If you are on Ozempic or similar pls may I ask how many calories you tend to eat?

Just that. Thanks for answering (if you do).

Plenty of people on Mounjaro count calories but I don't. I just eat a lot less than I used to, don't eat chocolate or cake and never touch alcohol or snacks. It's no effort, I just don't want those things now. It's been a miracle for me.

I wouldn't be looking at Ozempic - if you want to use it, use Mounjaro.

The first couple of days after injecting, 800 to 900 cals. Later in the week around 1400 to 1600 ish. The day my injection is due I have a near-normal appetite and would eat more if I didn't consciously manage my calories.

The thing for me is I am getting married in June. And I have so much motivation right now that surprisingly I am able to stick to a low calorie diet just out of fear of hating myself on my wedding day. I’m tempted to go on medication if it meant I arrived at my goal sooner. My cravings and food hyper fixation is quite intense that’s the only thing, but like I said I have the fear of God helping me lose weight right now.

I signed up for my fitness pal and they allocated 1200 a day to aim for. Sometimes I go over by a bit and sometimes I eat less but I’m not being super strict about it. Just trying to make better food choices.
Im on week 5 of Mounjaro and have gone from 104kg to 95.5kg

Sorry, week 6

Thanks for the numbers.

I am averaging around 900 calories right now. Week 7. I know it’s not sustainable long term but it’s helping get me get closer to a number on the scale that isn’t scary and overwhelming

How much weight do you have to lose? I have been taking it since the start of June. I've lost 3 stone 2 lbs and want to lose another 1.5 stone. The beauty of Mounjaro is I know I will do it. It's been relatively painless and tbh I never really think about it now. I just don't want to eat as much!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I have 40 pounds to go. I do fear that something will disrupt the weight loss - story of my life. But money is tight due to buying a house and having a wedding in the same year. Technically I could afford to go on Moujano but I’d rather spend the money on the new house.

I understand the issue with money, but honestly, if someone had said to me last May "Would you rather have £1,000 or lose 3.75 stone before Christmas?" I know which choice I would have made.

"I’m tempted to go on medication if it meant I arrived at my goal sooner."

@Yourpy This is a common misconception. The injections do not speed up weight loss.

They do however quiet the compulsion and food noise, slow the transit of food through the gut and make you feel fuller, longer. This enables you to be consistent in eating a lower number of calories. It is the consistency of being able to stick to a low calorie diet which causes the weight loss. You still need to be in calorie deficit, you still need to work at it.

I don't generally count calories and just eat what I feel.Whenever I try to add it up it's pretty consistently 1100 to 1200.I find when I eat less I lose fast, then hit a very stubborn plateau.
Similarly a 'bad day' once in a whole seems to restart weight loss

MyPlumZebra · 25/11/2024 12:37

i have never counted calories either, i think the food noise disappearing and eating else helps me, i think i would get fixated on numbers so just try and eat as healthy as possible and limit treats if needed!!

BearOnABlanket · 25/11/2024 12:43

The beauty of Mounjaro is I don't have to count calories - my body tells me when it's hungry and when it's full (for the first time in my life).

So I'm losing at a steady just under a kilo per week, which suggests I'm under-eating by about 1000cals a day, so I must be eating about 1200ish cals a day (all other things being equal/assuming my watch estimates my burn rate etc.)

Seems about right - I generally have a couple of snacks and a meal each day (which meal depends on how I'm feeling/what commitments I have)

OP did you reach your goal for your wedding?
