Hope this is a suitable place to post this..do move it if not.
I know we've not even had our indulgent christmas and new year yet.. but I'm so looking forward to a 2025 reset!
My main goal (as usual,) will be to lose a bit of weight.
But, beyond that, I really want to take control of making myself feel good.
Weight loss is part of it for me..
But I also just want to have better nutrition and develop some better habits for skincare and fashion etc
I'd also like to do some small things that will improve how I feel overall.. read more, make more time for hobbies, cut back on alcohol and processed crap, meditate/pray more, clear out the house a bit, be better financially...
Loads of things to focus on really.
For now, I'm not going to get worried about the weight loss.. that can wait until new year, but I am going to really increase my water and fruit/veg intake. I go through phases where I'm brilliant at this- and I really do notice it makes me feel better- I think it's all about developing habits and keeping them!
Anybody feel like joinging me on my quest to be feeling fab next year?

I definitely think upping my steps has helped me @gettinghealthy I aim for 11000 a day now, so usually a 35 minute walk first thing then just normal daily activities.
Not long now til the end of your course 🙌 be kind to yourself, you're doing a fab job.

I had another comment yesterday about how well I'm looking and that they can tell I've been working out as my arms are getting toned, so that's really nice.
I'd say it's about 8 weeks in since people started commenting / noticing my body changes. My clothes are fitting differently now. I'm 1lb off my first stone loss, so halfway to my goal 🙏

I'm most proud that my body fat is 30.7% today! Just before Christmas it was 37.4% I'm so pleased with that.

Sorry to hear about your injury @NigelHarmansNewWife but I'm pleased to hear that you have some helpful strategies in place.

Sorry you've been poorly @loveyouradvice hope you're feeling better soon. That's great news about the trousers! Well done.

loveyouradvice · 06/04/2025 19:39

Congrats @NigelHarmansNewWife This all sounds very promising!

I'm celebrating starting 10mins of Tai Chi a day - it's now my fourth day.

And dancing more - a weekly class and Daytime discos three Saturdays in a row! Both feel fab for my health and wellbeing

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/04/2025 22:29

Where have you been daytime disco-ing? I've been rehearsing all weekend for a hobby and am absolutely shattered. On my feet most of the time. No down time from work so this coming week will likely be tough. At least the weather's supposed to be good.

loveyouradvice · 08/04/2025 08:35

In London - there seem to be a fair number. Koko was brilliant - they only do twice a year though....

gettinghealthy · 05/05/2025 10:41

Hello! I'm back from the land of studies!

So I braved the scales and I have put back on the 6lbs I lost in January, which is not unexpected and tbh I am just grateful it isn't more after months of sitting at my desk and not eating particularly healthy.

How is everyone doing? I'm ready and excited to commit to this now!

VenusStarr · 09/05/2025 13:36

Hi @gettinghealthy good to hear from you, hope your studies went well? Are you following a plan?

I'm still going, have lost a stone now (since Christmas) so not exactly fast but aiming for another half stone as my next milestone. I've lost my appetite recently though, but sticking with my exercise routine.

How's everyone getting on?

VenusStarr · 30/05/2025 12:56

Just checking in, are people still glowing? I can't believe it's June next week! I am 5.5lbs off my next target. It's slow progress, but progress all the same. I'm struggling a bit with motivation, but still doing my walks and workouts. I'm not strict with food but tracking and staying under 1700 calories.
I can definitely see progress in my legs, arms and upper waist. I was late for work yesterday as what I'd planned to wear was too big and a couple of tops I've not worn for a while were too baggy and looked silly. So that's a positive... new wardrobe incoming! My dh will be thrilled 🤣

Hope everyone is doing well x

Daffodilpup · 30/05/2025 14:26

Not lost a lot of weight - about 4lbs but took me a while to get started but think I’ve lost an inch off my stomach so that’s good. Think my skin is looking better now I’m drinking more water too. Otherwise, not a lot of difference.

