Week one down many more to go

Started last Tuesday after countless failed attempts at starting and I am feeling very pleased after my first weigh in this morning.

I'm aware this will be water weight and not actual fat loss however it's definitely motivating to see the numbers going in the right direction.

I am doing the fast 800 and a 45 minute brisk walk every night which I will increase steadily as weight goes down and I improve my awful fitness.

I plan to continue updating this thread every Monday with my results to try and keep myself on track. I am also using MyFitnessPal and Happy scale which are great for recording calories and weight.

How often does everyone weigh their self? I don't want to become obsessed with numbers so I was going to do once a week but Happy Scale seems to want me to weigh daily.

Starting weight 15 st 7.8lbs
Current weight 15st 1.4lbs
Goal weight 10st

Would you mind if o jump on your thread? I'm only starting today, but not going to weigh until Thursday to give myself a few days to reset, lose a bit of that water weight. I suspect I will want to lose 1.5/2 stones. I'm going to try deal with them in half stone blocks! I lost and put back on the same stone twice last year, so I know I have to make some longer term changes!

Paradeapple · 13/01/2025 15:10

Yes of course @Restlessinthenorth the more the merrier.
Breaking down your weight loss into smaller goals is a good idea, I was very overwhelmed with how much I need to lose but Happy Scale has broken it down for me into 20 milestones which seems a lot more achievable.

I'll join too as also on Fast800, day 14 today. I've lost 3.6KG and finding the diet OK now I'm used to it. I find smaller lunches hard and end up going over on my calories by the time I've eaten dinner but eating loads of veggies and sticking to 800-950 every day, no drinking, very rarely snacking. I'm also getting out for an hour's walk everyday so step count is consistently over 10k by the time I get to bed. Really feeling positive for this, determined to hit my healthy BMI by mid March.
SW 88.7KG
CW 85.2KG
Initial GW 72KG, long term GW 65KG.

Would love to swap meal inspiration. I'm loving my breakfast which is 100g Greek yoghurt, about 35g frozen berries and a spoonful of hot porridge. Dinners are protein with veg. Lunches tend to be eggs but need some ideas for how to bulk them out without adding calories as there's only so much spinach and broccoli I can eat!

StealthyBMI · 16/01/2025 10:17

How are you both getting on @Paradeapple @Restlessinthenorth ??
Day 16 today, feeling good, weight still coming off. I am weighing daily but plan to drop to weekly at some point...but for now the little losses are helping with motivation.

Paradeapple · 16/01/2025 12:05

Day 10 for me, I'm finding things much easier this week and I'm no longer craving any sugary/fatty foods which is great.
I've had an upset stomach since yesterday so haven't eaten since and will probably have something very light this evening.
I have decided to start weighing daily as Happy Scale suggests but I'm only properly logging each Monday.

Weighed in this morning at 14st 12.6

I've had a good week so far but I'm hungry and really noticing the urgent eat when stressed at work. Gonna have my first official weigh in tomorrow so I will know where my starting point is. So bloody frustrated I let myself out on this bloody stone again!

Restlessinthenorth · 17/01/2025 08:35

So I've weighed in. 11.6 1/2. Not great but not quite as bad as I expected it might be! So the plan is essential 1.5 stones to shift. 3 half stone blocks! Hoping this time next week I'll be 2lb down

Restlessinthenorth · 17/01/2025 08:37

@StealthyBMI I may have a tip for your eggs. I hard boil mine, mash them and mix with low fat cottage cheese and some chopped dill pickle and red onions. Doesn't taste of cottage cheese at all, more like a creamy egg mayo. Adds volume, hardly any calories but heaps of protein. I had it on a protein bagel for lunch yesterday and it was so good!

StealthyBMI · 17/01/2025 09:07

Mmm that sounds good, I will give it a try!
Good luck with your goals. You can do it! I'm day 17 and have lost the equivalent of 16 packs of butter! Crazy. Last night had some homemade koftas from the freezer and couldn't work out the calories as I couldn't remember all the ingredients but after eating 2 and a big salad I was stuffed. I really have to eat a big portion of protein in the evening to give me energy the next day.

Paradeapple · 20/01/2025 23:03

Forgot to update with my weight this morning, weighed in at 14st 10.2
I don't think this week is going to be great as I am going for two meals out for birthdays however I'm going to try and stick to my calories and also not drink.

