May, nice and easy four pounds

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 01/05/2025 17:33

Anyone fancy joining us for a goal to loose 4lb in May?

Throughout March and April a few of us found that no matter what the end goal is that by breaking this down into smaller 4lb monthly chunks, it has been much more manageable (and less scary).

We all had different ways to reach our goal and different end goals.

We are a supportive bunch!

Anyone interested in focusing on 4 lbs?

That's brilliant @Doyouthinktheyknow .
Well I'm up, next day down, next day up 😂, seem to be on a plateau. We've had torrential rain so I haven't been having my usual walks, just the gym.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 28/05/2025 07:40

I’m up half a pound. Considering the big weekend I’m not worried about. Back on it this week! I’m so close to my goal!

Like @YourOnMute I’m not walking. I’ll get the treadmill back out until the rain shifts.

Thanks @Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth and @YourOnMute, I absolutely loved the empty gym on the cruise ship, it’s made me realise what I need is my own gym😜😂 My local gym has been heaving over the weekend, it’s been grim😬

Well done everyone on sticking with it, slow and steady.

I’m nearly at my goal weight too, feels so good to be able to say that. Bought some trousers in size 12 yesterday! It’s Next so generous sizing but all my other Next stuff is size 18 so I’ve come a long way.

YourOnMute · 30/05/2025 10:38

This morning I'm my heaviest weight since losing 4 kilo, so I've lost 0 over May. Disappointed is not the word for it.
I think my evening dessert will have to go. Or cut it in half. I keep 250 cals for that but I might need to reduce.
I know I work out a lot, had a very heavy weights day Wednesday evening (90% training) as I'm working up to max but come on!!!! It can't be inflammatory.

EastCoastDweller · 01/06/2025 11:14

@YourOnMute Same here. I am exactly the same weight as I was on 1st May. Have been deluding myself about my calorie intake. The good news is that my blood pressure is right down. I am pretending that the weight loss has stalled a bit as I am putting on muscle due to the strength exercises with weights. I have put on muscle over the last couple of years since I have been doing the training but not that much!
Will make more effort for June.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 01/06/2025 17:29

I haven’t managed to weigh but I really struggled this month compared to the last two months!

OP posts:
Doyouthinktheyknow · 01/06/2025 20:32

@YourOnMute and @EastCoastDweller you haven’t gained, that’s a positive! It’s keeping going through the tough times that is the real challenge so don’t give up, things will move in the right direction again I’m sure.

I have ended the month on 10 stone 12 so I am very nearly at goal weight. 2 long walks this weekend so I am knackered this evening but I’ll be at the gym tomorrow and then I have to visit family to attend my dbro’s inquest. He died horrifically in an accident last year and I think it was his death that really inspired me to sort out my lifestyle and get fit. He was a long distance runner and an absolute inspiration💙

I’m beginning to think about maintenance and how I don’t undo all the good work. I think I will continue pretty much as I am for the time being and just have a think about healthy foods I could add in and when. I feel like I have done a lot to reduce sugar and crisp cravings and don’t want to slip back into bad eating habits.

YourOnMute · 01/06/2025 22:14

Sorry for your loss@Doyouthinktheyknow . Look after yourself

So sorry for your loss @Doyouthinktheyknow💐.

I managed another 1lb so happy with that. Hoping for 4 lbs in June.

EastCoastDweller · 02/06/2025 11:55

@Doyouthinktheyknow Thanks for the encouragement and you have done amazingly especially with such a tragic personal loss. No words but🙏
I've been reflecting on why I haven't managed to lose any weight, and am basically sabotaging myself. If I can work out how to stop doing that I think I will make progress. We will see what happens in June. Also feel cross that I am essentially wishing my life away - hoping for a future when I have lost weight. I think I need to focus on one day/meal at a time.

YourOnMute · 02/06/2025 20:08

Congratulations @Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth.
That's very true @EastCoastDweller. It's so easy to get caught up in a when - when I lose weight I'll etc, but we have to love and appreciate ourselves in this moment.
My GP gave a lovely talking to a few months ago saying that I'm still myself, she sees me as myself, think of all the people that love us as we are, we are so much more that a scale weight.
I had a great gym session this morning where I hit numbers I haven't in ages and we went for lunch afterwards. I bought a lovely loaf and I've had a few slices since! I rarely buy lovely bread so I'm just going to enjoy it.
My weight dropped a little and has stayed the same for a few days. Will go up now with gym and bread but if I lose a kilo for June I'll be very happy...a kilo for June!

