May, nice and easy four pounds

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 01/05/2025 17:33

Anyone fancy joining us for a goal to loose 4lb in May?

Throughout March and April a few of us found that no matter what the end goal is that by breaking this down into smaller 4lb monthly chunks, it has been much more manageable (and less scary).

We all had different ways to reach our goal and different end goals.

We are a supportive bunch!

Anyone interested in focusing on 4 lbs?

@Thegirlinthegreenscarf excellent! Loving the name, Sophie Kinsella?
@Doyouthinktheyknow well done!

I appear to be going up rather than down this week! I’m waiting for tomorrow as my ‘official’ weigh day so hopefully my body sorts itself out although it’s been a busy weekend!

@AmeliepoulainandthephotoboothSame here! 2 lbs up since yesterday, but I’m putting it down to salty (delicious) restaurant food and lots of sports electrolyte drinks yesterday, oh and the cake Blush The perfect recipe for water retention…

So not counting it-but it is interesting how weight can fluctuate so easily!

Neddevine · 06/05/2025 12:06

Bit late but yes please! 4lbs loss in May would be great! Trying to reduce carbs and exercise more. Hoping to lose at least a stone in total.

YourOnMute · 06/05/2025 16:18

So sickness and injury (not moving and feeling sorry for myself = snacking) means that I put on a kg.
So if I could lose that and another .5 I'd be delighted. So 1.5kg for May!

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 06/05/2025 20:48

@QueMaTeteFleurisse sounds worth it though!

@YourOnMute sorry that you are still unwell!

OP posts:
Doyouthinktheyknow · 06/05/2025 21:04

@YourOnMute hope you start to feel better soon, it’s tough to stick with a diet when you feel rough.

Hopefully we will all end May a little bit healthier and lighter.

I like the honesty of these threads and the recognition that weight goes up as well as down.

I do struggle when the scales go the wrong way even when I know I know I’m eating pretty well so it’s nice to know it happens to us all.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 06/05/2025 21:36

@Doyouthinktheyknow I feel the same, it’s easy to be disheartened when everyone is losing and you are going up or staying the same so it’s lovely to have no pressure and no judgement.

I just had macaroni cheese after my first time back to the gym in months 😂 I worked hard for it but tomorrow’s weigh in might be interesting!

I'm in again after my failed April attempt. The holidays are looming ever closer so 4lb in May would be good.
Low carbing and avoiding snacking, boozing and chocolate scoffing is my general weight loss plan, with a bit of running thrown in for good measure.
Good luck everyone. 🍀🤞

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 07/05/2025 06:17

Up 1.5lbs. To be explained after last nights activity and carbs!

Welcome back @mamaduckbone

@Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth everyone loves Becky 🤣

I am the same as you guys things not going great this week. Need to try and pull it back 🤞 I've done no exercise had fries with half a pizza last night and also have had a few gins this week 😳 I just can't get my head into it.

TokyoKyoto · 07/05/2025 12:51

I'm the same, so down half a pound on 1st May still.

But: I found a bunch of posts under an old username, and I am down a stone since last year. I had actually forgotten I was so much heavier. That's made me feel really good because I've managed to keep most of it off.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 07/05/2025 14:29

@TokyoKyoto that’s great. And just shows that it’s helpful to look at the bigger picture! I might be 1.5lbs up from last week but I’m 13 pounds less than I was on the 10th March.

I’m rubbish with the ‘react’ button at the bottom of individual posts😅so apologies to anyone who is confused by my emoji reaction(s)! I was trying to clap in praise of efforts but it means agree and thumbs up means thanks which I thought would mean well done so apologies!
I am struggling as per :( but determined to try for the four pounds off in a month. So far I’ve lost 2 but it’s creeping backwards so I keep trying to stop that and get heading in the better direction.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 07/05/2025 20:17

Well done @Ikiduknot

My knee is still quite sore but making the effort.
I logged into an app I last used a year ago and I'm 4 kg lighter than I was then, which is something to be proud of. It all adds up.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 08/05/2025 06:43

@YourOnMute sorry that your knee is still causing you pain. Well done on the 4kg!

Sunshineofyourlove · 08/05/2025 06:53

Thanks for this sensible idea -it sounds doable - I lost 4lb in April and then put one back on so with a bit more focus I should be fine.

I tried slimPod for a year and it didn't work, so I am back to weighing myself and logging everything I eat in MFP. It has worked before and it will work again if I stick to it.

I run 3 5k 3 or 4 times a week and go to a yoga class and a pilates class. Fairly active lifestyle, no alcohol. It's definitely harder for me to lose weight now than it was a few years ago: hormones. I'm nearly 48.

Looking forward to chatting on here and keeping each other on track.

QueMaTeteFleurisse · 08/05/2025 11:50

@Sunshineofyourlove yes age doesn’t help, I’m post menopausal but still struggle.
141lbs again today, but that’s after a two day family celebration, so it feels like a loss!
Weekend away with friends coming up-usually boozy and foodie. I’m mostly good at eating properly during the week, but the weekends are a bit more challenging! I love food and eating with friends and family, just need to remember that I’ll feel better if I don’t eat tons of crap and alcohol.
Note to self:
enjoy it, get tipsy then stop before I eat all the puddings and drink all the wine
Maybe I’ll set a timer on my watch for a certain time of nightBlush

YourOnMute · 09/05/2025 12:08

So after back to work and four days of walks, gym, calorie counting, I'm up weight 😂. I hope this is just a temporary water gain/inflammation from starting back. I won't lose the faith!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 09/05/2025 15:00

Age definitely doesn’t help, I’m 51 this year and it’s the first time I’ve managed to lose weight for probably a decade🫣
I’m 25lb’s down since the end of January today, another 6lb ish and I’ll be happy. I’ll still be the upper end of a healthy BMI but it feels sustainable for me. I’ve never been slender.

Well done @YourOnMute, definitely keep the faith, you will probably find a sudden shift in the next day or 2.

Sunshineofyourlove · 10/05/2025 09:33

@Doyouthinktheyknow 25lb is a fantastic result, well done and good luck with the last few -always the toughest.

I weigh on a Saturday morning so there's time to correct any weekend indulgences during the sensible week. 1lb down today, 12st 1.

Headstarttohappiness · 10/05/2025 10:07

I’m in - I have lost 7lb this year but seem stuck now and I have another 7lb to lose.

I am post menopausal and have had some less than fabulous health news recently for which weight loss and waist size reduction is strongly advised!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 10/05/2025 10:22

Thanks @Sunshineofyourlove, I feel so much better for it!

Welcome @Headstarttohappiness, 7lb down is great, hopefully the support from this thread can help you through your plateau. Losing weight as a menopausal or post menopausal woman is not easy!

Sorry to hear you have had some difficult health news. My health was the driver for me losing weight and I do feel so much better for it! My knees are hurting so much less too!

Hlglu56 · 11/05/2025 10:10

A nice 3lbs lost this week.

I’ve been calorie counting and eating healthy all week but then last night had too many glasses of Prosecco and some cake. I’m back on the healthy eating today though.
