Age 54, 5'3, a couple of pounds under 8st. It's the slimmest I've been in my adult life. Hovered around 8 1/2 stone in my 20s and 30s, 9 stone in my 40s, early 50s crept up to 9 1/2 stone a year ago.
Always eaten fairly healthily with lots of fruit, veg and wholegrains, but too many treats. Decided a year ago to make some lifestyle changes.
Increased exercise, reduced saturated fat hugely, started having low or no carbs with dinner, cut down wine to a small glass every couple of weeks, stopped having cake and biscuits with the rest of the family.
Gradually lost about a pound every 3 weeks. Maintained for a few months now. Have eaten 3 meals a day and 1 snack throughout and just continued after reaching my goal weight of 8 stone. Still have a couple of squares 90% Lindt chocolate most days.
Feel so much better in myself. At the weekend DH and DS had a big chocolate cake. I didn't feel deprived by not having any. I've decided I enjoy feeling good about my body more than I enjoy eating chocolate cake.
Previously I had tried to lose weight by eating healthily but still having treats like cake sometimes. It didn't work. My change of mindset and my view of myself as not eating that kind of thing anymore seemed to be what I needed to do.
I've got rid of some clothes that are too big and treated myself to new ones. Hoping my chloresterol, blood pressure and hb1ac will be lower than they were last year when I have the next annual test at the GP. They were all high normal, on the border of being a concern last time, which was my main motivation.
