Hi question about golden dose
I have a 15mg pen and trying to work out what measurement/ units in a syringe is 2.5 mg

Golden dose if what's left after you have injected 4 times. It very much depends how much you have used. I usually have about .6ml

Why are you trying to get 2.5mg from a 15mg pen? Has it been prescribed to you?

Yes but I'm now using 2.5mg per week and have 2 pens left with product still in it ?

Yes I know iv probably got 1 15mg dose left in the pen ? But I don't know how to accurately measure this in a syringe to 2.5mg?? I was doing 10 clicks of the pen for the 2.5mg dose till it stopped working

2.5mg is 16.67 percent of 15mg (2.5/15). A full dose from any pen is 0.6ml, so from the 15mg pen you would need 16.67 percent of the 0.6ml which is 0.1ml. Assuming you have 1ml syringes, you would need 10 units of the 1ml syringe. Please check my maths and workings for yourself and don’t take my word for it. If you’re going to use syringes to extract medication you should be clear on what volume of medication you need in ml, and what dose that gives you in mg.

How long have you been using the pen for?

Iv adjusted the dose to decrease it to 2.5 which I'm now on , had it 6 weeks
Know how to adjust to how many clicks are what but unsure what to put in the syringe .....I have 4 older 15mg pens with the dose left in unsyringed

You do know that the pens are only meant to be used for 30 days from first jab?

I wouldn’t be using pens that have been open for that length of time. Even 6 weeks is well beyond the 30 days expiry for an opened pen.

Every golden dose is more than 4 weeks old , and everyone who knows accurate measurements uses their golden dose , i understand the pen would be 0.06 for 1 full dose but I'm using less , so the person above confirmed my own thoughts , thanks again for answering the question I asked 😊

Your maths is correct.

It's actually 0.6ml for a full dose.

Not 0.06ml.

The expiry time limit is 30 days. A fifth dose falls within the 30 days, as you can do day 1, 8, 15, 22 and then day 29. I might go a couple of days past the 30, if I had delayed an injection for some reason, but I wouldn’t plan to use pens well beyond the 30 days on a regular basis.

How do u explain patients microdosing? Do they just throw away their pen ? As my doctor advised it is still as active, And iv also been microdosing every 3 weeks and the pen is still as active

A uk doctor has advised “microdosing” and using a pen for weeks beyond the manufacturer’s expiry? Not a doctor I’d be using for anything.

So no one " microdoses" in the uk?

I’m sure there are lots of people who take smaller doses than the standard doses, and who do all kinds of other things that no pharmacy or prescriber would suggest.

No - technically the final dose is within the dates
1st - day 0
2nd - day 8
3rd - day 15
4th - day 22
5th (bonus) - day 29
