I’ve been on a weight loss journey for the past month, I’ve been consistently losing everyday with few exceptions which has been really encouraging! I’m currently on my period, final day today but for the past 5 days I’ve weighed exactly the same give or take a few ounces gained! Its so frustrating please tell me its gonna start going down again when my period ends im losing motivation to keep going 🙁

It didn’t happen when I was younger. But now I’m in peri menopause it does. It can fluctuate a lot. Then one day I will stand on the scales and I will loose three pounds in a few days. Don’t get discouraged it will go down. U are losing u just cannot see it. Keep going.

i think there is an element of water retention prior to and during menses.

Yes, plus I think my body demands twice the calories so I find it impossible to stick to my goals. I can gain in 5 days more than I can lose in the rest of the month so I have to be really strict all month now if I want any overall loss. And I don’t get the 3lb whoosh after my period either anymore.

I’m 45 and recently noticed I gain like 3 lbs during ovulation and around same just before my period! It sucks but usually comes off

Update it’s ended now, last day was Tuesday, weighed exactly the same for 5 days then since have dropped 2lb which I know is the retained water, thank god, I lost 3 stone a few years ago after having my 2nd and I never had an issue with this, maybe now I’m in my 30’s it’s different. But at least now when it happens next month I won’t be so discouraged, thanks for your help 🙂

Yes, gain through water retention during ovulation and absolutely plateau in the run-up to my period (and during).
