Craving a box of magnums

Mylovemine · 13/04/2025 17:45

I need to lose about 3 or 4 stone. I am craving a box of magnums, I can never just have one. I love the texture of the icecream, and the cracking of the chocolate. I feel like justifying it because my life is very miserable but I know that doesn’t make sense, I need something healthy that will satisfy my craving

A real fruit ice lolly, would that help?

WHM0101 · 13/04/2025 17:53

Make ice lollies using Shaken Udder protein chocolate milkshake.

It's never justified to eat a whole box of magnums! Unless your dying of starvation and that's the only food around.

Cerialkiller · 13/04/2025 18:07

How do you usually feel after eating a while box of Magnus? I assume not great? Can you focus on that feeling?

Another trick I find helpful is to watch people gorging on the craved foodstuff. Google Mukbang chocolate or ice-cream and there will be lots. I usually feel put off after that.

I sympathise. I'm a binge eater (kind of) in recovery. Try and distract yourself for a bit, drink a hot drink and generally it will pass.

I dont know if it would help to think about all the starving people in the world? Sometimes if I'm down or having a bad day it helps to remember I have it better than a lot of people, don't know if the same applies to looking at your food? Dont be gluttonous and greedy when food is so scarce for so many.

The Brain Over Binge podcasts by Kathryn Hansen really helped me to stop and think when I got the binge urge.

70% chocolate with a handful of nuts and a cup of rooibos tea with milk.

GildedRage · 13/04/2025 18:42

get through your day, add in a walk and after supper have ONE.
and yes you need to stick to one and done.

Icanttakethisanymore · 13/04/2025 18:46

Don’t buy a box for goodness sake. Go out for a walk after dinner and swing by a shop and buy ONE.

honestly, you also need to just accept that you can’t have everything you want, that’s just life.

I feel your pain; I have always managed to control my appetite, however I have up wine post-menopause, as I simply couldn't handle it any more, but replaced it with a 'crunch' craving . I absolutely crave anything with a crunchy bit to it - it now mainly sweet things. I've put on half a stone. Sigh.

I think that would be nice

start at 70 and over a few weeks slowly move to 85 or 90. Try to make a bar last a week (I fail at that but it’s my one sweet vice. I have a square or two in the morning with a cup of tea and some nuts) I had to move up or I started to devour too much of the 70 😆 Lindt is more coconutty.

my tastes have definitely changed when I really made a concerted effort to cut out lots of sweet things. I no longer fancy cakes and biscuits etc at all but do crave nuts and v dark chocolate.

be aware that the week or so nearing your period is when blood sugar is less stable so cravings go up. consuming snack things that help with that that are low GI , eg, nuts, Parmesan cheese or maybe an oatcake with peanut butter on, anything proteiny too, helps a lot.

—I dip it in the tea to make it more melty—

Halo vanilla with a few white chocolate chips throw in?

im on a very strict diet (upcoming wedding where i am matron of honour) and everything is fine apart from the massive cravings
