Wegovy to Mounjaro

swapping from wegovy to Mounjaro? I’ve been on Wegovy since the start of the year and have been at the max dose for a few months but my weight loss has very much plateaued. I’ve still got 3 stones to loose and am going to switch to Mounjaro to see if this shakes it up a bit. Has anyone done similar or swapped from wegovy to Mounjaro and found it better?

I switched 3 weeks ago so still on lowest dose. Only lost 2 pounds in that time

Honestly I’d take that!! I’ve been stuck at my current weight for weeks! Were you losing on Wegovy?

I switched 2 weeks ago, not losing yet, but I had to have a bit off wegovy then start on lowest dose of MJ so it will take a few months I think to start losing. I'm hoping by Christmas to see some progress

Nw22 · 26/09/2024 17:30

@Circularmadness i started in April and lost a lot in the first 3 months and then it slowed down a lot

StormingNorman · 26/09/2024 17:31

i Did a couple of weeks ago for the same reason. Not getting anything from the Mounjaro yet.

Circularmadness · 26/09/2024 18:48

Interesting to hear your experiences. I’m scared to stop the wegovy but it’s not really been doing much for me the past couple of months. I’m tempted by Mounjaro because it seems to be more effective and its slightly cheaper at the higher dose. Have any of you had side effects on Mounjaro? I had reflux with wegovy but that died down thankfully. I’m concerned that I get worse side effects on the Mounjaro.

I switched in June after losing 70lbs with ozempic over 15months.

I haven't had any side effects but my weight loss has slowed right down on 5mg, I've upped to 7.5mg this week and I'm hoping that kick starts me. I only have 7lbs left to lose now.

Wow well done with your weight loss and getting so close to your goal, that’s amazing! I feel that I need to refocus my weight loss as I’ve still got quite a way to go.

Hello! I know it's a bit of an old thread, just wondering how you guys were getting on? I've recently made the switch and I'm on my third week of MJ and not feeling any effect - still hungry and can easily eat a big meal.
I'm not sure whether to persevere or go back to Wegovy?

Hi, honestly I’m loving Mounjaro. It suppresses my appetite much more effectively Wegovy did. I had reflux and constipation on Wegovy which did eventually settle down but I just wasn’t losing weight - no negative side effects far on Mounjaro. ( I’m on 5mg currently)
Did you leave a gap in between Wegovy and Mounjaro? Were you losing on Wegovy? Remember you’d need to start again at the lower dose for Wegovy but if it was working for you it might be the route for you? Good luck

@Circularmadness ah I'm pleased your weight loss journey is going well. I was losing but had awful side effects. Was on Wegovy for 6 months and had about a 5 week break between Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Really not feeling any effect at all yet (but no side effects so that's great!) - I'll be going up a dose in a couple of weeks and hoping that will kick start something - not sure if I can handle ging back to WG so hoping it'll kick in at some point just wondered if it was unusual to have so little effect at the beginning.

DoloresDelEriba · 17/12/2024 06:45

I’m the same. Switched from Wegovy to Mounjaro and it’s not making me feel full until right at the end of a meal. I’m six weeks in and not losing. Still got food noise. Still got cravings. Not that impressed. No side effects. So that’s good. Have just ordered my third month - upped dose each month. If that doesn’t kick in I’m going back to Wegovy. On a side note. Wegovy delivery system ie pens are way better.

bubbletubble · 17/12/2024 07:30

@DoloresDelEriba ah sorry you're having the same trouble - that's exactly how I feel! My stomach was rumbling going into work yesterday morning, I was so hungry! And that was a day after taking my third dose of MJ - no effect at all!

SomeKindOfMeh · 05/07/2025 12:18

I’ve just (two hours ago!) started on Wegovy. I’m nearly 13 stone just want to lose 2 stone. Do you think it’ll work? I’m going to follow a WW/low carb/high protein diet too.

Just found this chat and hoping someone still might be here!

I am despairing the lack of losses on MJ, have stalled for several weeks now and just a little bobbing. Thinking of switching to Wegovy/ Ozempic. I have pens to use up first, am on a high dose of MJ and getting strong nausea and fatigue side effects (but no losses 😭). Have been on MJ 10 months

Hi, my weight loss has been very slow on both! Definitely I found MJ much better for weight loss that Wegovy so perhaps you will find your body prefers Wegovy. I have been reasonably ok in terms of side effects. I am almost at my absolute goal weight now but my weight loss has pretty much been glacial, I find it really useful to chart it because even if I stall in loss for weeks it does eventually drop and moves in the right direction. I would absolutely recommend an app where you can plot your weight. I think it’s easy to become discouraged when some people seem to drop the weight so rapidly but for me it’s not been like that- I think peri menopause/ menopause has had an impact. Its expensive to be on it for a longer period so it’s a bit gutting to not get the rapid losses that other seem to experience. However, I do think a slower pace is good from other perspectives and is probably healthier. Best of luck to you

It definitely helped, I’ve just accepted that it’s a slower ( more expensive!) pace for me! I’m happy that I’ve almost reached my goal albeit at a snails pace! It’s probably healthier anyway and definitely better for my skin! I take magnesium and ashwagana and I think that seems to help boost my weight loss. I think high cortisol and hormones mean my weight loss is slow ( so the magnesium helps with cortisol and helps weight loss)

I would highly recommend the nutrition Geeks ones, ( for quality and value) take in the evening as it can help to support sleep. When I remember to take them consistently, I notice it seems to give my weight a nudge down. The best of luck to you
