I am 45 and 5ft 2". I have been a size 6/8 for most of my adult life. I put on about a stone in lockdown. Managed to lose it (largely through stress) for my wedding a couple of years ago, and have since piled it back on, mainly through too much cheese and wine and a love of cooking/feeding other people. I eat mostly low carb and Mediterranean style but have become a bit more lax, I don't really snack and do a fair amount of exercise (including strength training) I'm now more a size 10 with a small spare tyre and a large chest. I detest my body like this. On a short, small frame, 1 stone is a lot and really shows. Yesterday I didn't even want to leave the house with my husband to go for a drink in the sun as I thought I looked hideous. Today it all changes. I have started working with an online wellness/fitness coach recently and she said something this morning that made me stop and think - how sad it is that people literally don't want to be in photo's with their families because of their weight. This is me. I hate that I am so hard on myself because of my size and speak to myself in a way I'd never speak to anyone else. I hate that for the last few years every nice thing we've done, has always had the niggling thought that I'd enjoy it more if I were a stone lighter. I know I have lots of 'mind work' to do aorund my relationship with my weight (hence the coach) but on the physical front today is re-set. Binning the alcohol, more strict with the carbs and cheese. I aim to lose 7lbs in the next 4/5 weeks. Posting here for accountability really. Anyone else having a 're-set' today? Good luck!

How’s everyone doing?

@Chubbybetty I don’t think you’ve posted for a while? Not hassling you, but just wanted to check if you are ok?

I’m finding there’s some things that are easier over the summer, (eg. enjoying lots of salads) but some things are harder such as changes in routine, holidays and events, etc.

My Happy Scale app is looking positive for the last 90 days, but is really discouraging when I look at the last year. I am genuinely still trying to lose weight that I gained in a few days over Easter (when I didn’t even eat that much!).

Hi @Autumnleaves82 , looks like you're doing really well! Sorry for my silence. Frankly I feel embarrassed. I started the thread with every intention of losing a stone by now. As it turns out I feel like I've been on a three month bender with so many social occasions and 'sod it it's great weather, let's BBQ and drink cider' weekends, and nothing has changed. I'm still around 8st 10/11 and feel bloated and horrible. I now have two weeks until my birthday and a mini break. I really do intend getting a grip between now and then, and after that I'm really getting serious to aim to definitely be 8st by Christmas. Well done to everyone who's not completely blown it like me!

@Chubbybetty
Sounds like you have been having a great time ☺
Good luck for the next 2 weeks
It's sure to set you right again.
After your birthday Christmas goal starts
and all will be good as you do sound quite determined .

Chubbybetty · 20/08/2025 15:34

Thanks for the encouragement @Emmadaily !

Lovely to hear from you @Chubbybetty I think it’s important to be able to enjoy life (especially during the nice weather). Hope your next couple of weeks are successful for you.

I’m keen to join you in having a target of 8st by Christmas. I’m not sure if it will happen (it’s taken me 4 months to lose 4 pounds!) but I would definitely like to have a clear focus and would love to be as close as possible to 8st by Christmas.

MunsteadWood · 30/08/2025 08:16

Checking in again here too! I posted a few weeks back with all good intentions but then like @Chubbybetty have been embarrassed I’ve not been able to make them a reality. I’m now back from holiday and resolved to make a change. I’m now 9 1/4 stone but would like to get down closer to 8 1/2, as quickly as I can while keeping it sustainable. It’s not a huge change but my clothes are all too tight / don’t fit as I’d like them too and I don’t like my body at present. I’ve got a big birthday later in the year which is a goal to aim for, plus I want to shop all the lovely autumnal things coming into the shops but I know at present I’ll just be annoyed with how they look! Started again with MFP yesterday and logged 1250 calories. New running shoes coming in the post today. We can do it!

Chubbybetty · 30/08/2025 08:40

@MunsteadWood good to hear from you! I'm still here, still not making progress really (food not great, drinking too much wine but am at least till working out almost daily, so at least one healthy habit in place) but today is a new day! most of our Summer frivolities are now out of the way (except my birthday next week and a short UK break) so I feel more equipped now to knuckle down for Autumn/Winter without too many distractions.

OP posts:
Chubbybetty · 30/08/2025 08:49

@MunsteadWood I meant to add, yes we can do it! Great hat you're going to get out running. Great idea to have a goal event too - mine is Christmas by which time I WILL be 8 stone!

