Refused Mounjaro after gallbladder removal

I was refused Mounjaro from an UK online pharmacy when I disclosed that I had my gallbladder removed . Should I try one of the many other online pharmacies and lie about my condition ?

OP posts:

Should you lie about your medical history to fraudulently obtain a drug which is not suitable for you?!

Sure.. what could go wrong. 😑

Moier · 21/08/2024 19:44

I've had my gallbladder removed and l got mounjaro.
Did it ask you if you have gallbladder problems?
If it did you tick NO.. because you haven't got one anymore to have problems with ..
My diabetic nurse helped me answer the questions.. she's also done another blood test to see if she can get it on the NHS for me.. even though ive told her l can afford it and she knows l go private for loads of my health problems.. so I'd decline it anyhow)
( I'm with medexpress)

Oh it's fine, they'll still find a way to sue the prescriber for giving them what they lied to ask for when it all goes wrong.
Seems to be the way medicine works now, demand something, lie to get it, ignore all the advice of how dangerous it is, then sue when all the bad stuff you were told would happen actually happens.

@WhereIsBebèsChambre and @WhereIsBebèsChambre
I actually think the OP as misread the questionnaire..
I know many have . See my post above.
You cannot have Gallbladder problems if you've had it removed.
That's what the question asks.

Moier · 21/08/2024 19:53

I can honestly say I've had no side effects.
I did buy ginger capsules.

I've had my gallbladder out and no one asked me! I get my prescription from Lloyds Chemist. Try somewhere else.

frecklejuice · 21/08/2024 20:00

Just seen the post about nausea, I'm on 5mg now and have been for 5 weeks and the nausea is horrible!

Moier · 21/08/2024 20:00

You tick no because you don't have one .. to get issues anymore.

@frecklejuice
I'm on 5 now.
Lost a stone on 2.5 in four weeks.
Take the injection at night.
Buy some ginger oil capsules.
Ginger tea bags are good too.
If you've ever been pregnant and had morning sickness treat it the same way.
No fatty / fried foods.
Those of us with type 2 diabetes seem to be better with no sickness feeling.
Hope it doesn't last long.Good luck x

Thank you @Moier I’m on week 10 now and have lost 23lb but nothing over the last two weeks. I inject on a Monday morning so I’ll try a Monday evening instead and get some ginger capsules. Good luck to you as well.

Moier · 21/08/2024 20:14

@frecklejuice
Aww thankyou.
Its helping me in every way so far.
Wish I'd done it sooner.
I'm 66 now.. but I'm wanting a new hip. 10 years ago l was 11 stone.. I've put a stone on a year since my accident and broke both hips and pelvis.
I also became type 2.
I've always taken care of my appearance too.. so l said to myself it's never too late.
👍

You might get more responses if you start a thread in the Weightloss Treatments/Injections section instead of here?

Is it Wegovy or Mounjaro you're taking? Are you managing to eat and are you eating a reasonable range of food?

It could be low blood sugar causing the dizziness or even low blood pressure. The upset stomach could be down to the slowing of your digestive transit.

If you're concerned I would contact your prescriber and ask them for advice.

Hi applied for MJ via MedExpress which was approved. Received it a day ago and then at 10:30 last night get an email saying not to take it and I shouldn’t have been prescribed it as I told them I’d had my gallbladder removed. Answered no to the question re: gallbladder or duct problems as I don’t have one anymore. Anyone else had this issue? I’m phoning them today to challenge it as I’ve seen many post from people without a gallbladder being prescribed by MedExpress.

anyone else experienced this?

I had my gallbladder removed in April 2024 so 10 months ago. I went through all my history, warts and all, with the doctor at Pharmacy2U and was prescribed it. Medexpress is a popular choice and I think they just want totally simple cases, which makes me wonder if they have proper doctors spending adequate time reviewing each case. My own GP and the Pharmacy2U doctor both agreed it was fine, with the caveat "go slow". Fine by me. 5 weeks in and I'm 6kgs down.

Possibly the issue is that rapid weight loss increases the risk of gallstones? I'm not certain that's the reason as I've not been on the injections so haven't had this question and I don't know how rapidly you would lose it on mountjaro. However I know of a few people who developed gallstones following very low calorie diets like Cambridge/Lighter Life.

Conversely, being overweight is also a risk factor for gallstones. That's why I no longer have a gallbladder lol.

I've had mine removed and am prescribed Mounjaro via the NHS by my diabetes nurse and GP. Have been on it since September and no problems at all.
