Preparing for 2025 glow up!

Hope this is a suitable place to post this..do move it if not.
I know we've not even had our indulgent christmas and new year yet.. but I'm so looking forward to a 2025 reset!
My main goal (as usual,) will be to lose a bit of weight.
But, beyond that, I really want to take control of making myself feel good.
Weight loss is part of it for me..
But I also just want to have better nutrition and develop some better habits for skincare and fashion etc
I'd also like to do some small things that will improve how I feel overall.. read more, make more time for hobbies, cut back on alcohol and processed crap, meditate/pray more, clear out the house a bit, be better financially...
Loads of things to focus on really.
For now, I'm not going to get worried about the weight loss.. that can wait until new year, but I am going to really increase my water and fruit/veg intake. I go through phases where I'm brilliant at this- and I really do notice it makes me feel better- I think it's all about developing habits and keeping them!
Anybody feel like joinging me on my quest to be feeling fab next year?

Hello! Can I join please? I def need to lose some weight and want to try and have a bit of a glow-up in general as my diet and lifestyle are crap. My aims:

  • lose a stone and a half; I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and it’s starting to impact my health. If I can get down to 9st I’ll be really pleased.
  • do some kind of movement for 30 mins every day - walking, Pilates or a band/gym workout.
  • drink a lot more water, eat a lot more fruit and veg and cut out the sugar!
  • alternate a facial and a cut and colour every other month.
  • do a face mask, a hair mask and manicure every week.

Good luck everyone!

FiveShelties · 29/12/2024 21:37

Another joiner here. Just got weighed and have gained around 5 pounds in the last two weeks. If I wait until the first Monday in January I may have another 5 pounds to go with them!

Aims:
More Water
Much less wine
Stop stupid eating in the evening
Do Nails
Have eyelid surgery

😁

Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 29/12/2024 22:01

Starting on 1st here. Kids not back to school until the 6th which is when I'll have more time on my hands but feel if I wait until then January will be half over!
One of my goals is 10,000 steps a day. Badly need new runners though. Currently have a pair of nikes that are about to fall apart. Would like something really good and supportive as I have bulging discs in my back. Budget up to about €100(about £83). Any recommendations?

NerrSnerr · 30/12/2024 11:04

Hi. I'm joining too, starting on the 1st.

My main goal is to lose weight- I have our first big family holiday in August and don't want thighs rubbing together!! I have about 3.5 stone to lose but anything over 2 stone I'll be happy with.

I need to eat better and cook more meals from scratch and get into exercise again. I love running when I do it- just need the motivation to get myself out the door.

I also have goals of regular reading as it really helps my mental health and to listen to 400 albums this year (inspired by the thread where a poster wants to listen to 1000- I won't do that but thought it was a brilliant idea!!)

@Confused228 a great time of year to make vegetable soup with any leftover veg in your fridge? I am making a bit of an assumption here that you had veg over Christmas.

I am making mine today, and you can make with any combination of the following:

potatoes
sweet potatoes
garlic
onions
leeks
green beans
broccoli
celery
peppers
chilli
carrots
frozen peas
any herbs
other random veg

Just chop it up small and toss it into the biggest saucepan you have. I use an ancient Ainsley Harriet stockpot. If I am feeling cheffy, I will fry off the onions in butter or olive oil first, or add a slug of white wine. Generally though, I just boil it all up in water then add some stock cubes (any will do) until it tastes how you want it to.

Mine looks more like a vegetable stew than a soup, but it keeps in the fridge for a few days and it just feels so WHOLESOME!!

Sounds delicious. I'm a soup-a-holic! Unfortunately I'm also a crusty bread and loads of butter aholic too!
My soup maker is one of the best things I've ever bought for the kitchen. I love it.

God I weighed myself ☹️😳🐳

Theworldisfullofgs · 31/12/2024 15:31

I'm starting tomorrow and not even thinking about it until then.

Hawkerslife · 31/12/2024 15:37

I joined the gym yesterday and so hope to join you all. I do a fair bit of exercise but not currently enough strength training so my priority is that in the new year and upping my protein. I'm also running the Brighton Marathon in April so that will keep me spurred on.

I'm having a Chinese tonight so will enjoy that before I 'officially' start on the Glow up tomorrow!!

2025willbemytime · 31/12/2024 15:39

I've decided I'm not weighing myself until all the Christmas food has gone. I'm running every other day and walking the dog for over an hour at least once a day, mostly twice, and not stressing too much. Stress stops weight loss..