OP posts:
MunsteadWood · 30/08/2025 21:37

@Chubbybetty well done on the workouts. What have you been doing? I started a new job a few months back which involves a long commute so I’ve been struggling to find the time for exercise but am aiming to fit in at least a couple of decent sessions of cardio (run, swim) in the week plus strength training which I can do at home.

Totally with you on the wine, holidays have made that hard to avoid! I’ve realised my issue with food is not so much that I’m eating unhealthily, more that my portion sizes are way off and I’m snacking too much. I often end up eating similar amounts to DH who is both bigger than me and hugely into sports. Must stop!

Emmadaily · 01/09/2025 17:55

Hi everyone
Hope you are all doing well
Not reported in for a while so thought I would whilst having a few mins before the dishes are washed .
I am now 10 stone so that's a loss of 12 pounds since joining S.W
I'm very happy how it's all going
Really didn't expect this so I'm definitely on my way to my goal of 9 stone 2 pounds ☺
I may even change my goal to 9 stone so will see how that goes.
The size 10s jeans are in reach for my daughters 40th birthday birthday meal out the end of October.
Hope everyone as a good week.
Next weigh in meeting is this Saturday morning already looking forward to it.

MightyGoldBear · 03/09/2025 12:26

Hello everyone looks like some great progress since I last checked in. I'm starting again from today as August was a write off with holidays/kids etc

🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 really hoping I can see 10 on the scales soon.

Autumnleaves82 · 17/09/2025 16:52

How’s everyone doing?

I’m currently bouncing around 8st7. It’s SO slow! It’s taken me approximately 5 months to lose 5 pounds. But I guess at least it’s moving in the right direction after I had many weeks of not losing anything. I definitely recommend using something like Happy Scale to log your weight if, like me, you can bounce up/down by a few pounds each day. I’m still aiming for around 8 stone (or whatever weight reduces the tummy fat!).

Pinkiesheetie · 18/09/2025 06:11

Haven’t posted here in aaaages.

Well done everyone on the progress or getting back on the weight loss wagon if you’ve fallen off along the way.

Nothing much has changed with me on the scales but when I posted a few Spain holiday pics earlier this month, I got a lot of compliments. Noone explicitly said I’d lost weight but I could tell by their comments that was at least partly what they were referring to. And anyway I could see it even if they couldn’t. Most of my size 8 dresses sat well on me except for one which highlighted my stomach. Bad dress! 😂 nah I actually really like it and it’s motivated me to keep losing the weight.

I am back home now and at around 10 stone 5 which I think is about what i was
before I went on my trip at the end of August.

I had a tough time in August leading up to my holiday. I lost a friend to illness sadly, so wasn’t really weighing myself as much or being as strict with the diet but I'm proud I didn’t resort to bingeing to deal with the grief.

I have been a bit ravenous since I got back from Spain so I want to do a 2 day water only fast to reset my diet soon and see if I can reduce my cravings a bit. I have a lot on this weekend so maybe the weekend after this one I’ll try it.

MunsteadWood · 18/09/2025 07:03

I’m struggling! Have gone down maybe 2-3lbs but it’s not enough to make a difference yet to how I look and feel. Out for dinner tonight too with some very dear friends which will make things still and have been struggling to exercise with busy period at work / DH travelling a lot with his meaning I need to be at home a lot with the kids. Can anyone suggest any good home workout routines? Particularly keen for strength training but cardio welcome too. I’ve got a yoga mat, stretchy bands, small dumbbells.

Emmadaily · 19/09/2025 09:11

Morning everyone hope all is going well ☺
Thought I would update my progress here.
I am now in another stone zone which i reached 2 weeks ago then last week after a one and half pound off I hit the one stone off. So pleased with how it all going
Still expecting a maintain week but so far it's a loss each week one week only being half a pound . Will report back here tomorrow as my slimming world class is tomorrow.
If I lose one pound that's 10 per cent off my body weight so will see .
Have a great weekend everyone x

Goodvibesonly · 20/09/2025 21:18

Hi all, I would love to join this group if possible? I’m 4’11” and having been trying to lose the last stone of baby weight for almost 4 years now! I seem to lose and gain the same 10lbs, it’s so frustrating! Currently sitting at 8st 7lbs but look and feel best at 7st 7lbs. My downfall is definitely the weekends when so much is going on! I really need to put a meal plan in place on Friday to stop me from picking and eating in excess. I’ve also downloaded MFP to help me track.

Autumnleaves82 · 21/09/2025 08:58

@Pinkiesheetie Sorry to hear you had a tough August. That’s great that you had compliments and that you can see the difference in your clothes.

