Upset over mother's comments on weight loss

Over the past 10 weeks I've lost 20lbs.

I'm now in a healthy weight range for the first time since having my two babies (age 2, and a 4 month old).

My mother made a comment which has really upset me. I sent a photo to our family WhatsApp chat, just from a day out to show them what we'd been up to over the Easter weekend.

My mother said that I'd "lost too much, too fast", and her comment has really upset me.

I've lost an average of 2lbs a week over ten weeks. I haven't done any crash dieting or anything crazy. I've just started exercising, and eating nutritious meals full of veggies, protein, healthy fats, carbs.

Her comment has upset me loads. Need some advice on how to deal with negativity and how to not let it get to me please.

My mum says this, don’t lose anymore you’ll look ill. I’m still overweight with a bmi of 29.7.
i just ignore it or smile then move on

Why did "You've lost too much too fast", upset you so much when you know it's not true? 😳

If she said the sky is green would it upset you?

Tell her to mind her business if she doesn't have something nice to say. You have done a great job and should be proud of yourself .

Did she say that on the group chat? I would be annoyed at that. She could have just liked the photo or said 'lovely photo' or something similar. If she does have a concern it's something she should raise with you privately.

Yes I think ignoring will be the best thing to do going forward!

I think I was annoyed that she couldn't just say "Well done on losing the weight, that must have been hard work'. Instead she said something which I have taken to heart.

Thank you, you're right. I should be proud of myself and just ignore the comment! 🙏🏻

Yes she made the comment on the group chat.
My sister then said "I think you look healthy!" ❤️
My plan is just to ignore the comments going forward. 💪🏻

Good on your sister! Your Mum could do with a lesson in tact. She shouldn't have made that comment to the whole family.
