Quitting wegovy

JONSWIFEY · 01/06/2024 12:45

SW - 12st 1lb
CW- 10st
GW - 9st 7lbs

Started wegovy in Feb and I only have 7lbs to lose. The highest dose I administered was 1.7mg, never had the need for the max dose.

It not only helped loose weight but also helped me cut alcohol which was the cause of my gain as drinking a bottle or two of wine nearly every night.

I am going to start tapering my dose down to 1mg from next week for 4 weeks then down to 5mg then the minimum 2.5mg until GW reached.

I am determined not to regain the weight but am worried how I will feel when I stop completely.

Would appreciate some advice from others who quit Wegovy and managed to keep on a level and can advise me on how they felt.

Was your hunger worse
than before? Did alcohol cravings come back with a vegence?

I've been off it since March after losing 4 stone. My hunger hasn't been as bad, probably because I'm much lighter now and my stomach is smaller. The sugar cravings coming back was much worse than hunger. I was glad to be hungry again. I've never had any alcohol cravings before or after thankfully.

@JONSWIFEY how did it go? I'm just about to order and feel I am in same position to you, similar weight but I'm scared it will be worse if I come off then down the line

I have been off it about a year now, I also think my stomach is smaller and I don’t like over eating now. I don’t mind being hungry either, it’s better than feeling sick and bloated all the time. My motivation to keep at it is that I spent a lot of time and money to get here.

I get drunk on a couple of drinks and don’t really like the feeling now of feeling sick or hungover so I don’t drink very much now. I was also drinking too much pre weight loss. Nowadays I value feeling great in the morning rather than yuk

Planning meals is what will keep you right
there is a thread here I will post on it to bump it up

So @Menora, you haven’t regained any weight? That’s great.

No but I have been actively trying to lose the rest of my weight, I had at least 5st to lose. I was using Ozempic for 5 ish months but I was doing it during the bad supply chain issues before MJ was out. I also had a lot of issues with my stomach and gallbladder colic so I stopped injecting a year ago. I lost 2st on it and 3st off it. I haven’t regained during this time

Thanks for replying and well done on your further weight loss, not easy at all.

It was a very good start for me but I am glad I came off it early on now. It was much slower than I think the medicated weight loss would be, but I think that’s what feels more sustainable. I lost 5st many years ago for a wedding and I lost it rapidly and frantically and I gained it all back, I don’t think I appreciated the concept of ‘lifestyle change’ the way I do now. I am not knocking it, everyone should do what’s right for them. It gave me the break I needed but I had to get used to being without it. Things are different now though for other users
