I did it a few months ago and it definitely worked - 7lbs in 7 days . That half stone is back on and am going to do the jucing again starting monday. Any other takers ?

I loved it when I did it and did the Turbocharge as well, etc...but, whenever I drink Juice now I feel immidiately really sick.
(Had an incidence where I was sick after drinking a juice, unrelated to the Juice, but ever since can't go near Juice )

mousemole · 06/04/2008 09:58

oh dear - know what you mean - they have a 'distinct' taste dont they. But its so effective isnt it !

BBBee · 06/04/2008 10:06

can you precise the gist of it?

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 10:08

Bee don't mess with this
you need protein and stuff

hi there i've done it several times but find it so so difficult especially by the 3rd day i find my resolve beginning to weaken, it's only for 7 days FGS but my god they are 7 LONG days, i suffered with hunger, headaches and fatigue, there was no way i'd be able to exercise everyday like he suggested tho!

3andnomore i would feel sick after some juices so i found drinking them really slowly and watering them down helped.

has anyone tried the second phase of the diet yet? i do find the whole thing rather expensive but i think i will give it a go after i have had my baby to shift some of those lbs! i'd have to look into it tho because i'm not sure its compatible with BF

ellideb · 06/04/2008 10:15

frannyandzooey it doesnt matter whether you are vegetarian /vegan or a meat eater to do the 1st phase of the diet as there is protein in some of the juices in the first week in the form of spirulina and yogurt, in the second phase you incorporate more protein in the form of fish and chicken so it would be difficult to maintain if you are veggie/vegan. but most peole just do the 1st phase anyway, its bloody tough!

3andnomore · 06/04/2008 10:18

elli, it wasn't the Juice that amde me sick, I was sick because of somehting else, but well, ever since I siocked up teh Juice it turns my stomach mostly to even just think of it...it's more the memory that is making me feel like barfing, lol!

I did do the Turbochallenge after I did it last year and then continoued for a long time like that and it did work....until I had my Implant taken out and went onto some rubbish pill that made me eat for Britain...and made me crave rubbish, lol!

Franny...Jason Vale's continouence plan does have meat proteing etc...and meals in it...you only just Juice for the first 7 days and then you start eating again, whilst also Juicing....

yorkishbirdy · 06/04/2008 10:22

I did it and found it really easy, I loved all the juices and was surprised at how full I was - I couldn't do them all in a day! I know you need protien etc but it will not hurt you for one week.

I did the second stage and found that harder - there is only so much steamed fish a non-fish eater can take! Still it is very very good and really works, I am due my next bout in around 6 weeks time!

Good luck everyone who decides to do it - oh yes, sorry the excercise was hardest for me, just finding the time for it with children is really tough!

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 10:24

oh sorry, Bee and I are on the 10 / 10 thread together and we call each other veggers on there
oh dear this is embarrassing now
I don't think Bee is vegetarian
I was trying to jokingly warn her off what i admit I do see as a rather extreme form of fasting
why should a diet be bloody tough? you need to eat stuff, not just have juice
but I am sorry for clomping on your thread

hello 3and! I've been looking out for you

ellideb · 06/04/2008 10:25

3andnomore how much weight did you manage to lose on it altogether? did you find it hard? i've never properly completed the 2nd phase although i did try out some of the recipes such as mashed avocado and sardines and absoloutly loved it!

mousemole · 06/04/2008 10:26

there is lots of protein in the spirulina and other veggies you add to the juices. Its also only for seven days and is an incredibly healthy way to eat for seven days. It is very hard work though but apart from the weight loss I felt fantastic at the end. I agree it can be expensive - although I have lots of the supplements left over from last time so seems silly to waste them.
BBBee it is basically a meal replacement programme for seven days where you have five 'juices' through the day containing several fruits and veggies. You also add yoghurt and a variety of supplements so the conistency is pretty thick - more like a smoothie. Elliedeb I did the second phase for a couple of weeks and lost about 2lbs a week. The headaches on day 2 from the detox effect can be pretty ferocious !

sorry franny i misunderstood about the veggie thing, i'll keep my nose out! it is quite extreme i agree with you but its very healthy, packed full of nutrients and is just a good way to kick start a healthy eating plan if you've got the will power!

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 10:30

LOL there is one person who should be keeping her nose out really ellie - me

yorkishbirdy · 06/04/2008 10:31

Please remeber though, you do not fet all the goodness out of the veggies and stuff (despite Jason's rather zealous views) juicing is good but there is stuff left behind that you would eat if you had cooked the vegetable normally. It is a lot healthier than what most of us eat normally but it is not quite as good as he would have us believe!

ellideb · 06/04/2008 10:32

mmm i remember the headaches mousey, i also have lots of supplements left over from the last time too so kinda looking forward to doing it all over again, especially now as i think it will be so much easier as i am working from home. nothing can beat the feeling you get when the scales show 7lbs less, and you do lose the weight if you stick to the plan.

does anyone know if it is safe to do whilst breastfeeding btw?

BBBee · 06/04/2008 10:35

I have read that it is bad to detox when bf as the toxins that your body expels can find their way into breast milk.

ellideb · 06/04/2008 10:38

i have to say i disagree with you yorkshirebirdy (not wanting to sound like i have shares in the sales of this book or anything) because the stuff left over is only the pulp which is indegistable fibre, he wants to remove that so your body doesn't have to work at extracting the nutrients, (which is the juice) from the pulp, also if you cooked the vegetables normally like you say, you destroy the live enzymes. (not married to jason or anything, i just see the method behind his concept)

ellideb · 06/04/2008 10:42

yes BBBee i think i'll give it a miss until baby is weaned, wouldn't want to risk it, or rapid weight loss for that matter in case it affected my milk supply, thanx

3andnomore · 06/04/2008 11:00

I lost about 1 1/2 -2 st....well, I went down to 10 st. which is an o.k. weight for me...

elli...yes, Juices make it possible for teh body to get all the nutrients they can from raw food (and yes, cooking/steaming...anything liek that does distroy life enzymes, etc...)...but fiber of course is not that unimportant, which is why Jason Vale advises to use Psylliam Husk...

So, Juicing is best to get all teh nutrients you possibly can but...fiber is also very important to reduce healthrisks like colon cancer...

But then,Jason does only say in the first detox phase not to eat,anyway....not Juice and just Juice forever....

3andnomore · 06/04/2008 11:02

Oh and yes, rapid weightloss is not advisable when bf...due to teh toxins that we store in our fatty tissue, which, when detoxing/loosing weight will get released into the bloodstream and from there will be in breastmilk

3andnomore · 06/04/2008 11:02

oh and hallo Franny....was off line for ages...as Comupter broke down on us....

mousemole · 06/04/2008 11:06

definitely wouldn't do when breastfeeding. I went on a 7 day fast in Thailand where we had nothing but physllium husk, lemon juice and bentonite clay for to drink ( very grim) but they talked there about how it is unadvisabel to do anyform of detox/fast when breastfeeding. Compared to Thailand Jason Vale's plan is like a feast

I didn't feel deprived when I did JV's 7 day plan....

FrannyandZooey · 06/04/2008 11:12

oh glad you are back 3 and
there were a couple of posters with '3' in their names and I kept thinking it might be you

apologies for hijack!

yorkishbirdy · 06/04/2008 14:23

I know what you are saying Ellideb and you are mostly right, but not totally, there is a fair amount that is left behind - not enough to say it is a bad idea - as I said I love the plan!
