Intermittent Fasting

I really want to start IF properly (16:8) but every time I start I get awful stomach cramps along the way, like trapped wind pains, very bloated and it really stops me in my tracks.
is this normal - shall I persist? Will it ease as I get used to it?

yesterday I fasted 16 hours and then ate a salad for lunch, and a cheese omelette with greens for dinner. I had a nut/seed bar and a baby bel for snack. I drink lots of water and one cup of coffee (inside eating window).

any thoughts or experiences welcome!

Hmm. What's a typical day of eating when you're not fasting and not suffering from wind?

HomemadeHallie · 29/08/2024 19:39

I tend to have bran flakes/porridge with fruit for breakfast, I make a different salad each week for lunches and dinner can range from - chicken fajitas/cod fillets & veg/carbonara etc

Have you tried mint tea?
I find it really helps my digestion/stomach. I tend to drink it before bed and I try to only eat between 10am - 6pm each day.

So would you say it's just the longer fasting window that's different? I'm no expert but I'd probably look at things you can do to help reduce bloating (e.g. gentle exercise??) and give it some time to see if your body settles down. I saw something earlier on Instagram that some bloating is the sign of a good gut biome.

@lij8793 thank you I will try the mint tea.
my eating window is later due to my work so 12.00pm-8.00pm, wonder if that makes a difference.

@Peae thank you. Yes i think so as I am eating normally and focusing on being healthy, just skipping breakfast. I usually do at least 15 mins of stretches before bed as well as some type of movement in the morning.

I will persist and see how I go 😊
