I usually get two bars of 80% green and blacks chocolate a week, I thought there would be hardly any calories in them since they’re 80% cocoa, and it’s a small bar, but they’re over 500 calories per bar! And I wondered why I wasn’t losing weight

Isn't more that real chocolate has healthy flavonoids as opposed to all the sugary, oil stuff in regular chocolate.

Also it's quite hard to just scoff down 80% chocolate compared to milk ( which van be inhaled on a bad day).

MummyShah369 · 18/04/2025 16:40

Aww I do like a green and blacks but I will now need to hold back oh well what to do…

RealityContinuesToRuinMyLife · 18/04/2025 16:41

It can’t be that small if it’s 500 calories.
The small moser Roth (25g) 85% dark have 152 calories in each.

Really? I find it frighteningly easy to scoff- even the 90% stuff. (So I don’t buy it.)

Yeah I don't know TBF. It's what all the nutritionists say...
I only use dark chocolate in torte and that I can eat in industrial quantities.

Ooo is it a bit-flour one? 🤤

Sorry I’m probably not being very helpful. 😊

NUT. FLOUR.

BottleBlondeMachiavelli · 18/04/2025 16:51

Actually I’ve thought of something constructive:

OP, freeze it in squares, if you really have bad cravings. Eat like micro-lollies.

JohnTheRevelator · 18/04/2025 17:09

OMG OP,with all due respect, did you really think that ANY chocolate was low calorie?!

FiveTreeHill · 18/04/2025 17:19

Obviously chocolate has calories

The idea behind dark chocolate is that you don't need much to fulfill that chocolate craving, plus its less sugary and generally better for you

2 bars a week is averaging about 150kcal a day. That reasonable for a desert that's going to fulfill your chocolate cravings. Not much more than a banana or an apple. It's not that alone preventing you from losing weight

Slightly off topic but aligned to the 'healthy so must be low in calories' thought process, TheFitnessChef on Insta is great for illustrating how easy it is to underestimate 'healthy' calories whilst berating yourself wildly for a minor slip up involving a small Kit Kat.
