Meal replacement diet

I have done one before and was successful until a bereavement threw me off track. Yesterday, a local short dates food warehouse had a mega Lighter Life deal -120 shakes for £5.50!!!!
So I am giving it another go, I have Exante, Slim 'n' Save, New You Plan shakes left over still and some Slender Plan bars (Superdrug seemed to have stopped these now) .
I don't think I can face doing the meals again though so will be supplementing with my own homemade soups instead.

Anyone else just starting , either for the 1st time or again?

I started slimfast again yesterday! Lost quite a bit on it in the past so hoping to lose again this time. I've put on a lot of weight so I've got that driving me at the minute... the shock of the scales yesterday floored me 🫠 how much are you hoping to lose?

HollidaySunshine · 06/05/2025 07:51

I’ve done it before, my advice would be to cut back on carbs for a couple of days before starting so you’ll get into ketosis quicker and avoid the hardest days lasting longer. Good luck

JustPickleRick · 06/05/2025 13:25

Head is pounding already, this is definitely the hardest part of it. Adjusting to the limited sugar usually takes me a good few days!

Sad to stay but between 6 and 8 stones.

Today hasn't been 100% (friend's 60th birthday cake) but I had 2 shakes and a bowl of homemade cauliflower cheese soup so I am pretty pleased with that.

When I did New You Plan for 6 months, I lost 6 stones.

I don't feel hungry on the plans , just have to get out of the snacking habit.

That's good that you aren't feeling hungry on the plan. I can't say the same about the slimfast one but I will adjust over the weeks as long as I can stick to it! Well done for managing to stay on track after having cake. My downfall is eating something I shouldn't then eating everything in sight because why not 😬
day 3 down and the headaches are slowly easing

I had 2 shakes and a healthy dinner last night, DH's friend and his wife were due a visit but I made it a diet friendly one for me.
I do feel now as if my head is there for this again.
I think the hunger goes after a couple of days.

I'm on day 4 now and it's definitely easier! My headache has eased a lot thankfully, the first few days were hard. I'm feeling good about this attempt 😅
My starting weight is 12 stone and I'm only 5ft 2 so need to lose about 3 stone 🫠 I'll weigh again on Monday, keep it weekly. Really hope i lose something as I'll be so disappointed!

@JustPickleRick good to hear the headache is going.
I haven't managed brilliantly this weekend- had DS2, DDIL, DGS and DGD staying for other DGD'S birthday so have also had her, DS3 and other DDIL here most of the time. Had the birthday party yesterday followed by my niece's baby shower today.
However, I already noticed a marked reduction in the amount of food that I ate.
Shakes for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. I go on holiday in a couple of weeks so trying to avoid the scales till then.
Good luck for the new week!

It's so hard to carry on with normal things when on a diet, particularly a shake one. Well done for getting through the party and joining in, you can't say no to everything. I had to go for a meal on Friday night but I tried to eat less on the Saturday to make up for it.
I weighed this morning and I'm now 7lbs down to 11 stone 7. I needed to see a loss to keep me going this week 😅

That’s great @JustPickleRick
I’ll be starting tomorrow.

Nodancingshoes · 12/05/2025 15:31

Ive been doing Protein works for 2 weeks. 2 shakes and a healthy meal in the evening. I've just started their Hunger Killa capsules as well. Lost about 7lbs so far - only another 3 stone to go 😱

Thank you! Are you doing the slimfast shakes too or a different avenue?

Very similar to me. I've enjoyed having that 500 calorie meal either at lunch or for dinner. Yesterday I had a bacon and egg toastie without feeling bad as I got it all under 500 calories, it was amazing 🤩 I'd happily eat that every day but trying not to eat too much bread 🙃
I need to get to about 9 stone as that was my happy weight a long time ago. 2 and a half stone 2 go! 🫠

I live abroad and can’t find slimfast, so I’ve got Shake that Weight.

Going for 2x shakes a day, a 600kcal meal that I’ll make in the evening. I need to lose 2-3 stone.

If I really struggle I can add 200kcal snacks, so I’ve some protein jelly, and eggs I can boil up if needed.

Hippywannabe · 13/05/2025 06:34

Sounds like we are all feeling positive, I had 2 shakes yesterday then a small roast dinner. I am definitely eating less within the meal than what I would have done previously.
I have a cupboard filled with different shakes-I do like the New You Plan ones but it is nice to try different ones.

I'm feeling fed up with the chocolate shakes now 😅 they're easier to stomach than any other flavour though.
I find the snacks are really helpful as I'm so hungry by mid morning.

I added some strawberries to mine yesterday which was nice. Also had a bag of Slimfast crisps at lunch which were nice.
I would like to find some bars - I loved the Slenderplan ones from Superdrug-they were half the cost of others and delicious!

I really like the slimfast chocolate caramel bars and the strawberry chocolate bars. I try to get them from superdrug as they're usually on offer. The cheesy crackers are quite nice too.
