Do all the Cambridge diet drinks taste disgusting????

Started the cambridge diet this morning, trying to get a bit of weight off for my wedding.
I have only had one drink so far and if they all taste that bad I can see how the diet works you don't want to rush to the next meal cause you are still feeling sick from the first one.

I actually cannot believe I am doing this diet cause I just think it is madness on so many levels but hey ho the things we do, but I know I am going to really struggle if they are all horrid. If I am not eating I at least want to enjoy the little that is going into my stomach.

Oh No Alinali you must feel terrible, is there no other way do you have to take the antibiotics.
I'm sure you can just eat a little something with the tablets though just enough so they don't upset your stomach?????

chocolatespiders · 08/07/2008 17:38

if you stuck to very low carbs you may get away with it...

oggsfrog · 08/07/2008 18:30

Please don't take antibiotics without food/on an empty stomach.
I made that mistake two weeks into the CD and was so ill.I've never been so sick and felt dizzy, weak and absolutely awful.
Is it one tab three times a day with food?

I'd ask your doctor if taking it after your shake would be okay. It might be enough. If not stick to very low carb foods... eggs, meat, green veg in small quantities.

I took mine one tab on an empty stomach and never even made it to the second dose . Tbh I did mention to my Dr that I was on the CD, but I don't think he was doing joined up thinking that day.

oggsfrog · 08/07/2008 18:33

Dreamystarr, how much water are you drinking?

alinali · 08/07/2008 19:28

lol my doctor was shouting to me for the cd diet...he said im strong enough to do normal diet.. by the way..can the CD bring dizzyness after some time of doing it? people keep asking me if im sure for what im doing with my cd..on the other hand now im eating a small sandwich... NO COMMENT..i will just begin everything from the start point...thats all i can do..im sure my councel will kill me!
dreamstarr drink too much water with the cd..water or cd by their own do nothing..thats the secret in this diet..WATER ...

by the way are u all females here?

Dreamystarr · 08/07/2008 20:18

I'm trying to drink as much as I can but keep forgeting but usually my goal daily is 3 litres but sometimes can only manage 2litres, So I do try but have to say could do better.

Will drinking water make a difference to my weight loss then??

oggsfrog · 09/07/2008 09:45

Dreamystarr, the blue booklet explains all about why you need to drink an extra 2.25l (4 pints)a day.
This is in addition to your shakes and any tea/coffee etc.

Basically the water replaces liquid that you would normally be consuming in food; keeps you hydrated; dilutes the levels of minerals etc in the shakes/bars; reduces risk of constipation and helps flush through/eliminate the waste products resulting from the breakdown of fats whilst in ketosis.

So essentially, yes, you need to drink loads .

Hello, was on the other Cambridge thread but it's very quiet over there so thought i'd come and join in over here!
Have done 5 weeks on sole source so far and lost 1stone10lbs. Still finding it fairly easy to stick to and want to lose about 3.5 stone in total. Not sure whether I'll switch over to Slimming World or something in another month or so, will see how I feel. Only problems i'm having with CD are feeling very light headed a lot of the time and having dreadful PMT but no period!
How are the rest of you doing?

chocolatespiders · 10/07/2008 16:26

i am doing very badly had weigh in today 2lbs lost..... i need a fresh start

your loss is amazing... i wonder why you have found it so easy

evenings are my worst when i am alone and kids are in bed....

caykon · 10/07/2008 16:37

I really want to get started again on the cd, but i always get on better with a support network around me. Are there lots of regulars on here. If so I need some inspiration! How are you all doing? Any tips?

toomanyshoes · 10/07/2008 16:56

I think it is working well for me as i felt I had to stick to it for the first week as I had made such a big deal about doing it to DH! Because I stuck to it I lost 8lbs in week 1 and that spurred me on to stick to it on week 2. Has felt like that every week really, I think maybe I'll stop then get weighed and feel so pleased that another 4lbs or whatever has gone that I get another weeks supplies.
I have had moments when I've felt really bored or fed up with it but then I think about how i'll look and feel when I've lost it all and decide it's worth it.

