If you are in the 8 to 8st 13lb range how tall are you?

And are you naturally that weight or have you dieted or changed your lifestyle to achieve it?

People seem to view the 8 stone range as really small/light even if it's a healthy BMI weight for those of us on the shorter side.

I put weight on and lost it sensibly and now maintain it around 8st 10lb without much effort. I'm 5ft 3in.

I’m 5’4 and weight 8.10-8.12 I don’t look slim at all compared to others in my height/weight range probably because I am more sturdy looking/bigger bones 😆 but I’m fairly happy with my weight, in an ideal world I’d like to be mid 8s but weirdly early 8s make me look sick and look like I need a few pork pies down my neck

Minimum85percentCocoa · 10/09/2024 15:17

5’3” There’s a very big difference between how I look at 8stone and 9stone. I carry all the extra weight between my waist and mid thighs and it looks odd to me when I’m at the heavier end as the top half doesn’t match the bottom.

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 10/09/2024 15:55

5 foot 5 and size 8, weight fluctuates between 8st 3 and 8st 10. Ideal for me is 8st 5. I don't diet but try to eat healthily for my overall health. Even when I didn't eat healthily though I've never gone over that weight.

BruFord · 10/09/2024 19:41

mushypaperstraws · 10/09/2024 13:57

I'm 8st13lbs and 5ft6

Size 10-12

I have pretty much no muscle tone though and that makes a difference. Very fit people will be 8st13 and size 6-8

@mushypaperstraws I think that's why my extra weight isn't bothering me atm. I'm a regular swimmer, which keeps me toned all over. I probably should give up treats and try to get back down to under 9st though.

bakewellbride · 10/09/2024 19:55

I'm 5 foot 6 and 8 stone 4 pounds.

I'm a vegan
I'm teetotal
I drink lots of water and eat healthily
I only eat chocolate once a week
I am active and run 9 miles a week and walk everywhere

I enjoy all of these things (apart from limiting chocolate 😭) so it doesn't feel like 'work' but I guess to some it might.

bakewellbride · 10/09/2024 19:55

I fast for 16 hours twice a week too

@bakewellbride I think it’s getting into the routine that’s difficult. I do like a couple of glasses of wine a week, but if I go teetotal for a few weeks, it’s the first week that’s annoying, then I get used to it!

bakewellbride · 10/09/2024 20:03

@BruFord I've been teetotal for nearly 8 years so it definitely just feels like normal life now. Could never, ever quit coffee or chocolate though!

SecondFavouriteDinosaur · 10/09/2024 20:03

I don’t think anyone regards it as crazily thin, do they? It will entirely depend on your frame and height.

endofthecorridoor · 10/09/2024 20:18

Probably a bit age dependent not just hight.

Eightstonequestions · 10/09/2024 20:43

Thank you for all the replies. It's interesting to read them and know many others are a similar height and weight.

I'm 48 and have been in perimenopause for about 6 years. I don't seem to have changed shape at all since losing weight, there's just less fat.

I can never figure out my frame size. Compared to someone of a different ethnicity of a similar height I'm chunky. I do not have delicate bone structure at all. My wrists and ankles are quite skinny but my elbows and knees chunky. I consider myself a medium build I guess.

@Sunnysundayicecream You must be tiny!
I’ve gone under 8st a couple of times in my life and my periods stopped, so it wasn’t the right weight for me.

If I'm honest I look a bit scrawny as I get older, but there's not much I can do about it, so I don't stress about it. I did have irregular periods when I was younger, but taking thyroid meds sorted that.

Yes, we battle everything as we age - weight gain for some people, the scrawny look for others, fine lines, etc. Oh to be young again, we don't appreciate our youthful bodies! 😂

JayeAshe · 10/09/2024 21:11

5: 6" 68 yrs, never been over 9 st ( maybe in early 20's). Currently around 8 to 8.5 st , don't often weigh . vegetarian.

Bayern · 10/09/2024 21:24

5'2" and 8st 13lb at the moment. I look and feel fat and flabby.
18 months ago I was 7st which was a little too light at 50, but was MH induced. I was aiming for 8st and life colluded against me. Now, I will always choose my MH over my arse!

User543211 · 10/09/2024 21:30

I'm 5ft 1 and 8 stone 2. I've lost a stone in the last year (after gaining through 2 pregnancies) and it was so bloody hard. I'd like to get just below 8 ideally but I WFH now and with 2 small kids really struggle to up my activity level. I eat 2 meals a day and do strength training to maintain 8st 2.

@Bayern You're not overweight in terms of BMI though. You were underweight when you were unwell so it's good that you're now at a healthier weight. When you're feeling up to it, some exercise will get you feeling more toned. Gradual steps, you can't do everything at once when you're recovering from an illness. Flowers

Eightstonequestions · 10/09/2024 22:04

@Bayern I exercise a lot (walking 50+ miles a week, gardening, hill walking) but I'm flabby. It sucks. I haven't the time or energy to tone up.

crewsocks · 10/09/2024 22:24

I'm 5'4 and currently 8.57st, but I'm feeling rather chunky at the moment in comparison to my normal 8.07st.

And when I say chunky, I'm referring to a chunky version of MY SELF in comparison to what my normal happy weight is. All of my clothes are too tight at the moment and I've got roles and saddle bags that make me feel very uncomfortable.

When your shorter / smaller in size even a small fluctuation in weight can have a big impact

pinkgown · 10/09/2024 22:27

If I were that weight I'd be about 3 feet high🙁

EatingRipeCamembert · 10/09/2024 22:31

I'm 5 foot 2 and 8st 12lbs.

For years I was 9 to 10.5 stone.

Ideally I'd lose a few more pounds to get rid of my belly flubber.

I have run 3 half marathons this year. I run at least 4 miles 2-3x a week and cycle around 25 miles at least once every week. I am fit, that is not in question. I am extremely light framed though and BMI doesn't differentiate my shape from someone more solidly built. I know I am chubby based on how my clothes fit not an arbitrary chart or what my scales say.

@Bayern I was just trying to make you feel more comfortable with your new weight; as you said, good MH is very important.

Feellikeafailurenow · 10/09/2024 23:24

5 foot 3

lowest i’ve ever got to was 8 st 8 & was alot of work. I’ve boobs / bum / wide hips & a section pouch now & i’m pushing 9 stone at 40 & been over it a few times after holidays etc & it is now quite hard work to maintain below even though i eat similar to how i always have and am
just as active’

CortieTat · 11/09/2024 05:58

5 foot 3 and below 8sr (49 kg). Small frame, tiny feet and hands. The heaviest I’ve ever been was 63 kilo in pregnancy.. I start to look overweight at around 58 kg (8st 8?) - puffy face, double chin, saddle bags, no space between inner tights.