Bunnie007 · 30/05/2025 14:58

I’ve just found this thread. Very late to the party but after faffing about for the first half of the year and now being on holiday and feeling uncomfortable with my weight etc I’m ready for a big glow up for the rest of 2025. I’m inspired by you all and looking forward to joining the glowing!
My goals-
-lose 1 and half to 2 stone (calorie counting)
-exercise daily- waking, yoga, Pilates, swimming, light weights
-cut out most alcohol, sugary drinks, sweet treats etc and have as ‘treat’ once or twice a week not daily!
-eat more fruit and veg
-drink 2l a day water
-start using skin and me
-get off phone and get to sleep earlier
-meditation app
-vitamins daily
-red light and/or face mask few times a week
-podcasts while walking
-continue to purge wardrobe and think before I buy!
-lvl lashes
-regular eyebrow appointments
-look after nails

Looks like a lot but all stuff I have managed when in good routines!

gettinghealthy · 31/05/2025 08:13

Hello all, and welcome @Bunnie007!

not doing too well if I'm totally honest. I thought as soon as my course finished I'd be on it but there always seems to be something getting in the way - first it was my mum staying, then DH was away most of the week a couple of weeks in a row so I couldn't get to the pool (I find the pool makes a massive difference for me) then a friend was saying and here we are, a month after my course has finished with no progress. We are away next week for a couple of nights and when we get back that really does have to be it now. I'm absolutely fed up of hating how I look.

I'm currently out on a walk. I'm not a morning person but I'm finding now is the best time to go, as it doesn't eat into childcare time which I need for work (weekdays but trying to keep the habit) and means it just gets done.

I've also downloaded a couple of useful apps which I thought I should mention - one called Habit which is basically what it says on the tin. But it's really user friendly and you can set daily tasks, weekly, on set days, x days a week etc. I'm finding it good to help motivate me. Also, and this one might be of interest to you @Bunnie007- called AppBlock. I block all social media between 10am and 5pm, and again later in the evening. You can select what apps you want to block in any time period that suits you, so no more doom scrolling. It's actually scary how much the hours add up (the app shows you this!) and I'm actually feeling a bit calmer in general since doing this.

both these apps are chargeable but well worth it!

@VenusStarryou sound like you're doing amazingly! An inspiration for sure x

Bunnie007 · 31/05/2025 14:03

Thank you so much. Please don’t be hard on yourself sounds like you’ve been very busy. Small changes will slowly add up. I’ve ordered a cheap running machine for home so I can get my steps in every day regardless of what else is going on. Prefer to be outside but not always possible if husband is away etc. I think this will help with consistency which is a priority for me. If I slip for a few days I just lose all flow! Will look at both those apps. Yes scrolling time is a problem for me and time I need to do more productive things like prep a healthy lunch/exercise so it has to go! I’m just reading Atomic Habits which I think will help me.

gettinghealthy · 31/05/2025 17:07

@Bunnie007do you mind me asking how much your machine was? Is it one of those ones which stores away under the sofa? I would love to get one of those! I think I'll be ok without during the summer but when winter comes I'm definitely going to have to invest. I'm way up in NE Scotland so there's often weeks at a time in the winter where the pavements aren't safe for walking.

On a non-weight related thing, I had my hair cut today which was nice! Spent the whole time thinking how horribly round my face had become though 🙈

Bunnie007 · 31/05/2025 21:44

It was just under £200 but bought on Amazon and paying at £18.00 a month. It does fold but I’m not sure how small. I feel the same at the hairdressers- too long looking at myself!!! Hope you like your new hair cut : )

VenusStarr · 29/06/2025 19:38

How's everyone getting on? I'm still going. I'm 3lbs off my next milestone / target weight. I'd ideally like to get another 10lbs off, but I'm happy with what I've achieved so far. I am 19lbs down from my start weight now :)

I managed to get into some size small shorts today! Was really chuffed.

I've had a weekend to myself, I've done my first derma roll, curled and tinted my lashes and eyebrows today. I may paint my nails with a new colour I bought today.