Have found drinking tons of water helps me. Also, I have a bar for breakfast, 2 mousses in the day and a hot chocolate in the evening so am not drinking the shakes as cold drinks. Find they go too quick and I feel more deprived. I also freeze the chocolate tetras to make ice cream.

Don't get despondant and give up, I'm sure you can do it and 2lbs is still a loss! Would it help making a big bowl of jelly with the water flavourings and some gelatine and eating that in the evenings when the kids are in bed? Or maybe you could do SS+ where you have a small meal in the evening? think the losses are pretty similar to Sole Source

toomanyshoes · 10/07/2008 16:56

oops, i blame the lack of calories

oggsfrog · 10/07/2008 17:00

Hello
Toomanyshoes, it went very quiet over on the other thread didn't it?

Spiders 2lbs is good! I can manage evenings - my problem is when I'm cooking for dd and dh. I pick.

Caykon, the best advice I can give is to find your level. I couldn't manage SS for long, so most evenings I have a small low carb meal. Usually chicken/tuna and some veg. It has slowed the weight loss but I find it easier to stick to and manage.

Have struggled this last week and have been sneaking cheese, ham and other low carby things. Last night I even had chocolate and a couple of spoonfuls of chicken curry with lentils

Back on track and off to drink more water.

toomanyshoes · 12/07/2008 20:19

All quiet on here again! Been to the local school summer fete today, surrounded by food all day! The smell of the hot dog stall nearly finished me off but managed to stick to it

How is everyone else?

Chocolate Spiders/Caykon - how are you both doing?

Oggs, still on track and knocking back the water?

alinali · 13/07/2008 11:20

hello
well its been some days since i wrote here ...do i have to start everything from the begining as i didnt do my diet for a week? do i have to start the no carbs 3 days and sole prog from beging?or i just continue from the point i stoped?
pls someone reply and give me ur opinions

jayneway · 13/07/2008 22:42

Hello
I am on week two and struggling so all your words of inspiration help loads. I have just cheated by eating anoither Choc Tetra Brik..... but I hope with reading with everyone else being partg of a network will help

toomanyshoes · 14/07/2008 17:09

Alinali - I didn't do the 3 day prep thing when I started and was fine so id just jump back in if I was you. At least having done it before you know the hunger will wear off soon and you'll feel fine.

Jayneway - I don't think an extra tetra can be considered cheating, it's not like you had a fry up and a mars bar! How much do you want to lose? It seems to be very quiet on this thread but if you want to find out anything about CD I have found minimins.com really useful (they have a Cambridge diet forum). I don't post on there but always good for an inspirational read (some amazing before and after pics!) You might already know the site but just thought it was worth mentioning! Keep posting here too though!

Hope today going well for everyone

alinali · 15/07/2008 07:25

hello!!!!
im so happy i just lost another kg...i thought i would gain at least 3kg up if not all after a week off..but still one kg is still a loss.
jayneway- keep up! when u get to the chocolates and mouse u wil feel fine..its worth it trust me

by the way my counselor gave me white chocolates with fruits..she said it CD new chocs..THEY R ECXELENT!!! especially the strawberry one!

i got another 10kg to go..hopefully in 10 weeks i will reach my point..if im losing 1kg every week .. seriously i never thought i would say that but this diet is the best i think...

oggsfrog · 15/07/2008 15:42

Well done Ali
How much have you lost in total?

toomanyshoes · 15/07/2008 20:09

That's great Alinali, congratulations!

I had my weigh in today and only lost 2lbs which is a bit disappointing as have stuck to sole source 100%. It's my TOTM though so am hoping its just a bit of water retention and I'll get a good loss next week. Much harder to keep motivated when i know i could have lost the same ammount on Weight watchers or something and actually had some food!

caykon · 15/07/2008 20:37

I am biting the bullet and starting tommorrow. hopefully i will stick to it and the weight will drop off

alinali · 16/07/2008 07:25

helo!
my starting point was 76.3kg and now a month later im 71.2kg but i was not stuck to it 100% so im happy with my loss. i will keep it...