Well done @Paradeapple on your loss.
I had a wobble this last weekend as I was away with friends and it's impossible to eat a VLCD when you're constantly socialising, drinking and going to the pub for lunch. However I fasted from 4pm Sunday to midday yesterday and didn't feel any hunger pangs, and today am 0.2kg less than Friday's weigh in so not too bad. Unfortunately we're away again this weekend seeing other friends but only one night so I can adjust (skip?!) my meals before and after and eat all my calories in company! Currently 84.6KG so 4.1kg down since 1st January but honestly my scales are so dodgy, no matter how many times I move them to find the most level bit of floor, calibrate them etc, I can make my weight go up or down by nearly a kg when I stand on them. Naturally I just keep shifting around until I find the lowest possible number and record that! Either way am seeing a progression so that's what counts.
@Restlessinthenorth I tried your eggs yesterday, but with cream cheese rather than cottage as that's what I had, and it was very nice! Good to have a change from poached too, and now I've got a few spare hard boiled eggs in the fridge. Dinner was miso aubergine cooked in the air fryer with some kale and carrots, which is insanely low calories for a big flavour hit (and DH can just add rice to make his more substantial.) We did supplement with some prawn dim sum we had in the freezer left from Christmas but they were also low calories so managed to stick to my 800 goal, for once!

StealthyBMI · 23/01/2025 14:20

5kg down today since 1st Jan, scales jumped massively after a few days hovering around the same - I'll take it thank you! And I've 10cm off on my waist too.

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 24/01/2025 08:58

Can I join you all please? I have 17 pounds to lose!

Movement is my downfall at the moment.

Paradeapple · 24/01/2025 13:18

@Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth Yes of course

@StealthyBMI 10cm off your waist, that's fab well done!
I went out for a meal last night and didn't make the best choices in terms of meals and also ended up having a few cocktails too. I am going for another meal on Saturday so I need to try to make better choices.

I am still weighing daily and will continue to do so but I am only recording it each Monday on MyFitnessPal and Happy scale.

Today's weight is 14st 8.8 which means I am 1 pound away from my first stone! Still a long road ahead but very pleased with my results so far.

Hiya! I'd like to join you all.
started fast800 on Monday so day 5 for me. Going well so far after the first few days of hunger I'm feeling pretty good.
SW 101.5kg (16st)
Short term goal weight 78kg (12St)
Long term GW 65kg (10st)

Pancakeorcrepe · 24/01/2025 16:53

@StealthyBMI your goals are very similar to mine. Are you around 5.7 in height?

adistraction · 24/01/2025 21:01

@Wishiwasatailor Of course.
I started at 15st 7.8 and my goal weight is also 10 stone. I'm finding the fast800 quite easy now I'm stuck into it.
This is my first time using this particular diet plan and I can't quite believe I've lost almost a stone since 6th January.
Are you exercising along side? I'm hoping to up my walking distance soon but I'm still struggling towards the end of the 45 minutes I'm currently doing!

StealthyBMI · 25/01/2025 03:49

Pancakeorcrepe · 24/01/2025 16:53

Yes 5'7. Pretty much been a 14 most my adult life but slipped into 16 the last year and would really like to get back to 14 or even a 12. I'm not sure I'd look like me in anything smaller.
Out for lunch today for my DSis bday and chose the steak salad but also ended up with a glass of wine and slice of cake after.... But not too bad..just need to stay motivated this weekend.
The 10cm off my waist is great, if I hold the tape measure at my original measurement (100cm) it seems so vast.
My hunger levels have definitely declined as my stomach has shrunk, I'm struggling to eat anything over a small portion and don't have any evening cravings anymore which is an amazing change after being a lifelong sofa snacker. One bite of chocolate cake today though and I was ready to devour the whole thing!! It definitely gets easier though, I'm into week 4 and so much easier than week 1. Good luck to everyone just getting going!

StealthyBMI · 27/01/2025 14:01

Question for you all. I've been really good generally but did have a day off on Saturday as we were staying with friends who plied us with calorific food and cocktails (I try to be good but I don't want to be a dieting kill joy or rude!) Did a quick calculate on Nutracheck and I think I probably ate and drank in the region of 2500 calories. However I did walk nearly 20,000 steps on Saturday which Nutracheck credits as a little over 700 calories burnt. Obviously off-plan but as a one off (and Sunday was better, still not perfect but ended on just over 1000 calories despite a breakfast involving fried eggs, toast and cheese.) However my weight this morning has rocketed back up nearly a kilo since Friday! Is this likely to be partly water weight? I also started my period Sat morning so expecting to be up slightly anyway... My BMR is 1639 anyway not taking into account the 20,000 steps so I really hope this is just a temporary gain. It's really annoying to be so strict all week, up pre-dawn every day to walk for an hour, stick to 800ish calories a day and end up putting so much back on in one weekend. Hopefully it's all down to normal fluctuations anyway and I'll be back on track in a day or two. I know it's a long game and you've got to allow yourself to live a little but I need some encouraging words today. Especially as we are away again in 2 weeks time so likely to see the same again!

I hope everyone else had a good weekend.