CrawlingFromShitshowToAfterglow · 31/12/2024 21:16

Hi. This sounds great! Can I join from tomorrow? I need to lose about 10 kg and have been struggling with my chocolate addiction. I'm going to have to go cold turkey from tomorrow as I can't have chocolate in small doses without it turning into a huge binge. Will start going to the gym from next week once the children are back at school.

FiveShelties · 01/01/2025 01:30

Weighed in at 10st 4.2lbs. I am sure I have lost the same five pounds at least 10 times. So annoying 🙄

Achangeisnow · 01/01/2025 02:04

I'd love a Glow Up too...

Im 50 single with kids, one of them high needs ..... I'm never prioritising myself .... but will carve out time for this glow up in 2025!

Thanks for the thread & post guys ..... I'm with you... low spend for me (as much as I would do Botox & facials etc ... they are not achievable)

So any good home remedies I'm all ears!

Like other posters I should start on weight/ water intake too.

NerrSnerr · 01/01/2025 09:49

My new healthy lifestyle starts today. Just weighed myself and weigh 12at5. Have exercised the last 2 days so having a rest day today.

Going to do some batch cooking of healthy meals today and probably take the children swimming.

Webbb · 01/01/2025 10:02

Here we go. My resolution for this year is not to drink fizzy drinks, unless out for a meal. Will be tough for me but I'm switching to squash (sugar free!)

juggleit · 01/01/2025 10:19

I'd love to join too!
In desperate need to feel better with more energy. I would love to lose some weight 1.5 stone by the end of the Year.
My plan is:
Count calories combined with 16/8 fast daily.
Walk daily 10,000 steps and add some hill walks.
Drink more water less wine! 😆
Squeeze some Yoga in as feel so stiff in the hips.
Its now or never and want to try and become fit and positive for 2025!
I will start tomorrow as feel a carb day coming on as such a late night which was unplanned but fun!! 🤣❤️

God I weighed myself ☹️😳🐳

My batteries died in my scales - am putting off replacing them!!

MadameBeauregarde · 01/01/2025 10:30

I’m taking the leftover chocolate and biscuits into the office tomorrow.

Borrowed friends dog for early walk and had weetabix for breakfast.

Did face mask before bed last night, feeling 😇

Oh you've kicked off your 2025 glow up marvellously!

As many of us on here are wanting to lose a bit of weight as part of the glow up, what weight loss plan do you follow, or just do general 'healthier choices.' I've previously had brilliant success with weight loss resources so I'm inclined to use it again- BUT, I'm also trying not to spend money wgich makes me want to do it without using it - as lets face it, we know what to eat and what not to eat. I do tend to be more successfully on a tracking type plan mind you.

You may get some eye rolls dumping choc on your colleagues 😆

MadameBeauregarde · 01/01/2025 12:13

Don’t worry @juggleit I have thought it through. I always get in first so I will deny it was me 🤣

MadameBeauregarde · 01/01/2025 12:24

@snowlady4 yes, I lost two stone using Ozempic, but have put it back on.

I really don’t want to spend that kind of money again but if I can’t lose using non medical methods, I might consider it again.

I'm doing 16:8 and good old fashioned calorie counting, I've got a lot of weight to lose so I'm starting with keeping the calories around 1800 every day with Saturday being my weigh in first thing in the morning and I can be a little less strict that day with calories. 10,000 or more steps a day plus I'm going to add in some jogging on my treadmill. It's worked before so I know I can do it but I end up letting things slide .

Hawkerslife · 01/01/2025 13:15

I ran 6km this morning as part of the Runna marathon plan. I'm going to re-paint my nails later whilst watching the first Traitors episode.

Happy first Glow Up day😌

Hi, can I join please? I'm loving the positivity on this thread!

33YO, I'm fairly tall but I'm 13st 9 which is the heaviest I have ever been. Got a 3YO and ballooned during pregnancy (had to be on steroids for some of it, so piled on the pounds) but now they are still piling on. Tried slimming world with no success (had lots of success on it years ago, but I was younger and 3 stone lighter then!). I find it takes up too much time and I'm in my final year of study atm so time really isn't abundant. Going to just cutting back, being sensible and upping my exercise to daily. I'm expecting this to take longer than being on a plan would take, but I'm hoping it'll be more sustainable and I'll actually do it. Also going to try dry jan.

Day 1 is not going well on the activity front atm, but planning on taking DS for a walk this afternoon.

Good luck to us all!
