I am 45 and 5ft 2". I have been a size 6/8 for most of my adult life. I put on about a stone in lockdown. Managed to lose it (largely through stress) for my wedding a couple of years ago, and have since piled it back on, mainly through too much cheese and wine and a love of cooking/feeding other people. I eat mostly low carb and Mediterranean style but have become a bit more lax, I don't really snack and do a fair amount of exercise (including strength training) I'm now more a size 10 with a small spare tyre and a large chest. I detest my body like this. On a short, small frame, 1 stone is a lot and really shows. Yesterday I didn't even want to leave the house with my husband to go for a drink in the sun as I thought I looked hideous. Today it all changes. I have started working with an online wellness/fitness coach recently and she said something this morning that made me stop and think - how sad it is that people literally don't want to be in photo's with their families because of their weight. This is me. I hate that I am so hard on myself because of my size and speak to myself in a way I'd never speak to anyone else. I hate that for the last few years every nice thing we've done, has always had the niggling thought that I'd enjoy it more if I were a stone lighter. I know I have lots of 'mind work' to do aorund my relationship with my weight (hence the coach) but on the physical front today is re-set. Binning the alcohol, more strict with the carbs and cheese. I aim to lose 7lbs in the next 4/5 weeks. Posting here for accountability really. Anyone else having a 're-set' today? Good luck!

Goodvibesonly · 04/10/2025 14:43

I also saw 8st 5 this morning although I weighed later than usual (hoping it still counts!). This coming week is going to be hard as I get my period next week and I am typically hungrier than usual and the scales always shows a small rise which is always disheartening! I’ve been doing 5:2 the last week which I think is helping. I think I need the discipline over the coming week! I am also hoping to be 8st (or even below!) by Christmas but I know that once I get to 8st 2 my weight loss tends to stall 😭

Autumnleaves82 · 05/10/2025 17:01

@Emmadaily Well done! That’s incredible progress.

@Goodvibesonly We both seem to be progressing at a similar same rate and also have the same Christmas goal! What calories are you having on your fasting and non-fasting days on 5:2? I tried this last year, but found it hard to hit the higher calories that Nutracheck suggested for the non-fasting days and then I think I just ended up under-eating over the week. I know that should result in fat loss, but it seemed to work against me/my body. It’s great that it’s working for you. I had considered doing it again, so would be good to know how it’s working for you. I’m currently using Nutracheck to track calories but looking at the overall calories over the week, rather than each day, which seems to be working well.

Goodvibesonly · 06/10/2025 21:37

I finally have a weight loss twin @Autumnleaves82 ! How exciting!!

Non fasting day are between 1200-1300 calories. I’m not too strict with myself and if I go over then it’s not a problem.

Fasting days are between 500-700 calories. Again not too strict but I like the discipline and it helps keep
me in check. I like to fast on busier days and eat one meal in the evening with the family. Some days are harder than others though and I felt very lightheaded today (low blood sugar?).

I also allow for one treat meal a week, usually Sunday evenings. I need that balance to keep me going and I think it makes fasting easier on a Monday lol!

How about u? I’ve forgotten what your height is? Is your goal weight 8st? How many calories do you have daily?

Pinkiesheetie · 07/10/2025 15:16

My PT session today went well! If it helps me lose weight that’s a bonus but I’m more focused on my overall fitness and alleviating joint pain.

well done @Emmadaily glad SW is going well for you - is your weight goal 9stone 2?

I don’t have the Happy scale @Autumnleaves82 but I have an app for my scales which is good for recording and tracking my progress.

I’m still at 65kg but I did gorge while on my period last week.

My appetite has gone back to normal this week and I’m back on 2 meals a day with a min of 30 minutes exercise.

I’ve started drinking hibiscus tea in the evening as it’s lovely and sweet. My shopping is coming tomorrow and I’ve made sure not to have any sugary treats.

I’m not cutting out sugar completely, instead I’m making a conscious effort to have a drizzle of honey on my oats or yoghurt and to eat fruit daily to keep the sugar cravings at bay.

