What should I eat before a workout? feeling lethargic

Been trying to lose weight for about 5/6 weeks. Not following any particular plan. Some fasting, cutting out crap, no alcohol and moving more.
This morning I took the dog on a 6mile hike (some steep hills & forestry tracks). I felt really lethargic and didn't enjoy it, even though we ended up walking 6 miles.

I've lost about 10lbs so far and want to lose another stone. What foods can I eat for energy before I go? I'm a vegetarian too by the way. Any tips would be great

Have a banana before you go

Make a smoothie with banana, oats, cacao, chia seeds and milk. You'll have loads of energy

Sorry for butting in but .... @theyoungishman when you say oats, are these the kind I would buy to make porridge with? And they don't need to be cooked? Just added 'raw'? I know this is probably a very stupid question 🤣

Thanks for replies. I've hit a plateau I think. So hard to keep going when not getting results. Had banana & yogurt yesterday & it felt a bit better

Banana.

Have you calculated your BMR and do you track macros? Makes the world of difference, having something before a workout will help energy levels in the short term, but eating a balance will keep you energised.

Yes just raw rolled oats. When you blend the smoothie they blend right in but taste great 😃👍

I think I have basically overdone it and have not been eating enough. I'm having two days at about 1500 calories then back to 1200 and trying to maintain it. Have just started tracking everything with Nutracheck app, so hoping I get back on track
