places and dislocated 6 months ago requiring surgery and I spent months stuck at home
My lupus accelerated about 8 months and I lost all of my hair too so I have zero body confidence in every aspect.
I'm on high dose steroids too which has given me a moon face
I turn to food and wine for comfort

A few years ago I considered myself very pretty....and today cannot bare to look at my own reflection

I was hoping to use this forum/thread to just record what I'm doing and eating with complete honesty and maybe gain some support and advice along the way

I don't have any wise words but wanted to wish you luck. Do you have a plan on what you're going to change about your diet? And do you need to check with your GP it's the right thing to do at the moment, considering everything you're going through? Don't forget to be kind to yourself, you've really been through it x

I was in a very similar situation and a similar weight and I am now 11 stone and I can't tell you how much happier I feel. I do still want to lose a few more pounds but I know I will get there. I've been using weight loss injections and couldn't have done it without them.

I'm planning on following slimming world but being mindful of calorie deficit in conjunction with that. I've signed up to slimming world online and I have the nutracheck app.
Trying to do as many steps as possible which is difficult as im not keen on leaving the house much at the moment and I work from home
But I have to do this. I need to be in control of something that's happening to my body

There's lots of threads on here with people supporting each other- why not get yourself onto one of them? I'm not actually on any myself but I've loved reading them on my own weight loss journey. Take it slow and steady, look for overall trends rather than quick fixes and as I said, look after yourself xx

I am also trying to lose weight. You mention that you turn to food and wine for comfort. Would it be worth thinking about what you could replace them with? Something that would take your mind off thinking about them?

MrsC2017ruled · 05/06/2025 11:51

I've actually started playing puzzles on my phone to keep busy. I have 2 children that keep me busy but it's just those lonely times at night or during the day while the house is empty.

I'm feeling really positive this time though.
I will get back to being and looking like myself again

I’ve got a lot of health issues including MS and have lost 4 stone in the last year on Slimming World. I cant exercise so it’s all been done by what I eat. It’s slow and steady but you want it like that so you can reset your mind as to what you need to eat to be a normal weight. So don’t think you have to go out walking if you really don’t want to, you could always start when you have lost some weight if that works better for you

i started losing weight as I’d lost all confidence with how I looked. I lost all my hair too and looked like a man, so I do see similarities between us. I now feel so much happier, look so much better and am just more comfortable.

no 1 tip is no snacking which works for me as that was my downfall. I still drink but buy single glasses of wine(the ones in small bottles) and that stops me from finishing off bottles etc. good luck

My first day on it went a little like this
Breakfast- Tiffany plate
Lunch- home made pea and ham soup
Tea- slimming world hunters chicken with mash carrots brocoli and sprouts
No snacks and no wine
