Chocolate/sugar addiction

Hi. My weight has been creeping up as I have zero will power when it comes to chocolate/biscuits/cake etc. id like to sort my willpower out, not just never allow chocolate in the house. I've been listening to the Craig beck sugar hypnosis thing on audible but I struggle to focus enough, as my mind keeps wondering off to thinking about the washing or whatever. I think it's been helping though.

I have a baby, so have little time to dedicate to hypnosis or meditation. What I think might help me is other stuff I can listen to while pottering about that is going to help me want to continue not eating so many biscuits etc. I've never really got into podcasts but maybe this is what I need? Any suggestions? I don't want to change anything else in my diet, so not up for eliminating ultra processed food etc, just want tips/motivation for saying no to biscuits and chocolate. Nothing too heavy or sciency I guess. Or different hypnosis suggestions?

I've had gestational diabetes twice, the second time I had a few hypos despite being on insulin and eating well. This should have scared me enough to get my shit together. After I gave birth I was happy with my weight, but when stressed (baby is awful sleeper) I reach for chocolate and 9 months later I'm the biggest I've ever been.

Sorry, rambling on there. Anyone else just trying to cut down on sugar without going on a 'diet' as such?

It sounds like you might have insulin resistance. Have you had your HbA1c tested recently?

Oh, thanks. If that's the standard diabetes one you have 12 weeks after birth then I was told I didn't have diabetes. I just tried to look at my result but I can't see it, probably because of the global IT system thing. I have always been this way, just love chocolate too much. If I were to quit it or drastically cut down I'd be able to lose weight pretty quickly I think. I just lack willpower.

Insulin resistance isn't the same as diabetes, it's a precursor. It would mean that sugar is driving hour blood glucose levels up and down like a rollercoaster work hour craving chocolate in the dips. It might be an idea to cut out sugar entirely or try a low carb diet to see whether your blood glucose stabilises and you don't get the chocolate cravings any more.

Thank you very much @StuntNun I will look into this as I didn't know that. I haven't had chocolate/biscuits/cake since Wednesday (although had some wine and lots of carbs!) so I think a combination of being ready and the hypnosis track are doing something.
