Right Lets get going again with this.

Who is going to join in?

I have not done very well this week with just 21971. I had forgotten to wear my pedometer on Saturday or Sunday and most of Monday.

How does everyone want to do the results? Do you want to post them yourselves or email them to me at janreid2003 at yahoo dot co dot uk.

If you decide to email me please make sure that I have them by 10am monday and I will get them and post the results when I go to the Library on a monday morning.

I'll join you.

It will give me an incentive to get off my backside. I haven't managed to get above about 7,000 in a day yet (average is about 5,000 a day at the moment ) but it should be easier now that ds1 is back at school.

It will probably be easier for me just to post mine here, if that's okay?

JJ · 07/01/2005 13:43

Can I give a definite maybe and ask for a recommendation for an accurate pedometer?

Ah, what the hell.... I'm a definite maybe and somebody tell me which pedometer to buy. Please.

MadameButterfly · 07/01/2005 13:44

Not a problem CT, it was just a thought.

When we first started up the pedometer club we used to email our resluts to CP3 and I just wondered if anyone wanted to do that. The option is there is anyone decides to do it that way.

JJ, I have a spare pedometer I could send to you if you like. Email me your address if you would like it

Thanks MB! That'd be great. I've lost your email address, though, disorganised person that I am. Could you email me at jj at flubus dot com?

Now I'll be guilted into walking when possible. I have to take the boys to their schools on the bike, so miss out on those steps.

Look at me - haven't even started and I'm already justifying my low numbers. ARGH

Earlybird · 07/01/2005 13:59

I'll be ready to participate in about 10 days when I am back in my London routine. I haven't walked much over the Christmas break, and I've missed it.

coppertop · 07/01/2005 14:29

If everyone else prefers to e-mail results then that's fine with me too.

Tommy · 07/01/2005 15:05

I will! About time I started counting again. I've lent mine to a friend though for her to try so will get it back from her and join you all. DS1 starting nursery soon and I wil have to walk there and back twice a day - not very far but should all add up.

MadameButterfly · 07/01/2005 19:06

JJ, my email address is on the 1st post of the thread. Send me your address and I will post it out on Monday.

OMG, I need brain exercises, too.

Thanks -- will email you.

MadameButterfly · 08/01/2005 16:19

JJ, I have now got you email, so I will post it out on Monday.

Bit late for this week but keen to join so will start today. Any decisions on posting or e-mailing?

Good Housekeeping tested pedometers for this month's issue and have recommended 3 on page 59 (sneaky browse in WHS maybe?). Sure mine is still over so I'll have to work on increasing my weekly total by a certain percentage I think.

Good luck everyone!

MadameButterfly · 10/01/2005 10:21

I will leave it up to everyone to decide what they want to do, but I will start a new thread each monday.
The thread for results for Week 2 (w/e 14th Jan) will be started next monday (17th)

Forgot to put mine on on Saturday when I actually did loads of walking
Will sort it out and join you properly again soon!

Posey · 10/01/2005 19:07

Hi, is it too late to join in? Just looked back to see when the club started and what the "protocol" is and realise you've been going since last summer!
Must've overlooked you all.
Anyway I got a pedometer for Christmas and started using it properly when dd went back to school last week.

If its okay to join you, can someone tell me what to do next please

MadameButterfly · 11/01/2005 10:24

Hi Posey,

You are welcome to join us.

Count your steps from Saturday to friday and either email the results to the addess on the 1st post of this thread or post them on the new thread when it is started. If you decide to email them I need them by 10am Monday mornings.

JJ, I posted the pedometer off to you yesterday afternoon 1st class, so you should get it soon.

Great, thanks MadameButterfly. Am noting down daily totals in my diary, so with email them on the weekend.

Bozza · 12/01/2005 11:48

I've decided to join too. But this week will be a short week because I only started on Monday. Good luck everyone.

coppertop · 14/01/2005 19:00

I'll e-mail my results this weekend.

Donbean · 14/01/2005 19:25

Hi, can i ask how many steps is recomended in a day? (got 10,000 in my head, is this right?)
I started with mine a couple of days ago but dont wear it all the time, just when i go for my 1.7 mile stomp which averages 3,500 steps. Will this be of any benefit to my weight loss challenge do you think?

Tommy · 14/01/2005 19:31

Yes it is 10,000. I think it's about getting fit and not necessarily losing weight although if you do extra and eat heathily as well, then you will!

Donbean · 14/01/2005 19:46

Thanks, im at work on a double shift tomorow so im going to wear it out of curiosity to see how much i walk from 7.15am till 9.30pm!!! wish me good luck! Sorry, i meant to say id prefer to get fitter as well as slimmer!