Ikiduknot · 15/06/2025 16:46

Late reporting back, somehow May passed in a whirl with me only losing 1.5 pounds after losing 6 pounds but then struggling to not gain it all. So I should be somewhat happy. Holiday coming up in July, so I was hoping to have 2x4pounds off for May then June. Currently I have 3pounds exactly off. Better off than on again :/
@Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth that is great well done! @EastCoastDweller sabotage is my constant “why are you doing this to yourself again?” Seriously sometimes I manage to busy myself instead but at some point I have to sit down and cannot always go to bed early.
@YourOnMute what a lovely GP and I hope you did enjoy your lovely bread!
@Doyouthinktheyknow sorry to read about your DB , hopefully now you are enjoying maintenance Flowers

anyway here’s to 4 for June

YourOnMute · 16/06/2025 14:23

Hello @Ikiduknot. Just updating to say I've lost a bit of weight and now at my lowest roughly for a number of years. If I lost another .5 in June I'd be delighted.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 19/06/2025 17:46

Well done @Ikiduknot and @YourOnMute feels like we are all getting there slowly🙏🙌

I keep moving my target weight down. Currently it’s 10st 7lb and I’ve got 2lb to go until I get there🤪 Like @YourOnMute, this is the lowest weight I’ve been for years and it does feel good!

My weight loss has slowed down this month, no more than a pound a week but I’m happy with that and I’m still going to the gym 4 times a week!

YourOnMute · 19/06/2025 18:37

I gained 0.7kg overnight 😂😂. Hopefully it's just one of those things as I was staying the same low weight for three days. This seems to be something my body does; I'll be flapping about a kg heavier for a bit before it drops.
A pound a week is great loss!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 20/06/2025 05:15

😂😂 @YourOnMute, I can really relate to that. I go up and down the same pound for days and then all of a sudden we get a downward shift!

It will be water or the heat or inflammation or something like that. Sometimes if I eat after 7pm because I’ve been at work, the scales will punish me in the morning🤪

It’s very irritating and I wish I could stop weighing myself daily but I do feel like knowing this happens and not panicking is a good habit to get into.

Ikiduknot · 04/07/2025 19:26

I finally managed it! FOUR off in June!
It was almost 5 but I made the mistake of going back on the scales to take a photo and it said only 4 but it’s definitely 4 off for June😀

hope everyone else is managing. The ice creams etc have been soooo tempting in this heat!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 05/07/2025 01:13

@Ikiduknot well done, that’s awesome👏🤩 You should be very proud.

I made it to my target weight of 10st 7lb, although now I’m 2 lb below which is quite a good place to be I think. I’m trying to gently tweak my diet to maintain but it’s a tricky balance.

Ikiduknot · 05/07/2025 17:19

@Doyouthinktheyknow congratulations! How wonderful to be 2lb below. Must feel great something I cannot ever imagine reaching but am so happy to finally have reached 4 off in a month. Wish you success in maintaining. Maybe you could report back to encourage

YourOnMute · 09/07/2025 10:40

Today I reached my lowest weight in about five years. This is only just slightly below my previous lowest weight but I've fluctuating like crazy, had a holiday, a wedding...so I just need to keep it up.
I lose weight extremely slowly. I have to balance my high calorie needs with weight loss and slowly is the only way I can do it. But as long as the scales are moving. June was more like lose .4kg rather than four pounds but I'm glad.
I need to work on my sleep. I'm terrible at saying right it's bedtime and actually following through. Last night someone messaged me at 12 (they live abroad) with an internet version of a book with sentimental value which I then stayed up longer (much longer) reading!
Well done all!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 11/07/2025 06:32

Well done @YourOnMute, that’s a huge achievement 👏
Losing it slowly is the best way I think, easier to maintain.

Hope your sleep improves, I’ve suffered from insomnia for years and it’s horrible. I fall asleep fine but don’t stay asleep! Was on HRT with no discernible improvement so came off it.

YourOnMute · 16/07/2025 16:32

Still here and reached a lower weight again, but it went back up but again not as high as previously. So a downward trend overall.
Thank you @Doyouthinktheyknow