Goodvibesonly · 12/10/2025 09:23

Hi all, just checking in as it’s weigh day for me. Over the moon to see that I have lost another pound and am 8st 4lbs! Honestly so shocking given that I am due my period today and usually gain weight the week beforehand. The food noise is usually amplified during this time as well but I have worked so hard on trying to have only one snack a day. How are u all doing?

Emmadaily · 13/10/2025 14:32

@Pinkiesheetie
Yes 8stone 2 pounds is my goal
SW allow to go under by 3 and half pounds without any thing be said/ done so would like go a bit lower with Christmas coming up and that's fine fir me.
You are doing fabulous and will look up the tea you are drinking as does sound quite nice ☺
Good luck everyone for this week xx
Always like a new week .

Emmadaily · 13/10/2025 14:33

Sorry 9 stone 2 xx

Emmadaily · 13/10/2025 15:57

@Goodvibesonly
That's great and well done
Oh it's lovely when you get a surprise like this
You certainly earned that pound off 👏 x

Goodvibesonly · 18/10/2025 22:20

Thanks so much @Emmadaily😊

Just checking in to see how everyone is getting on. I did my final week weigh in today (normally do it on a Sunday) as I knew we were going out for a meal today so scale would show a (false) rise tomorrow! Pretty much maintained this week which is good as it wasn’t the best of weeks! Planning to be a bit more diligent next week and get that scale moving again!

Emmadaily · 18/10/2025 23:03

Goodvibesonly · 26/10/2025 10:54

Hi everyone, just checking in to see how u are all doing! Last week was absolutely crazy for me and I just didn’t have time to eat well as I was constantly on the go. The scales fluctuated wildly everyday so I was pleased to see that I had lost 1/4 pound this morning! A very small loss but I’ll take it! I’ve had a look at the calendar and it’s aound 8 weeks till Christmas. I’m not sure if I’ll reach my goal at this very slow rate but if I can get below 8 stone, I will be elated!

This coming week is going to be challenging. Those of u who have small kids and are on half term, I wish u all the best of luck!! @Emmadaily I’m gonna take a leaf out of yr book and meal plan for the week! Yr salad sounded amazing!

Autumnleaves82 · 26/10/2025 20:27

Hi all. Sorry, I’ve just realised I’ve not checked in here for a couple of weeks. Crazy busy! I’ll try to go back and catch up on posts I’ve missed (sorry if I’ve missed anything or any new people), but thought I’d send a quick message now as I have 5 minutes.

I’m still hovering around 8st6. I’d love to get to 8st by Christmas but not sure how likely that is.

@Goodvibesonly Well done on your loss. Are you still doing 5:2?

How’s everyone else getting on?

Autumnleaves82 · 01/11/2025 08:49

It’s gone quiet on here. Maybe due to half term?

How’s everyone doing?

I’ve gone back up to 8st8 again this morning. I’m not really sure why, but pleased that I weigh daily as I am seeing that fluctuations do happen, often for no obvious reason. I don’t think 8st is very likely now by Christmas, but all I can do is keep going.

MightyGoldBear · 01/11/2025 12:25

Hello everyone I'm still here. I had a little break due to a million celebrations birthdays half term🙈 really not helpful to eating well or exercising.

I'm now doing 8/16 fasting using a app to track it. It's the most simple way I can keep motivation and consistency. I'm down to 11.3 and still hoping to see 10 on the scales by Christmas even if its the very upper side.

I genuinely can't imagine getting down to 9 stone but that's what I was for years. I'm not sure what my ideal comfortable weight is but its definitely not in the 11s.

Goodvibesonly · 02/11/2025 09:08

Hi all, sorry about the silence, it’s been another hectic week. I’m still maintaining on 8.4 although, like yrself @Autumnleaves82 I weigh daily and see daily fluctuations. I’ve gone between 8.5 and 8.3 but will accept today’s weigh in as the final one for this week.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m looking forward to a bit of normality next week. I need the routine!

@Autumnleaves82 I’m still doing 5:2 but only managed it one day last week and one day the week before. The rest of the time I try and do 16:8. I really do find that fasting keeps me in check and controls my appetite. I used be able to eat loads and still feel hungry but find myself feeling fuller quicker and not needing to snack as much between meals (my downfall!). Fasting is the only real thing that has worked for me. Do u find the same @MightyGoldBear?

