5st for me. 14st 7, aiming to get to 9st 7. Anyone want to join me?

I'm planning on

  • dropping carbs and sugars, maybe with the exception of an occasional wine
  • dropping out UPF as much as possible
  • doing 16:8, eating window of 12pm-8pm
  • at least 30 mins daily exercise, swimming, steps on elliptical, YT workouts and I'll try and add some yogo or pilates in at some point
  • once I've dropped a bit of weight & inflammation and am feeling better I'll look at going back to the gym, maybe for the 1st September
  • plenty of water each day
  • adding green tea in, daily

I did plan on getting up early and getting some steps in but I woke up with a headache (last carbs were before lunch) so I think the next few days might be a bit rough, especially for cravings. I'm going to try to stop that with green tea, as that has helped with that before. And I'll go for a swim tonight.

5st to lose here too OP! Although we go on holiday later this week so it may be more a case of damage limitation for a couple of weeks Grin

I have DTs who are almost 9 and a DP who has a LOT of weight to lose - probably the best part of 10st - but refuses to move off the sofa very often, so...

Do you have any specific exercise programme/ app you're using?

spackleplumb · 30/07/2024 00:18

In October last year I had just over 6 stone to lose (when I started). I'm down almost 5 stone now but still going. Can I join? Started at 16st 5lbs, now down to 11st 12lbs and aiming for 10st 2lbs. I've cut out alcohol entirely, no cheese or bread or pasta or pizza, no chocolate or crisps either. It's not easy at the start but I'm so used to it by this point and I feel so much healthier for it. You can definitely do it!

ADVICENEEDED987 · 30/07/2024 00:28

I started last week, I've cut out carbs and am not missing them much at the moment. I think the weather helps as I am happy to eat lots of salad. I have no time for exercise unfortunately - I'm either at work or looking after the kids (single parent to 3 children) so I really struggle with activity levels. I'm at a desk all day at work so my step count is incredibly low.

I've got 3 stone to lose, I'm 13 st 9 at the moment and would love to get closer to 10 st 7 if I can. I was that weight 3 years ago and my weight has just gradually crept up (I haven't looked after myself or my eating since my marriage breakdown) and I don't recognise myself in the mirror anymore. I'm determined to lose the weight this time as I feel so unhealthy

LadyCrumpet · 30/07/2024 09:47

@JaneFoster I'm using my fitness pal, google fit, macadam - that gives you money for steps (not a lot but if you are doing them anyway) and I've just downloaded JustFit, it has workouts for lazy people 😂

@ADVICENEEDED987 My step count can be shocking if I don't go out, I wfh too so unless I make an effort, its embarrassingly low.

@spackleplumb Well done!

I had salad for lunch yesterday and a bacon and mushroom chaffle for dinner yesterday and planning salad for lunch and a spicy chicken soup tonight.

Ill job. you, sim liar amount to try and lose. Going to also try some of the things you mentioned. Best of luck with it all.

Orangesandlemons77 · 30/07/2024 10:00

*join

Slimpodwinpod · 30/07/2024 10:32

Can I join. I started at 14st in Jan and I've just weighed myself at 12st 8. I've been doing slim pod, but I've been a bit shit listening recently. I have been eating pretty well though. It's painfully slow going, but I'm not really dieting which is a plus and different from all the other times I've tried to lose weight. I'm also peri menopausal so I'm not expecting miracles just slow and steady will do.

LadyCrumpet · 31/07/2024 08:41

How is everyone getting on?

I had salad for lunch and soup for dinner yesterday, hot my water and green tea targets too.

OP posts:
Orangesandlemons77 · 31/07/2024 09:10

I did Ok yesterday, think the hot weather helped in a way. Had a Purition protein shake at about 1.30 pm and a 'healthy range' Thrive, fish curry for dinner. Didn't fancy pudding.

LadyCrumpet · 31/07/2024 09:27

Yes, the heat definitely makes me less hungry.

Am 11st7lbs and want to be 10st for my birthday in November but have absolutely zero motivation

I've bought a treadmill and one of those weighted hoop track things weeks ago and not even attempted either 🙄

Aim for just 5 mins today, I do that and end up doing my whole 20 or 30 mins.

