Help for weight loss

Bluesky4567 · 03/06/2025 18:47

I’ve reached rock bottom with my weight.
5”2 and 14 st 12lb, PCOS, 18 months post partum, binge eating chocolate daily.
Only things that really work for me are calorie counting or low carb, and I just can’t do low carb right now. So calorie counting it is.
I need a replacement for my afternoon chocolate grazing, this is sabotaging any efforts I make & I am piling weight on.
Any ideas, help, tips, support?
Feeling pretty crappy.
Thanks 🙏

Try Slimming World. I was referred there after knee injury and I have lost over 5stone. It really does work but PCOS might complicate things

Thanks. I have tried slimming world in the last 18 months twice, but I fall off the wagon too quickly. It also requires a fair bit of prep and I don’t have the energy or time right now. But thank you for the suggestion and well done on your amazing weight loss, what a great achievement!

For the afternoon snacking, what about the kinds of recipes that involve dark chocolate, dates, peanut butter etc that you see a lot on social media? So, a chocolate hit with less refined sugar and more protein? Plan them into your calorie total for the day.

If the snacking is associated with a specific situation (work? Home?), can you change your routine to avoid it or at least limit the amount of time you’re prone to snacking.

Wigtopia · 03/06/2025 19:18

Unfortunately I am all or nothing but for me it’s crisps rather than chocolate. I can’t trust myself to only have a small amount so I have to cut it out completely for a period of time.

would that be doable or does it sound too miserable? Reading it back, it looks miserable 🤭

Is mounjaro an option? I have PCOS and insulin resistance and have lost just over a stone in 5 weeks. I was the worst for chocolate and something sweet but don’t really think about it anymore! If I have some within my calories say 4 squares that’s it and I can stop at that!

Thanks, that is an idea. Funnily enough I bought nakd bars this week but still caved and ate chocolate.
unfortunately changing my routine in the afternoons isn’t an option in the week but it’s something to try for weekends. Thank you 🙏

I’ve tried this in the past but seem to substitute it with another vice like crisps 🤦🏻‍♀️
Maybe need to try again, thanks for the idea

Wow, that sounds like magic! I’ll be honest, I don’t know an awful lot about it, like basically nothing! 🤦🏻‍♀️ But it could be an option yes.
Well done on your brilliant loss, that’s incredible!

So you have the slimming world books still?

Read them

I loosely follow the SW principles. Im an alcoholic so I use my syn allowance on alcohol which means unless I starve, I have to eat from the free food allowance and I find that really easy and Ive lost the 2+ stone I needed too

A woman who comes to my group is a chocoholic and she uses her "syns " on that so she gets her fix - she's also loosing weight

Yes there is a bit of thinking ahead, a wee bit of planning, but just eating from the free foods and eating up to 15 syns a day you will loose weight

So my meals will be greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast, a stuffed wholemeal pitta or beans/eggs on toast for lunch and a normal dinner at night - following SW principle - lean fat free meat, half a plate of veg and a small portion of carb

I eat a very varied diet, much better then Ive ever eaten, lots of fruit and veg, lots of fish, beans and grains and fat free meat - bacon medallions, skinny burgers , turkey sausages , greek yoghurt etc - I dont miss out and I dont need to cook separate meals

You could absolutely get MJ at your BMI, yes. Have a read on the weight loss injection threads here and also MounjaroUK on reddit.

Low calorie chocolate mousse? Low calorie yoghurt? A ripe banana? Peanut butter on a couple oatcakes? A fun size chocolate that's under 100 cals? Ice lollies? (The small fruity ones) Or those mini magnums?

26dX · 04/06/2025 07:02

@Bluesky4567 it’s a game changer! If you can I’d definitely have a look into them. Or if you have any other questions just send me a message x

Nutella spread thinly on a thin cracker bread cracker fills a need. 0% Greek youghurt more filling, with a little honey.

Yes still have the books. In fact have two sets 🤦🏻‍♀️

it sounds like it’s really worked well for you!
Maybe I’ll have another look. But I have tried twice in 18 months and failed.