Be good to hear how others are getting on x

Journeyto180 · 30/06/2025 15:42

Hey all,

6 months too late, but this thread feels like what I need in order to sort myself out for the rest of 2025. I've not weighed myself, but very probably around 205-210lbs and I really cant afford to be this weight or this un-put together for the rest of the year (or my life)

I turn 40 in Feb 2027 (which is a while away) - but I know for a fact that If I don't get into the habits now and get my weight in check soon, I'll be very unhappy for my 40th and that scares me!

But weight aside, I feel like I've lost my spark! I could go into a long epistle about this, but wont bore you just yet.

Starting today, I've set myself a very tough (2lbs a week for 10 weeks) so my list looks something like the below:

💙Lose 2lbs a week for next 10 weeks, then 0.5-1lb till I get to 180 or below (gasp)
💙Walk 60mins daily and listen to music that makes me happy or a podcast
💙Attempt a 5k every Saturday or Sunday
💙Keep bread to an absolute minimum (Bread is my biggest prob)
💙Get ready everyday! Everyday will look different but making an effort daily regardless
💙Keep on top of my nails, hair & skin care. Staying ready so I don't have to get ready
💙Drink water! 1l is a win for me

I'm sure there is more to this list, but this will is a first stab at feeling better about myself al together.

VenusStarr · 30/06/2025 19:16

Welcome @Journeyto180 sounds like a good plan. Are you following any particular plan for weight loss? I'm on 1500 calories, balancing my macros. I walk 12000 steps a day and lift weights 3x a week with a bit of cardio (stairmaster, cross trainer or rowing machine) plus a zumba class.

Journeyto180 · 01/07/2025 09:23

Thanks @VenusStarr

I'm going as low carb as I can. No bread/rice/pasta etc and minimal potatoes Aiming to walk at least 60mins everyday.
I'll do a 5k wog on the weekends

I actually really love weight lifting, but will ease myself back into it with kettlebells and dumbbells initially. Might have to ask chatgpt for a plan.

Calorie/macro counting has always been something I couldn't do, but if I want change, I have to do things that I don't want to.

Any tips for balancing macros? What does a typical day of food look like for you?

Also, I got "ready" today!
Wearing a yellow flowy dress. A bit snug in some places, but cant wait to see what it feels like even in a few weeks.

I'll probably find a baseline outfit that I'll try on weekly to see my progress!

Journeyto180 · 02/07/2025 17:24

Hi all,

An early midweek check in.

⭐Weight down since Mon, but the weekend is the true test 😂
⭐Walk/Steps: Mon 10567, Tues:15725, So far today 14834
❌Will do a 5k on Sat/Sun
⭐Not had a single bit of bread, although have been very tempted
⭐Got 'ready' every day, today I wore gym clothes on the school run, but still made sure to look put together
⭐Did a face scrub/mask yesterday. Hair & nails still good, although a nail appointment needs to be booked for next week
⭐Been drinking more than 1l, but the heat has def helped!

I do need to get better with taking vitamins, so will add that to my list! Does anyone else take vitamins regularly? What do you take? Any recommendations?

How's everyone else getting on this week?

VenusStarr · 25/07/2025 09:29

Morning all 🌞 I've no idea where the time goes, how is it nearly the end of July?!

All good here, this morning's weigh in shows I'm finally in the next stone bracket 🙌 its been slow and steady, but I've not been this weight in about 6 years. But I'm the fittest and healthiest ove ever been.

I've been focusing more on skincare too, I use a derma roller and hyaluronic acid serum. And I've had some comments with people noticing my skin. I've also been using the Dove tan builder and that helps me feel a bit glowy.

Im going to a wedding in 3 weeks and feeling confident.

I have started a masters course recently and I'm so glad I've got my gym and walking routine, as its full on (its part of work, but juggling the 2 will be a challenge).

@Journeyto180 how are you getting on? I take magnesium and that helps my sleep is think. I should take vitamin D and omega 3 but I'm a bit lax with them. I used to take loads when I was doing ivf and I think I've got an aversion to them now!

How's everyone else getting on? X
