I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

I'm starting WW on Monday and i have to say i'm really looking forward to it!

Right, now to eat the last 4 maltesers, slurp back the last of my wine and then hit the sack.

morning all....

bad news from me i am afraid... i knew i shouldnt of had my start weight of 15.10 as this was after a week of being ill and not eating.... my real start weight would have been 16 stone

so i am now 15.13.... pants pants pants i have put on 3...

i was going to lie about it but what is the point.... i would only be cheating myself...

so i think i will write this week off. and start again and have a loss next saturday...

I also struggle with weekends, me and girls are going to kids club cinema this morning.. i am planning to take them a small bag of sweets rather than a big bag, as i will be tempted to munch as well....

AGS- what is the micro mushrooms? and how many points in a crunchie....? thanks

Hello all. THe weekend - oh no. I always wnat to sit on the sofa in the evening with a bag of doritos, but will try to swop for carrot sticks and low fat yoghurt tzatkiki - not the same and far more effort than opening a bag!
Chocspiders - have you tried taking your own popcorn to the cinema - I'm not doing ww but I think it might be ok to have. Good luck for this week.
I think Fern Britton did lots of cycling and wow isn't she an inspiration. My DH got me a bike last weekend. He did the London to Brighton last year and trained a bit before and looked great on it. I'm not planning on going that far though, and I hate cycling in traffic (bad memories). Luckily we live near a show ground we can cycle around there without traffic. There are also a couple of cycle tracks I didn't even know existed which are disused railway lines so nice and flat! I went out for a cycle one evening this week, with DS on DH's bike and it was great. Thye do say you never forget how to ride a bike but I did feel a bit rusty and my bum did ache despite the ample padding! THe weather has gone a bit rubbish. Was hoping to get out again this weekend. maybe later on.
Good luck over the weekend and for anyone weighing today. Look forward to hearing all about it.

Hi everyone

Congrats on the losses so far and good luck for the weekend! It's the weekends that will be the hardest for me too I reckon!!

Well done sandramaryb!

My goal for this week is to keep making sure I get all my fruit and veg portions, and go out for an hour's walk at least 3 times.

Bugger. I was doing so well and I've just finished off the sausage pasta I made the DCs for their tea. It was delicious even if I do say so myself

If only I could be hypnotised or something not to eat the leftovers, my life with be slimmer. We have this "waste not..." stuff drilled into our subconscious and I'm sure it leads us to who we are now. Chuck it away, I try and convince myself as I know I will be the only one eating leftovers.

Anyone got any tips on avoiding the dreaded LOs? Just thought of one actually, could get children and husband to throw their own leftovers away - I might try that tomorrow.

I should not give them so much in the first place, then they wouldn't leave any.

But, tomorrow is another day, and it will be a nice new start!

well done on losing too sandramary.

I was always told to clear my plate too and it's been the bain of my life! I swore that i would never force my son to clear his plate. If he's full, he's full. The way i look at it now is that either way, the left overs would be gone - either in his tummy or in the bin!

Chuck 'em in the bin!

Hmmm its all gone a bit quiet on here! How is everyone doing?

I had a fairly good weekend, went for a long walk yesterday and am about to go out again today - would normally take the car but am going to get the exercise instead

I was thinking it had gone quiet too.
I am doing ok , had a bad day yesterday (came a cropper over some roast beef monster munch) but am back on track today.
I am still feeling positive and my jeans are lose so must have lost something but am hanging out for the 10 week weigh in ......

Any one have any tips for getting through those 'I must eat this and sod the diet' moments ??

KelaS · 21/04/2008 15:45

Not sure this is the right answer, but I would say eat it, don't beat yourself up about it, but be extra good afterwards to make up for it. You need a treat every once in a while

Hiya everyone.

Hope you all had good weekends - my sin was the old vino. So didnt lose any but didn't put any more on .

Took the dog to the vets last week and a sales rep there referred to him being "portly" - so even the poor hound is on a diet now! Much easier to control what he eats rather than what I do - DH claims its transference!

Hello everyone. I had a good weekend even though I went out to lunch twice! I was very restrained and had chicken, half a roast the first day and a piri piri burger the next. So am hoping for good things at my weigh in tomorrow.

As for tips on how to avoid the 'I have to have it' moments! If you can distract yourself, make a cup of tea or coffee or have a glass of water. If this doesn't work (and it often doesn't) try to think rationally about it but in my experience, it is really hard to be rational when you feel like this. So in the end, you may have it but then have to go like crazy to make up for it. For instance, yesterday I was at Chessington with my family and had to have a doughnut. It was absolutely worth not having any other food for the rest of the day. But you do have to make up for it otherwise it will show on the scales unfortunately.

Chocolate, microwaved mushroom, just mushrooms on a plate put in micro for a minute or two. Also Crunchies are 3.5 points.

Well done Argy on joining ww. Good luck for the week ahead.

Hi, we are quiet aren't we? My excuse is that I am revising for some exams I've got in 3 days so I'm trying to hold it all together. So I'm going dark (as they say on 24) and I'll be in touch again at the weekend.

Be good everyone!

I'm just keeping quiet!!!

Been at work today so massive exercise, but tired and hungry as no time for lunch and I didn't take any fruit. I did have a big breakfast first to keep me going.

Well done everyone who is coping well (I aren't really.) It is my weigh in tomorrow, so it's a new start for me from then. Plus we are doing stuff in the garden this week. Fingers crossed.

Hi everyone!

Well, a not-so-good-but-not-that-bad day in Chateau RG. Armed with a whopping 37 points, i still managed to go 2 points over lol. I have been choosing my food choices badly tho by having a twix, a mars bar AND a crunchie! In my defence, the twix and mars bar were fun size ones, of which i had two each so it doesn't seem like you're eating alot because they are so small. As for the Crunchie, well i'm afraid i needed it after taking the cat back to the vets and being told that so far the vet bill is almost £500. I had to go to Asda after that and, well, it just kinda fell into my basket.

I hope to have a better day tomorrow. I keep thinking of all the free choices i can have! Yummy!
