Has anyone lost weight by using a walking pad.

I am thinking about getting a walking pad so I can keep my steps up.

Also I heard they are great to help with concentration while working.

I am wondering if using a walking pad has helped anyone loose weight?

Also if you have one you like could you share a link to it, as there are so many out there it's confusing which one to get Confused

Can you just walk outside? Appreciate you might have kids you cant leave. I think natural walking is better for you, hills etc. I think most people abandon the walking pads pretty quickly (based on just anecdotes from friends/colleagues)

Edit to add walking wont help you lose weight if you dont make dietary changes

Well if you are doing more exercise it will help you lose weight even if you don’t make dietary changes as long as you don’t eat more. It’s just about keeping it up.

I don't always have time to walk outside, but I do it when I can. I was more thinking it would be useful when I'm working from home as I sit for hours which causes hip / back problems etc

A walking pad alone won’t make you lose weight but any movement is better than none.

To lose weight you need to look at your diet.

Unlikely that extra walking will create enough calorie deficit to actually lead to weight loss though

You cant out run a bad diet as they say

I did 26 miles last week - a marathon hike - 8.5 hrs of non stop walking, cliffs, roads, beaches , coastal paths and steps - loads of steps and stiles - I burned the grand total of 3000 calories - a 1lb weight loss

I don’t know if it’s led to weight loss but it’s the only exercise I’m doing currently as i had a minor injury earlier this year that I’m still l recovering from, plus I also WFH.

My hayfever has been bad recently so didn’t leave house for days . My total step count today including walking pad steps , marching on the spot while watching tv or on the phone and pottering around the house today was 8K. Sometimes it’s a bit more, sometimes a bit less. Ideally I’d go out for walk instead but it’s not always practical for me so this is better than nothing!

I rely more on my calorie deficit for weight loss but I do think it’s important to walk not only for my general fitness and mood, but also it boosts my metabolism and I do think you can speed up weight loss. Start with 30 minutes a day and see if you can eventually get up to 90-120 minutes five times week. I think you’re likely to see results either on the scale (or inches off your waist) once you get to walking 60 mins +

And anyway even if you don’t lose weight it’s still good for your physical and mental health. I don’t have the link for mine not sure if that particular model is available but just look on Amazon. Mine cost around £170. It has no handles/bar and it goes up to 10Km/h.

It can help though. I do 20,000+ steps a day through running etc and burn about 2300 calories a day on average. It's a heck of a lot easier to limit your calories to 1800 than it would be to limit to 1000 which is what I would have to limit to if I didn't exercise to have the same deficit and was trying to lose weight steadily. I'm not trying to lose weight but because of the exercise I do I don't really worry about what I eat on a day to day basis to stay at a size 8 without exercise my maintenance cals would be 1500.

OP the best form of exercise is one you will stick to. If you get a walking pad and use it consistently then it will help, it won't work magic on its own but it will help.

I got one, after my cousin bought one. She's now fit and toned and has lost the dreaded 'big back' too. I don't much use mine whilst working. I use it every time I'm on the phone. I also put on music when I've finished work, and just get walking. I have a smart watch that reminds me to get up and move, on the hour. So then I get on Walking Pad for 10 minutes or so.

It's a Godsend for me as I'm not motivated to get ready, up and out to go for a walk. Especially if it's too hot or too cold out. But I find I do use the Walking Pad and I like it. Easy on the joints too. I don't tend to weigh myself as my focus isn't mainly weight loss, I wanted something to motivate me to keep moving. That's equally as important as weight loss for me. But my clothes are looser.

I bought mine on Amazon as I wanted to read reviews before choosing