I have a similar amount to lose and know I am in obese territory but can't face the scales at the moment. I plan to reduce portion size ,reduce carbs and to eliminate snacks. Wine is a big issue for me and a huge source of 'wasted 'calories as well as being the main cause of snacking. I eat pretty healthily. I like the idea of 16:8 but when I have tried it have been unable to give up milk in my morning tea and coffee( 1 cup of each first thing) . Have others had the same? I sound rather negative I know but I am also pretty inactive in that my job is sedentary and I have a household to keep on top of. I do move around but don't hit exercise targets very often. I absolutely do have to lose weight though so will try to keep up with you guys .

LoserWinner · 31/07/2024 13:36

Good luck! I lost 6st using these strategies, and have kept it off long term. Just don’t lose patience - it took me 18 months. And once a fortnight, give yourself a day off. Don’t binge or anything, but that’s the day you can have a takeaway or a cream cake without counting calories/carbs.

Nonamenoplacetogo · 31/07/2024 14:22

Please can I join. My weight has crept up and I'm almost back to where I was before losing 5 stone 8 years ago. I'm 16 stone 6lbs this am. I'm cutting out carbs and processed junk, within reason I'll eat in an 8 hour window. I'd like to lose a stone by end of August as have a family event. I swam this morning and plan to go for a walk later on when it's cooler.

I'm had yoghurt with chia seeds and pumpkin seeds for brunch, will cook some chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella later on.

Can I join too please? I’m on my third day. I probably don’t really belong on this thread as I’ve way more to lose than any of you. I’ve got about 10 stone to lose. At least. That will get me down to 12 stone. I can’t even write my weight down on here, I was horrified when I got on the scales. I’m honestly so disgusted with myself for getting to this point.

Some brilliant posters on here have given me some great advice on my own thread. I’m doing the same as you OP - low carb, cut out sugar and trying to eliminate UPF. Exercise is hard to fit in but trying to up my step count.

I’m doing really well with sticking to the diet but oh my lord, the headache and nausea is crippling!!

Shinyllama · 31/07/2024 14:57

Hello,

I'd love to join too please! I'm following Weightwatchers at the moment. Starting weight was 14 stone 10 and I'm now 14 stone 4. I'm aiming for 10 stone 7.

hsar200 · 31/07/2024 14:58

I'm struggling to make the start. Same boat here except I weigh in kg rather than stones.

spackleplumb · 31/07/2024 20:32

Well done everyone on making the start- even if the start is just posting on here, it's still a start! I know someone further up mentioned milk in their tea etc. I've reduced dairy significantly and found replacing with almond or oat milk helped a lot. It's lower calorie, lower fat, feels much lighter on my digestive system and because it's not as easily gluggable I don't end up consuming nearly as much of it as I would if it were dairy or sweetened soya. I also cut alchohol completely and can genuinely say I haven't missed it. I've lost a parent this year, and had to keep working and running a house with 2 ASN children. If I can manage that and still not have alcohol, chocolate, cheese, bread etc then definitely so can you. It will be so so worth it. I've also become obsessed with watching Sean of Steel on YouTube with his My 600lb Life videos. Weird as it sounds it honestly motivates me and keeps me conscious of my eating habits. Also he's fun to watch and makes me smile!

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/07/2024 20:38

Thank you @spackleplumb

I have 10+ stone to lose. Currently over 25. 😬
Had a big shock when I got on the scales last week.
Weight had piled on as a result of hormones and steroids I've been taking for cancer treatment. Plus emotional eating.

Started slimming world again last week and first weigh in tomorrow.

HighlandCowbag · 01/08/2024 08:14

Ooo can I join in?

I have around 4st to lose to be within BMI. However, I'm aiming for 7lbs to start with by time kids go back to school.

Am cutting out bread, beer and wine in the week (my biggest vice), UPFs as much as I realistically can. I am fit (horses) and very active (average of 15k steps a day, 7 days a week) and strong. Just a fatty as well.

I also want to increase protein, and reduce but not eliminate carbs. I won't be starting until Monday tho cos no one starts a diet on a Thursday.

Goldenthigh · 01/08/2024 08:41

I started 2 days ago, I'm 15.5 stone and want to get down to 12. I'm starting off just tracking calories on MFP, I did IF very successfully some years back but it went to pot in covid lockdown and I put all the weight back on again. I'm just aiming to monitor portion size and cut snacks, my meals are usually healthy just too big and I'm terrible with snacking.