@MunsteadWood What’s your starting point for home workouts? Are you a beginner or already have some level of fitness? I have a few things I could recommend depending on what you are looking for.

@Emmadaily Well done on your great progress!

@Goodvibesonly Welcome! Hopefully you’ve seen from this thread that a few of us are shorter and have similar targets and/or are struggling to lose a few pounds. Do you have a specific plan?

Goodvibesonly · 21/09/2025 17:45

Thanks @Autumnleaves82Smile

My plan is simple and boring lol - calorie deficit and IF. It has worked for me in the past so hoping it works again! Trying to stick to 1200 (I don’t do any exercise, just walk £10k steps) and eat between 10am and 6pm. I’m trying to stick to the same types
of food so I don’t have to put a lot of thought into meal planning as I just have too much going on to add in that extra stress!

I’ve completed week one and am 1lb down. I am pleased but secretly wish I was one of those people that had a massive loss on week 1 lol.

Pinkiesheetie · 21/09/2025 22:10

Thanks @Autumnleaves82 yeah it’s reassuring that others can see the difference too now and it’s nice for my clothes to be more flattering.

I am starting a no refined sugar (fruit is allowed) diet on October 1st and I’m considering doing my own version of the “75 soft” challenge to get me to Christmas.

Pinkiesheetie · 24/09/2025 09:22

Hey how’s everyone doing?

I have lost a KG on the scale since I last posted despite eating a fair amount of sweets over the weekend (3 packs of haribo type sweets) so I’m at my lowest since coming back from holiday.

Reeeally trying to keep it going and not fall of the wagon as I’ve been here before, currently 65kg and my goal weight for this year is around 58Kg so I am making my next milestone 64. Small progress is still progress!

I am planning to do the fast on Monday and Tuesday. Black coffee and water only! Fruit if I ever get really hungry.

Finally started back at the gym and have a free session with a PT booked for next week. I am doing about 7K steps daily.

Autumnleaves82 · 27/09/2025 09:27

Well done @Pinkiesheetie on the 1kg loss. Hope you enjoy your PT session.

My Happy Scale app ‘moving average’ is currently 8st6. It’s still so slow, but I am still slowly moving in the right direction. It’s helpful for me to look back at my various posts on this thread since April to see that, although my progress is very slow, there is still progress.

Does anyone else use Happy Scale? I just have the free version. Does anyone pay for the Deluxe version?

How’s everyone else doing?

I find this thread so helpful for sharing our struggles and our successes.

Goodvibesonly · 27/09/2025 17:29

Wow @Autumnleaves82we are the exact same weight! I weighed in at 8st 6 this morning. I’m finding the process extremely slow especially as I have been so busy the last couple of days that I’ve barely had time to eat! Today is a different story though, I’ve been to two different birthday parties and as much as I have been mindful of my eating, birthday cakes are my weakness!! Oh well, it’s another day tomorrow!

I don’t have my happy scale, I use MFP but am so tempted to puchase Nutra Check as it gets rave reviews.

Autumnleaves82 · 28/09/2025 07:40

@Goodvibesonly I use Nutracheck. I think it is so much better than MFP. I think you can do a 7 day free trial?

Happy Scale is for tracking weight. It shows trends and is particularly helpful if you weigh daily/regularly as the fluctuations just become data that contribute to the overall trend.

Chubbybetty · 03/10/2025 09:47

Hi Gang. I am back after being MIA for a long time. How is everyone getting on? I have stepped on the scale for the first time in weeks this morning. Was not as bad as I expected but also not great. I have circa ten lbs to lose and about ten weeks until Christmas. I'm on it! I will go back to one 24 hour fast per week as this really helped me earlier in the year, and am digging out my Fast 800 receipe books as there's loads of recipes we love. Possibly one meal a day but undecided so far. I'm also going to post more regularly for accountability and for you lovely guys t help keep me on track. 😀.

Autumnleaves82 · 04/10/2025 11:16

Hi @Chubbybetty Lovely to hear from you. That’s good that your weight is not as bad as you expected. You sound very focused.

I was 8st6.5 this morning. I’ve seen 8st5.5 and 8st7 on the scales this week. The fluctuations are one of the reasons I like to weigh daily and log on the Happy Scale app. If I weighed weekly, I wouldn’t know if I might have been heavier/lighter the day before. I would love to get to 8st by Christmas. I’m not sure if it is possible based on my very slow loss since Easter, but we’ll see! I’m also aiming to check-in here regularly.

How’s everyone else getting on?
