November: Nice, easy four pounds

Not sure how to link to the September and October threads and couldn’t see a November one.

A few of us found the four pound goal much more manageable (although I failed badly due to a holiday in October!).

We all had different ways to reach our goal and different end goals.

Great losses well done @Dolliesdisasterousdayout and @PoliteEagle!!

I’m exactly the same weight - and I’ve been so good this week! Haven’t had any snacks and been averaging 1200 calories per day. I’m still hoping for a loss by Sunday.

I am in 1300 calories per day with at least 80-100 g of protein per day.
If no loss, dont get frustrated as it also depends on what day of the month it is. On some days we tend to hold lots of water and weight remains the same but then this water is gone and you see a big drop on a scale.

Swearwolf · 10/11/2024 09:42

My weight is not going down at all! I feel slimmer but I think it's in my head. I wonder whether I'm just building muscle, but I'm never very good at telling how big I am - often get surprised by a photo of myself. My weight hasn't changed and neither has my waist measurement. I'm trying, but it's really disheartening. I am going to keep going and keep exercising and hope that it will eventually drop.

Champagnecharleyismyname · 10/11/2024 12:13

I lost 1.5lbs so pleased with that. I've weighed every day and used an app to give an average. I used to get derailed if I weighed once a week and didn't see a loss, seeing the ups and downs of my weight through the week has helped.

I've tried to stay around 1250 calories a day. I'm going to focus on fibre this week and pick a nutrition focus each week.

I'm focusing more on health than on the end goal.

I know I’m being impatient! Been out for brunch this weekend and had a few sweet treats too, but I did run 10k this morning! And I’ve made some pumpkin soup for healthy lunches this week. I’ve also lost half a pound 😀

Pumpkin soup sounds lovely. How many calories per portion? Do you have a recipe by any chance?

GrannyClanger · 11/11/2024 10:07

@PoliteEagle I used this recipe: https://www.recipetineats.com/thai-coconut-pumpkin-soup/ and according to myfitnesspal it’s coming out at 177 cals per portion (8 servings)

ETA: forgot I also added 150g of red lentils to thicken it up a bit, which makes it 195 cals!

Thai Coconut Pumpkin Soup

Thai Coconut Pumpkin Soup -think, classic pumpkin soup with Thai Red Curry vibes. Quick and easy, and a little bit exotic!

I’ve lost 1lb although my weight fluctuates a lot so I can’t tell if it’s “real” loss until there’s a longer downwards trend. But I’ve had smaller lunches and just an apple for after dinner snack every day instead of crisps and cheese… baby steps!

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 14/11/2024 21:50

I’ve been away so just catching up but you are all doing amazingly!

I have a feeling that my weigh in tomorrow might reflect my living out of a suitcase for the past week diet.

@Champagnecharleyismyname is that happy scale that you use?

OP posts:
Champagnecharleyismyname · 14/11/2024 22:05

@Dolliesdisasterousdayout it's a free app called my weight I think. I'm too tight to pay for happy scale but this one calculates an average weekly loss. I just picked the first free one.

Helps me to see the ups and downs and see that there is an average loss.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 15/11/2024 07:39

Thanks @Champagnecharleyismyname .

Average weight loss this week of 1.2lbs so happy with that. I've dropped the extra holiday pounds but I'm now at the weight I've been stuck at for a long time.

I'm focusing on more water this week and keeping my calories around 1270 which is apparently my weight loss calorie target.

PoliteEagle · 18/11/2024 23:23

After a good start, I am stuck in the same weight for over a week.. work parties definitely do not help. 3 more weeks of them.. I just cannot control myself with food and drinks when at party

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 19/11/2024 07:52

I’m also stuck at the same weight, not budging at all. My period is due any day and I currently feel like a potato.

@Champagnecharleyismyname I use herbal tea to increase my water intake at this time of year. I love water but not when it’s cold unless I’m working out.

OP posts:
GrannyClanger · 19/11/2024 09:16

I’ve been poorly with a stomach bug so my weight has been fluctuating up and down a lot! And I’ve not felt well enough to do any exercise either. Hoping next week will be back to routine.

This is always a tough time of year with parties, temptation and cold weather. We can do this!

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 19/11/2024 15:14

@GrannyClanger sorry that you have been unwell, hope you feel better soon. Flowers

I’m still stuck! I started the month on 124.5lb and got to 122lb by the 8th since then I’ve been backwards and forwards with the same two pounds!

What can I do?

I am also at the same weight... no movement for past two weeks. I blame alcohol and corporate parties. Have two more to go

GrannyClanger · 22/11/2024 13:10

I think I’m the same too! I’m going to blame the cold weather. Sometimes a change to routine can work, @Dolliesdisasterousdayout could you switch your IF hours somehow? Or try cutting out something like sugar/carbs for a week? I’ve still not managed any exercise for over a week now so hoping I can fit something in this weekend. Might do some fasting next week as well.

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 22/11/2024 14:01

Glad it’s not just me!

@PoliteEagle Its too cold to move 😂 I’ve been working out but struggling with my steps because it’s too cold.

I think it’s worth a go @GrannyClanger, I probably have been quite carby so will try that and will look at IF changes. It’s so disheartening! (Are you any better btw?)

OP posts:
GrannyClanger · 23/11/2024 13:18

@Dolliesdisasterousdayout I’m much better thank you! It’s been a weird week here, my son has been off school sick and then with the snow we also had a power cut and ended up decamping to my MILs! So I’m really hoping next week will be back to the usual routine. I’ve not been out for a run for 10 days so keen to go tomorrow but the weather is not looking the best. Ah well. Life gets in the way of our best intentions sometimes doesn’t it?

Champagnecharleyismyname · 24/11/2024 08:44

A 0.3lb average weight loss this week so disappointing. One night out and not keeping to my calorie allowance on a couple of days did it.

A refocus on calories this week. The Christmas nights out start next week though so will be more difficult. Last week of November so need a 1lb loss!

Dolliesdisasterousdayout · 26/11/2024 08:17

@GrannyClanger sounds like you have been busy!

@Champagnecharleyismyname still a loss! You can get that pound!
I think I’m going to have to go back to drastic measures if I want to get back into it.

OP posts:
GrannyClanger · 29/11/2024 12:54

Last couple of days! I’m just about holding onto a 3 pound loss, with some fluctuation. But that is exactly where I wanted to be heading into December so I’m pretty chuffed. Finally got out for a run yesterday after a 2 week break and will probably try for a 10k this weekend too. Hope everyone is doing ok!

PoliteEagle · 30/11/2024 11:52

Weighted today and surprisingly hit the goal of 4 pounds for this month despite all those office parties. Now onto the next month as I still have approx. 14 pounds to loose.
