26 days to lose some weight

Or at least be less bloated!

I am not actually over weight but want to lose a little before a holiday in 26 days.

What are your best tips?

(I’m not willing to make myself unwell for the sake of looking/feeling a bit better).

Fast 800

soupfiend · 09/07/2024 21:18

You wont lose 'weight' in such a short time, but you'll lose water retention and if you cut right back on refined and starchy carbs, you'll feel less bloated if the bloating is being caused by that

Lots of watery foods like veg

I find sugars bloat me and swell up my joints, make me feel sluggish (just about to eat some chocolate so Im obviously not that bothered) so if you stick to veg rather than fruit and cut other sugars, you might find this works for you

At the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023 I was doing a calorie deficit diet and lost 18lb in 6 weeks 🤩
I used an app called NutraCheck (pic of app attached) which allows you to add all your food, drink and exercise into so that you can keep track 🤗

That one puts limits on how many entires you can make for free. I changed to

Calorie Counter - MyNetDiary

You set a goal and it tell you what calories you should eat. It breaks down your food into food groups and tells you how to improve.

VeganAvo · 09/07/2024 22:14

I agree with less sugar, refined carbs and the biggest one is usually reducing alcohol.

Yes that is a pain but when I have "too many" entries, I add everything into one "meal" to get around it - eg. Ham salad, pear, apple and banana goes as a meal instead of 4 entries if that makes sense.
I'm going to have a look at that other app you mentioned as I've started my diet again this week 🤗

i lose 4kg in a month doing fasting and when i eat normal. Not a lot but normal. Its all gained back. Because its water weight!! You cant lose fat that quick. Its impossible.

now i joining gym and learn properly how to lose weight than i know there is no such a thing as losing weight fast. Its only your water and you will gained it back. So do it properly.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/07/2024 00:16

Keto, lots of water, no booze and 15,000 steps every day if you can.

greenblueredyellowviolet · 10/07/2024 00:53

Eat three meals a day but nothing in between
Reduce dinner portion size
Replace some breakfasts lunches with just eggs (fill you up for a good while)
Drink only water / tea /black coffee

AstonMartha · 10/07/2024 08:36

@Femme2804 I do weights at the gym five times a week, plus two classes a week, 70000-10000 steps a day so it’s actually probably water weight that I need to lose. I don’t mind gaining it back, as I said I’m not over weight, more the wrong shape. I just want to look and feel a bit better for a special occasion.

How are you learning how to lose weight in the gym out of interest?

unsync · 10/07/2024 08:49

MyNetDiary for tracking is great. Drink 2l water a day, low sugar and no alcohol. If your gym has Pilates, that will make a huge difference to your shape, but probably not in your timescale.

AstonMartha · 10/07/2024 08:51

I do Pilates but it’s only weekly. I would love to do it more but sadly it’s not available more often near me.

Just to add that water does hold weight, and to lose it is still losing weight! No, it isn't losing fat, but it'll make a big difference to how puffy or bloated you are. And of course you can lose fat in 26 days too.

AstonMartha · 10/07/2024 09:44

Thanks @AuntieEstablishment maybe I should have posted ‘how to lose water weight’ rather than weight.

Carbs and salt hold water. For every 1g of carbs it holds 3-4G of water. For high salt intake your body can hold onto a fair amount of water
