Weight loss plateau - staying motivated!

Since mid January, I've lost a stone and have about a stone and a half to go, to be where I'd like to be. I've been focusing on a calorie deficit (1600-1800), upping my protein and getting at least 10k steps in.

For the last three weeks, the scales have been at a stand still. I'm trying to stay motivated, after all it's a life style change not a quick fix. But it's very frustrating.

Any shared experiences of feeling stuck or words of wisdom?

I know I need to start doing weights and probably focusing on more activity...

I have lost nearly four stone. And every other month the scale would stay the same. Even bump up a bit. I knew I hadn’t eaten anything I shouldn’t have. And I weighed all my foods out. But nothing changed. And then one day whoooooosh. I lost three pounds in a week and it re started again.

I also have found that if I drink anything other then water or tea , so squash or a fizzy drink but body holds it as water weight. Took me three months of not loosing anything / barely anything to realise what was stopping my weight from dropping. Came off quickly after that

Hi I've been in your place. Where my weight would stop falling. Only advice I have from my experience is. Keep going keep eating right. Don't give up, your going the right way. It will start falling at some point. And I know it can become very stressful when the weight stops falling.

You just have to keep going and try and think positive.
I've been trying to lose the same half a stone for nearly a year now to get to target!
I've struggled and yoyo dieted for years and it was getting me down but I realised I shouldn't be thinking in terms of what I haven't lost, instead concentrate on the fact that I've maintain what I have lost for nearly a year!😀

Plateau's aren't fun but at least you are maintaining any progress you made and tomorrow is another day.

Weight lifting restarted my loss after hitting a plateau. Brutal, but effective. I can see why people do it now, it's weirdly addictive.

Hi @TheBlueRobin , what foods and drinks do you eat?

Off to the gym tomorrow!

Trying to up my daily steps to 12k and been going to the gym twice a week doing resistance training and weights. I think I just had to admit that it's a slow process and be patient. Also trying to drink more water as I was definitely slacking there.

Small win was trying on a skirt I haven't worn for over a year and it zips up comfortably!

ive lost a lot of weight and always had these plateaus. Last year in lost 9kg 1.5 stone but Jan to April, no loss, May to July lost 4kg, August and September lost 6kg, October and November gained 1kg, December no loss. I ate the same through the year.
This year is already showing some loss and some plateaus but I’m down 6kg so I’ll take that.
Keep going and good luck
