Orlistat starting tips

Hi all,

I'm 43, currently 6 stone overweight and doctor has suggested I try orlistat.

I've been having a read online and quite nervous, but also desperate as I've had so many other previous failed attempts.

I would love love to hear others experiences, how much weight they lost, over what timeframe?

Tips

Will the doctor keep me on these until I'm at my ideal weight or just until I'm out of the obese bracket?

Thanks in advance x

Keep a change of clothes with you and wipes and a bag. Accidents are not uncommon especially until you get to know how what you eat will affect you.
Tried it myself years ago and gave up as it was too antisocial for me.

Start it when you don't need to leave the house for several days. Buy moist toilet wipes and incontinence wear. (I tried it years ago, and swiftly gave up)

You think 'just one snack', and boom - orange diarrhoea you can't make it to the loo for.

Had to throw several pants and trousers out.

Didn't work out in the end. I have arfid and was so fearful of eating something which made the orange bad times happen, I simply stopped eating.

I'm on week 3 and I was worried about the side effects BUT if you keep the fat low in your meals you will be fine. My meals generally contain between 8 and 17g of fat depending on what we are having and I've been fine. I've lost 9lb7oz so far. It's weigh day tomorrow so I may have lost a little more. Don't worry to much just always check the fat content in your meals, you will learn how much you can have without incident as time goes on.
