Has anyone lost 4 - 5st and got loose skin?

I have 4 or 5 st to lose. I won't be skinny, but will look OK and not overweight if I lose 4st. I'm quite an athletic type when I'm not fat, and quite muscular. I'm also active (not as much as I could be but more day to day active rather than all out gym goer).

I've been worried about being left with loose skin. I'm 47. I managed not to get any stretch marks I'm pregnancy despite 2 massive babies.

I've lost 4 so far and have another six to go. No loose skin, I'm 55

Don’t let it put you off. I actually resisted losing weight for ages because I worried about it. For me I did keto and zero loose skin, lost 4 stone in six months aged 50

But I did at least one gym class every day

IWFH · 30/10/2024 11:10

I have lost over three stone since March - I do have some loose skin round my gut - but it still looks a hell of a lot better without the weight 😁. In my early 60s.

Allnewtometoo · 30/10/2024 11:10

Thank you both, and congratulations to both on your losses! Bloody well done!
I suppose I'm worried because I'm the heaviest I've ever been and my stomach is awful, hanging over my c sec scar 😭 it's just gross.

Oh well done to you too @IWFH

I'd be interested to know what methods you've all followed

I've done e everything under the ☀️ 🌞 but this time Ozempic and Fast 800

I've cut out 'bad' carbs completely. So nothing containing white flour, sugar, white rice or potatoes. I'm very strict with myself. I've reduced (not stopped) my wine intake and I am drinking much more water than previously and stopped drinking fruit juice (which I used to drink like water).
Found it surprisingly easy - and even in a restaurant you can almost always swap the carb element for a salad.

Allnewtometoo · 30/10/2024 11:39

Thanks, low carb works well for me. I need to kick myself up the backside and get on with it. Motivation/discipline are somewhat lacking

I can't do any injections due to other medical issues.

Yes. I lost 5 stone in my early 20s and have some loose skin. I did a calorie deficit and lost it over a year/did plenty of exercise but I still have it. A tiny bit on my bingo wings..tiny bit on my inner thighs..those parts don't bother me. My belly on the other hand..my saggy belly at the bottom is worse than my mums who's had a c section and suffers with that c section over hang that never goes no matter how much weight she loses. I wouldn't get surgery because that's petrifying to me. On the other hand, i way prefer having this loose skin than 5 stone of fat. I still look incredibly smaller and I find it easier to hide my loose skin now than all of that fat. I'm pregnant atm and gained about 2 stone but as soon as this baby's out I'll be back to losing weight..even if that means even more loose skin!

Ellsx6 · 30/10/2024 12:05

Not sure how much I'm allowed to post here..this was 5 stone down..I would've liked to lose another stone too. If you can't tell from the outline through my undies I have something my younger brother used to say was a 'bum belly'! Literally shaped like a bum with a massive dip in the middle. Very strange and the only time I really see someone with a similar body to me are mum's who have had 3 kids..I was in my early 20s here..no kids! Loose skin doesn't happen to everyone though and I'm way happier with loose skin than I am fat..it's easy to cover up and I don't have my belly out ever anyway

Well done on your loss. I suppose the appearance of this saggy belly fat has worried me. I think it'd be dreadful if I was aiming for a lower weight but I know I'd be happy with 4 or 5 st off.

Thankyou! I think it's about the elasticity in your skin that determines if it'll be tight when you lose weight so you'd never know until you lost it..it's very rare to have a body like mine just from 5stone loss usually 10 stone loss looks like mine. Hey ho we can't have it all ay! You'll also feel a lot healthier and energetic for losing weight too not just looking better x

Gall10 · 30/10/2024 13:37

4st loss in 2024…. I don’t eat anything that contains over 3% fat.

Allnewtometoo · 30/10/2024 14:27

That's amazing @Gall10

Have you found it fairly straight forward?

Ive lost 7 st so far and TBH Im nothing but loose skin! There really isnt an angle where something doesnt wrinkly or sag, esp my tummy and bingo wings.
I think if you have any particularly wobbly bits when overweight then they are more likely to become areas of loose skin.

Dont let it put you off though....the loose skin is a small price to pay for improved physical and mental health (not to mention the joy of sliding into a size 8!).😎

usernother · 31/10/2024 17:05

I've lost 3.5 stone. My upper arms are very saggy but that's about it.

olympicsrock · 31/10/2024 17:13

I’ve lost 3.5 stone over 6 months so far . I do have some looser skin at the tops of my thighs , bingo wings and the c section overhang is still there just smaller. Stomach definitely looser than before . But overall I look so much better at BMI 28 than 35. I’m 46 . I think my skin is actually tightening up a bit now. The weight loss was quite slow at 1-2 lb per week and I wanted to avoid the loose skin.

I think you will have some loose skin but it won’t be awful if you take the weight loss steady.

MayorOfHuyton · 31/10/2024 17:13

I lost nearly 5 stone and didn't get any loose skin. My arse didn't feel very good though, it went too scrawny, even in the bath I could feel a difference without my previous padding. After a few months, maybe a year, I noticed it wasn't as scrawny even though I hadn't put any weight back on, so I don't know if any fat there had readjusted.

66babe · 31/10/2024 18:07

I am 2.5lbs away from 4 stone weight loss
My arse feels a bit saggy and droopy and my belly looks a little bit crinkly but not too awful
No one sees me naked anyway so I'm not too fussed 😂
So worth it

Allnewtometoo · 01/11/2024 11:15

I think if I went diwn to 9 St I'd be very thin and saggy. It's def not my goal! 11.5 to 12.5 st will be fine for me and hopefully mean I don't get too saggy. Most people would think that's still overweight but I know I look good at 11.5 and fine at 12.5.
