Hi, I'm looking for ways to boost my metabolism. I can't afford to join a gym right now. Am I looking for a magic wand?

Gain muscle.

You don't need a gym. Do body weight exercises - burpees, planks, press ups, sit ups, squats, lunges etc

You could invest in some weights to use at home too. There a plenty of free video work outs on you tube/ fit on etc

Weight training. It's the only way that you can eat and not focus on such little calories. Always weirds me out that people think you have to eat a shit amount of calories and it's a good thing.

Everyone's metabolic rate is pretty much the same (unless they've got a health condition such as thyroid issues). If what you want is to burn more calories day to day, adding more muscle to your body will have that effect, but while it's not impossible to do so without a gym it is harder. To build muscle you need to be using progressively heavier weight to make the exercise more difficult, and that's not easy to do with bodyweight training, especially for legs, which are our biggest muscles and where we're most likely to be able to increase them.
Burpees, bodyweight squats and sit ups will burn calories while you do them as cardio, they won't add any noticeable muscle.

Is a gym really off the table? The chain gyms can be £20 a month and a lot have starting offers at the moment.