Good luck everyone for the week ahead! I’m also hoping to be in the next stone category by Christmas! Fingers crossed!!

MightyGoldBear · 02/11/2025 09:51

@Goodvibesonly
Yes I find doing a 16:8 is the best way for me. Its definitely something I see results with fastest. I can maintain even when the children are off on holidays.Which is always a manic time. I have a app that makes it super simple. I just can't calorie count it overwhelms me so knowing my eating window and that's it feels so simple.

I'm not sure about doing a 5:2 though 🙈 Maybe if I plateau.

Goodvibesonly · 02/11/2025 10:34

What is your eating window @MightyGoldBear? Mine is 10am till 6pm. It works for me as I don’t typically feel hungry in the evenings so I have an early dinner with the kids and then stop eating (keep drinking though!). I’ve really had to train myself to stave off the hunger from when I wake up until 10am though 🙈

Also, which app are u using?

Goodvibesonly · 09/11/2025 11:12

Hi all, it’s gone very quiet on here! I’m just checking in after Sunday weigh in and pleased to report that I’m now 8st 3lbs (top end of 8.3 but 8.3 nonetheless!). Honestly words cannot describe how I feel, I haven’t been this weight in over two years! I usually get to 8.4 and then my weight spirals back up.

This week, I’m really going to knuckle down and focus on eating healthy, well balanced meals. Kids are back at school and childcare so I really don’t have an excuse!

Hope yr all keeping well x

MightyGoldBear · 09/11/2025 15:40

Well done @Goodvibesonlythat's some good going.
Yes I have a similar window to you usually 10 30 am till 6.30pm it's hard in the morning but I find the evening fine actually. Its definitely the way forward for me. I'm 10.13 now although partly due to a sickness bug but I'll take it 😂 has to be some silver linings. I was 11.9 in summer so definitely going in the right direction.

Autumnleaves82 · 09/11/2025 16:01

Well done @Goodvibesonly and @MightyGoldBear

After going up to 8st8 last week (for no reason), I’ve been bouncing around 8st7 this week.

I’m feeling really weak, tired and just ‘not right’ this weekend. I’m not sure if I’m slightly unwell or if I’m not quite getting my calorie intake right. It’s so hard to get the balance of being in a deficit to lose fat, whilst eating enough to fuel myself for exercise and my fairly high step count.

Goodvibesonly · 09/11/2025 16:29

Well done @MightyGoldBear u reached the next stone bracket!! Sorry to hear about yr sickness bug though! Do u still drink hot drinks in your fasting window? I still have coffee with a tiny bit of milk, I’m not sure I could cope in the morning otherwise 😬

@Autumnleaves82 there is definitely something going around, hope u feel better soon. Finding the right calorie intake is difficult, how many calories are u on now? I definitely need less as I don’t exercise. I try and do 10k steps per day and some light toning exercises but that’s about it. I find 1300 cals works for me. I’ve been on lower than this and didn’t lose weight which amazes me!

Autumnleaves82 · 09/11/2025 18:11

@Goodvibesonly I’ve just looked at my weekly & monthly report on Nutracheck - I’m averaging just under 1400 calories per day (the average is helpful as some days are more around 1300 and others 1500).

I walk approx 20,000 steps a day and do a Caroline Girvan weights workout 5 days per week (but I only lift 5 or 7kg for upper and 10kg for lower, so not particularly heavy). So I guess my calories are about right?

It sounds like you are being really successful on 1300 calories and you are doing so well with your weight loss at the moment. You are really inspiring me!

Goodvibesonly · 10/11/2025 15:06

@Autumnleaves82 Aww that’s so lovely of you to say! Honestly, I feel like we’re all motivating each other — hearing your journey and determination inspires me too! We’re all on this path together, and it’s so encouraging to see how far we’ve all come. You’re doing amazing — just keep going, one step at a time!

MightyGoldBear · 10/11/2025 16:34

@Goodvibesonlyyes I have a hot camomile tea no milk. Its a bit sad looking. I think when I am around my ideal weight,I will relax a little. I find if I just stick to water I drink less, then become dehydrated.I need some flavour in my life!
